- Spain’s Chief of Staff of the Air and Space Force (SAF) Air Chief General Francisco Braco Carbo arrived in India on August 13 to attend India’s first multinational exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’. During the occasion, he tried his hands on the Indian Aircraft HAL Tejas, and also called it an ‘Outstanding Aircraft’.
“The experience in this exercise has been great...It is a big opportunity to exchange experiences...The support that we received from the Indian Air Force has been outstanding...We have a lot to imbibe from India’s homemade aircraft (Tejas),” said Air General Francisco Braco Carbo.

India had gone through several challenges to develop this aircraft including sanctions after nuclear tests. Tejas recently intercepted typhoon and rafale jets when they were entering india. That's why one shouldn't open mouth with half knowledge

Time to focus on Kaveri jet engine and develop it on our own.And later on if possible integrate it on twin engine Tejas.
That's need of the hour, US pressurizing GE to delay engines to India. Other side both US and China gifting their F21s and FC31 and Turkey offerings their 5th Gen fighter plane.

Spain is using older F-18A and Eurofighter from Tranche 1 to Tranche 3, majority being Tranche 2. both the planes are twin engine, hence the cost of operation is going to be very high,
One benefit is that if an engine gives out, the other one can carry it back to base.
If it saves the aircraft even once during it's life cycle, it's more than paid for itself.
India doesn't have the luxury of even one engine .
@@xcel5203 The problem is too many options, but India wanted to be on good terms with USA hence we went for F404 and F414, of course these engines are excellent and just what we needed, but also we have option to co-develop engine with BAe

A lot depends on the availability of the F404 which is the Achilles heel 👠 of the Tejas.

The jet will fill in all opwerational gaps currently in the IAF . Albeit HAL has to deliver these jets on time and get the engine delivery issue sorted out along with mild changes to design and capability whixh is the primary reason why the delivery of the first jet hasent taken place and not the engine issue . Hal has adequate engines to get the first lot going

US air force chief has flown LCA Tejas back in 2016 when it was first deployed. Meanwhile all these European air force chief just take a tour but never flies one. They don't have the training to fly a modern fighter jet and yet they became air chief. European countries absolutely don't care about their defense. They completely rely on USA.
So spain going be the first export customer of Tejas.
The Euro fighter consortium suggested a deal where its members would buy the Tejas as a late stage trained for Euro fighter if India purchased the Euro fighter.
This would partially offset the cost of the plane.
This offer was made when Euro fighter was competing against the Rafale which India ended up purchasing.

Spanish Air and space force flies the f/a 18 hornet and eurofighter typhoon. They do not F35.
Also context matters: he could have been impressed by the Tejas in an interceptor role, for which this version was designed. For Air superiority Mark 2 is being built.
