Exactly no character has ever made this big of an entrance, you see if he killed Abe only it would've sucked but he would've been forgetful but him killing Glenn was the biggest turning point in the show. So many people clocked out afterwords making him the most memorable character easily even bigger than the governor who had an entire season while Negan only had 2 episodes under his belt and was the most talked about character in TWD.
An unbelievably good episode. The telling, the editing, the tension, the atmosphere, the music, the acting. Simply perfect.

Haven't laughed that hard in a while, the silence at the end was perfect. Great episode.
Yes, It's drained me completely..I felt exhausted and crappy after the episode. But that what good shows do. After a while I even rewatched, I still cried but I appreciated the suspence from the beginnig until the end, amazing acting and the plot; despite the graphic. So get over it! We had to feel broken, the way Rick was broken. It had to happen in order for us to understand and see the danger of Negan. The story had to start from this point.

Tell me about it and she was on a track to suicide XO Chick was in limbo. But its the same for everyone. No offense though I liked Abraham more then Glenn, that is when he and Maggie were more then a couple Glenn felt more less of what I loved as cocky and a lovely Geek. Abraham remained as he is in persona and I love his lingo just like Eugene.
Some fans pointed two things out to me that i didn't catch the first time and I made a point to pay attention during a future rewatch. It made it even more sad.
When Negan chose Abe, before he hit him Abe gave Sasha the deuces sign that they always signed to each other. And then at the picnic scene when the camera panned down the table you could see that Sasha was pregnant.
I bawled all over again.
That’s not even the major easter egg. They exposed early on who the two people were that were going to be hit by Negan. If you look at that big overview of Rick’s crew from in front when Negan first comes out of the trailer, Glenn and Abraham are the only two sitting higher than everyone else. I noticed that one myself after many rewatches. The clue was there from the start.
That meal scene was telling you don't expect any happy ending .
Yeah, after a re-watch it was a moment of happiness in a shit storm. More like tribute to Glenn and Abe. :(

Poor taste for that last dinner episode? No, I'm afraid you didn't get the point of the episode itself. Its whole purpose was to rip your heart out from beginning to end. It's one thing to hear Negan say what he said, but it's much more effective to show it. They weren't about to let up and let you have a moment in the last part. This was meant to be a highly emotional episode, and I feel they've done all they could and showed all they in order to achieve that.

The first time watching this episode I was gutted and hated TWD and actually stopped watching for a very long time because of Glenns death. It just felt like the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones all over again but rewatching it was an amazing episode and Negan was the perfect villain and the actor who played him did an amazing job. Glenns death was awful but it was so brutal it made it uncomfortable to watch but it was identical to the comic so you gotta appreciate TWD directors for pulling this off
Props to Rachel for getting through the episode so stoically compared to a lot of other reactors I've seen. I was expecting Abraham to die but Glenn getting killed took me by complete surprise.

i know man.. Glenn was my fav. he's been there since day one and he was one of the few who remained pure without doing bad shit throughout the whole show. and now poor magie had to watch her father die , her sister die and now her husband and father of her baby die in front of her. not cool.

No it isn't. There are TWO things that contributed into Glenn's death. 1. Negan being Negan, and 2. Daryl punching Negan. It wasn't and ISN'T just Daryl. You clearly missed the point of the episode. It was to demonstrate who Negan is. I mean come on be serious, Negan was the one with Lucille. It's not like Daryl was the one holding the bat. Think about it.

i loved this episode.....i actually walked away feeling shaken....a tv show did that....i felt like 2 of my friends had been killed in my presence.....thats a good show thats what i like......and Negans the kind of villan the tv world has yet to encounter....hes not just some black caped evil doer ...forgettable and a carbon copy of so many other"bad guys" .....he is THE bad guy ...... no matter what happens from here on in TWD has my respect.....you maniacal guys

I dont understand why people hating on Negan. He is a reasonable guy. I mean Rick and his crew killed a lot of his people and Negan only wanted to take just 1 of them. Just 1 ! (untill Daryl screwed it up because of his emotions). He could have killed the whole group and Rick still killed more "Saviours". Negan is a villain with principles. Thats why I love that character. By far my favorite character in film business. But thats just my point of view.

I guess why I choose Rick over Negan, is that Rick has a reason why he kills, I don't think he would have negan and his close group of people kneel before him and bash someone's head in in front of everyone because he is not a evil man, negan however is evil and I want nothing more to see him get his day, maybe have Maggie burn off his face with a iron,then have Rick finish him off with his precious bat! But I know I have had enough of the negan story line, has gone on way too long, which maybe why ratings are down.Hope with the new writer taking over 9th season they will get back on track......

I never watched TWD when it first aired, been watching it most nights on Amazon Prime over the past couple of months.
Honestly, this is seize and conquer at its best. Defeat the two people outside of the group leader who provide the best options moving forward. That keeps the rest under control and then you work on the leader. Couldn't have been done any better IMO.

Doobius John Hampton We were not grossed out by the deaths. We were upset and sad to watch one of our most beloved characters go out like that. All of us have been invested in this series since Season 1 and it hit us right in the heart. I can watch gore all day, but when it happens to a character you've grown to love, it hurts a little.

If it helps to explain their reaction, i got hooked on this show not because of the zombies but because of the characters. I didn't even know there was a comic. It certainly isn't a franchise like "SAW" or "Friday the 13th" where you expect to see meaningless, gruesome deaths. The high focus on the characters, most of whom are fairly normal human beings, disguises it as a regular TV show about human affairs.
It was the best episode because it was the most intense episode. And most sad episode.

Totally agreed, a shitty premiere to follow up a shitty season finale, one which I heavily debated whether I even wanted to watch. And I shouldn't have wasted my time. It was an hour of millions of people essentially being masochists to senseless graphic death, by writers who get off on making the audience miserable. I, like many other people, are officially done with this shitshow.
The last half of the previous season and the first episode of this season suffer from a lack of creativity because they're approaching where the comics are and they're trying to drag it out. Never in the history of this show have there been this many bullshit fake-outs and pointless character deaths. They're grasping for straws. This is going to be a really slow season, heavily centered on suspense rather than plot, because they have to give the comics time to get more story out. Unfortunately the comics have gone incredibly downhill as well, so there's no chance of any recovery for either at this point. It's all a shitshow, it's all pointless, it's all boring, it's all predictable. Ratings for episode 2 are going to plummet, and will continue for every episode this season. Guaranteed.
Do yourself and all of us a favor and do NOT attempt to write anything, especially a TV series. You'll be cancelled after the pilot. This episode was much more than the highly anticipated Negan kill(s). It was about the TOTAL breakdown and destruction of one man's (Rick's) power. And it succeeded flawlessly. Of course ratings will even out after a premiere of ANY show. But I guarantee they will not fall off. They will increase from previous seasons, if anything. Everyone, including new viewers will NEED to know how Rick's group fights back eventually. Plus, I believe you're just being a hater because you must have lost a character you were really fond of and you'll get over it come mid-season like everyone else does. Otherwise, you wouldn't even be in this area of TH-cam.

They follow everything from the comic book from the top of my head Daryl should not exist, Carol should be dead while Sophia should be alive, Andrea should be alive, Judith should be dead and i'm sure i missed others too.

I fear the Governor more, he was more military organized and had access to a shit tons of guns, not to mentioned, a tank! In a unedited version of this episode, it was Maggie that ate the bat (which sucks) this version sucks as well too, because I was a Glenn fan and Abe was cool too! It was hard to watch seeing them get massacre like that! Hopefully Negan get his!

Garage Banter They've teased and taunted Glenn's death too many times...from lowering him in the well, to the creeps at Terminus, to the revolving door incident with Noah...and, of course, the famous Glenn-under-the-dumpster fiasco last season. Then on top of all that, they decide to give us a shitty cliffhanger, and finally a season opener that is more full of exploitative violence than a Stallone film. So now what?!! What can I really look forward to this season? Am I really supposed to get excited about a CGI tiger?!!

Nova Lena, Actually, Negan's entrance really shakes things up in the comics. Robert Kirkman (creator of the comics) knew the story was getting stale and planned to end it when our group got to Alexandria. Then he had an idea for a new villain, Negan. He was then able to make the story interesting again. If you're out, so be it. It's your loss. People tend to forget that even if you thought this episode was too graphic or whatever, it's just one episode in a fantastic series. Not every episode is going to be even close to as fucked up as this one was. I personally loved the episode. It was insanely well done.
