Thanks for the pointers Gina. I thought about you all the other day as I drove past a flower farm here in the Peoria, IL area. Thanks for sharing, Jason
I am a home gardener in Australia who is venturing into cut flowers for home. Currently using jute netting but will try to source some stronger netting. Thank you; that was very helpful. 👍
Great video and great info . Will use next time netting to . It makes so much sense. Love your camera work. Awesome. Love seeing your flower farm make me want to have flowers . 💐
Just found your TH-cam channel looking for how to use netting. Great video! Question - I noticed it looked like you didn't use fabric to keep the weeds out of all your flowers - or did you? For example your sunflowers. It didn't look like you used fabric. How do you keep them so clean?
i am new to your site and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying your no-nonsense, factual, informative way of presenting the way you garden. Thank you an please keep posting. Fan in Bozeman, MT
Thanks Gina! This video is extremely useful. Do you move the netting up as the plant grows? Or do you use a second netting to accommodate the increase in height?
Great video Gina, now my owner wants me to get some next year for her flowers. Do you run your irrigation system on a timer or do you turn it on and off?
I higly recommend u get a piece of rebar bitnwider than the bed and use them on the bed ends. Weave the netting in and out..u also them have a really easy way to roll it up and store it..
What if you ran netting vertically instead of the weak twine? A fence of vertical netting would better cushion the stems and leaves along more of the plant's height. For wide rows, you could also run a third "fence" of netting down the center. I've been doing that kind of thing when I grow my Zinnias and cosmos in large containers: I put a circular fence of netting all around the pot to about 60 or 65%% the height of the stems. And no matter the wind direction, the leaves and stems are supported.
How big are the square openings in the netting? I would think that is an important detail, as too small an opening might chafe the stems or obstruct the growth.
Thank you for the info! I planted Dara this year, thinking it would work as a filler, but it drops little petals constantly. Makes a mess on the table within 2 days of putting it in the vase. Does the Queen Ann’s Lace she’d like that?
I was thinking that would use one hortanova netting and move it up as the flowers grow! It should save money and time! Never tried it, but I saw on another channel
Thank you for that. I don't mean to be difficult. I know floret uses the 4 ft wide beds. What is the benefit of that size vs the 3 ft and why do you use both ? Which flowers go in 4ft and which go I'm 3 feet and do you use the same 3 rows of irrigation whether it's 3 vs 4 feet wide. I really appreciate your input. Just trying to figure out best plan....when starting new....
You’re not being difficult at all 😊 do when I first started out I built 4’ beds. But I’m only 5’1 so it’s difficult for me to reach the middle of the beds comfortably so when I added beds I made them 36” wide but longer 😉

Great video Gina. If i can get a garden going i'm going to use the netting. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It really does help support plants!

Thanks Tanja!❤️
So excited to see your videos, I get inspiration from them.
Thanks 🙏
Thanks so much for the tips! Definitely trying this!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

In some places we use fabric in others we don’t. We do a lot of weeding ☺️🌻
That's a very pretty flower garden.
Thank you!

Thanks and welcome!
Would love to see more on your shade cloth canopy! Can you please do a video on that? Thanks!
Great tip!
Thanks Gina! This video is extremely useful. Do you move the netting up as the plant grows? Or do you use a second netting to accommodate the increase in height?
I typically move it up but if the plant is extremely tall I will double layer it. Such as cosmos
Great video Gina, now my owner wants me to get some next year for her flowers. Do you run your irrigation system on a timer or do you turn it on and off?
Lol you better do it then😆 yes everything is on timers.
Great video thanks Gina
Thank you!
Great video! How far apart are your stakes in the bed?
Thank you! 10’
do you have a link for your preferred netting?

The twine looks like it'd need a lot more posts to support it for it to be as effective as the netting
I had lots of support but the netting just works better for me

Good idea
Love how you did your Sunflowers!! Florida weave looks like?
It helps in the wind for sure☺️
Thanks for the great video. I am learning alot
I’m so glad! Thank you

Good job and God bless yall
Thanks Ralph!

6”x6”. I’ve never had an issue
How do you cut the flowers with the netting there?
Most of the time the netting is below where I cut. Or you just reach down u see the net
What do you use for posts? How far apart? This is so helpful.
Metal T Posts spaced 10’
U.really need one of those metal things to get the.good in the ground. I can barely lift it but it drops on the tpost and put it in the ground
Are you using plastic netting or the nylon netting?
It’s polypropylene
Thank you for the info! I planted Dara this year, thinking it would work as a filler, but it drops little petals constantly. Makes a mess on the table within 2 days of putting it in the vase. Does the Queen Ann’s Lace she’d like that?
Thanks! The False Queen Anne’s/ Dara will drop less if harvested early before it’s fully opened. I tend to cut it when the heads are flat ☺️
@@windsorandwillow - Ok, will try that next year. Someone else suggested spraying it with something to hold it together?
I was thinking that would use one hortanova netting and move it up as the flowers grow! It should save money and time! Never tried it, but I saw on another channel
I use it on almost everything I grow ☺️
How wide are your flower beds ?
Some are 48” some are 36”

Do you net Marigolds?
I did not and I had a wind storm come through and knocked them all over so I probably will this year😁
So you’re saying we should get some netting?
Nay😆
Only con i can.think of is the home gardner.. this will be interesting.
I bought it but didnt use it on my 500 glads..BIG ASS MISTAKE..
Yes glads definitely can use support especially if it’s a tall commercial variety.
10 years ago...when the internet and u tube was a baby.. ...there use to be a channel that taught how to make your own netting..because....plastic.
I re-use the same netting every year so it doesn’t end up in a landfill
