As a grown adult, it's a choice to play slots for fun and in moderation. I really enjoy disconnecting from the world and grabbing a meal afterward. Discipline is a trait, I have never seen the science behind. Perhaps society as a whole is focused too much on instant gratification.i play pennies at the lowest bet, solely for entertainment with a chance of winning. Don't expect to get rich and you'll be ok.

If I can add... combined with drinking alcohol at time, out goes your control and they know this! Further, long term binge drinking which many 20-30 year olds do, will mean your brain is compromised and less decision making and impulse control so pokies addiction increased and a new generation of problem gamblers created every year. Biggest transfer of wealth from poor to rich. People work their ass off to only have most of it lost playing pokies... their partners are used as scape goats and blamed for their losses, domestic violence and suicide also increases. How is our society allowing this scourge occur? Once people run out of money, they will be dependant on centrelink hand outs. 20 cents should be max bet. Time limits set... entertainment should be defined as 3 hour sessions max. Otherwise, ban it all!

I would never have thought I'd become addicted to them. It was a way to kill time, something to do. On the reverse I watched an elderly person lose $50 in about five minutes. I rather have my meal and give this nonsense the flick. When manufacturers can change setting of machine to give a 60% return you should understand you will always lose in the long run. Be a loser for your hard earned monies, keep the industry going.

I struggled with pokey addiction for years. The only way I was cured was a series of electric shocks to my genitals whenever I won on the pokey. These were administrered by a specially designed pokey. I worked with a psychiatrist to get a pokey installed in my home that had a kind of belt attached to it. I would wear this around my waist while I played. When I won, the belt delivered a mildly painful electric shock. I was encouraged to pplay the machine as much as possible as long as I wore the belt. The net effect was that over the period of a year I lost all interest in playing the pokies. It was 100% successful, but also had the effect that I became ridiculously addicted to naving my genitals electrocuted. Now I cannot leave the house. I am up to 10 blasts of an industrial cattle prodder per day....just to feel normal. Hang on one sec.....BBBZZZZZZZZZ !!!! Ah, that's better.

The Aussie government doesn’t want people to know these fact of pokies..........As it is less money for their coffers. Tragically I know the addictive effect of pokies as I have a ole man who’s hooked to them. Plus some people when they lose too much money they turn into monsters towards the one’s they should be taking care of!!!

Australian gov has no authority over private companies such as TH-cam or Facebook...twitter etc, even Donald’s trump post removed by Facebook today. So I don’t don’t think scomo has any hope

How's the lie, to the business owners and even the government. If people didn't put their money in the pokies there money would likely still be spent.... Its money its always spent eventually.

The key to winning is discipline. Leave as soon as you make a profit and spend no more than $20 bucks a week. I’ve been doing this for 3 years and all my winnings I put in a savings account which is now at $3000. Discipline people. Discipline.

Shut up. There is no “key” to discipline. It’s a death trap and you’re just one of the lucky ones who haven’t become a full victim of gambling...yet.

You are a disgusting individual trying to show off as a lucky gambler . Noone wins on poker machines with long term playing . 95% of gamblers are long playing meaning that they always lose . A addict cannot just have one hit meaning that there is never ever any discipline .

There's good money to be made on Slots. The horror stories you hear are of addicts. I usually make about 600 a week. It's literally as simple as knowing when to stop. Either play with 10/20 euro and never more than 20 cent a spin.
