What a painful story. . . 😢
Thank you for the history lesson Evelyn ❤
💚💚💚🙏🏻🏰
I'm in the process of writing a novel that has a scene at Oystermouth Castle (one of my favorite landmarks in Wales). Really appreciate this video. Love the narration.
Ahhh yay! Such a great place that deserves more attention. So glad it’s going in your Novel!!
Thank you for this history. I was surprised to learn that Alina was my 27th great-grandaunt. Family drama never ceases, but ours was nothing like hers, thankfully.
RIP, auntie.❤
Thats tragic that her husband was killed and she was imprisoned for something her father caused. Did anything happen to her father because of all this? Im glad she found happiness in the end but what a pity it was short-lived.
Her father died before she was released from the Tower. 💚
@@EvelynEdwards i assume he had a great life before that
@@melindalopez3978He, being her father ?. He was not a good man, had gotten himself a bad reputation with poor decisions and had an evil heart.
Gosh, what a terribly sad story! 😢
Thank you.
💚💚💚🙏🏻🏰
Thank you for telling these long lost tales of real people. Fascinating! ❤
It my absolute honour and pleasure! 💚🏰
Thanks for the interesting story on the De Braose family i never knew about this part, i have read about Maud De Braose in the time of king John , it would seem they had there battles with anyone near the king or even a king himself.
If I visited that castle now that I know her story I think I would feel bound to 'talk' to Alena hoping she could hear me ! Not a ghost I would be fearful of! What a very sad business, she did not deserve, but in the end at least she had a few years of happiness & freedom. Rest easy Alena!
A reason to go back! 😉💚🏰
Is always a real pleasure having a new vídeo from you. ❤
Ohhh you are so kind! Thank you friend! Love making them!
Just watched the longer version .. Heartbreaking . 🦄💜
Thanks Evelyn. I think this episode may have inspired some fiction in a Gothic horror novel.
😉💚🏰
Fascinating story, thank you

Evelyn you and Chris got to see firebrand movie about Henry viii and Catherine Parr it's very good but you would be better if they choose you to play Catherine Parr
Ohhh you are so sweet friend! We definitely want to see it!
De Braose was a truly horrible man. His bad reputation was well known.
Its messed up how these men could essentially rob these kids of their rights. And get away with it
💚🏰💚
I've been notoriously horrible with money at times. But dang those were some brutal times . . quartered and hanged.
How sad. What age was the Coming of Age in Medieval times?
@@Michelle-q4t are you asking what was canon law for the age of consummation?
@@EvelynEdwards yes
@ 12 for girls and 14 for males
@@EvelynEdwards Hi thank you for that...what a very different time, I would never understand this. Canon Law must never have acknowledged the existence or notion of children. Maybe the bubonic plague as history tells it, was still looming, a decimated population, who knows how and why they rationalised such decisions.
None of the de Braose family - save some of the women seemed to have any redeeming qualities. Which William was this? Was this one directly descended from Maud or another?
@@maureenanglim2927William the 2nd Baron of Braose and Lord of Gower.
@@EvelynEdwards Was he Maud's grandson?
