That’s pretty much the key to all of it in a copper still. It amazes me how these guys still run to hot when they know that. I guess the time limit messes with them
I want a 10 gallon copper still. 1400 bucks and you can have a brand new, authentic still with thumper barrel and worm barrel. Then I need to learn how to make it. I would never sell the liquor and I know it's illegal, but I would keep it very low key. Give the shine away to friends and family. Make special runs for holidays. Just seems like a lot of fun and very rewarding.
I grew up within WALKING DISTANCE of Gristimill. The amount of MONEY that has been spent to restore it and make it work is VERY impressive. The mill STILL cranks out Rye. You can buy it there it is nearly $200 a bottle.
Mash made with oranges, grapefruits, drink mix for sugar. Make your wine with that, distill it in a trash with a submersion heater (stinger). Use trash bags for your catch, let it run down pen tube into bottles. Get rid of the first quarter bottle and keep running until there isn't alcohol coming out. Clear.
They're not showing everything obviously that would take a really long time and these people suck at what they're doing and don't particularly have anything witty to say So that would be boring
Tim, Mark, and Digger have given them a challenge which is what they were working on on the show GW Malted Rye Whiskey. the ingredients are rye, malted barley, and Indian corn and it is allowed to dry age without yeast. Once it is ready the process is still the same except they don't have a thumper they route it directly to the worm tank and sell it. You heard me they sell it GW Malted Rye Whiskey is legal but most of the shine in Virginia is illegal and ABC cops can kill a shiner if he gets caught or they can send them to jail. Mount Vernon sells the stuff to pay their rent and it is legal but if a shiner wants to learn how to distill or if they want a Virginia or Tennessee license they need to make it. each shiner has their own spin but they are all the same respire that GW made in 1776 when he opened Mount Vernon.
Hi guys have been following since the beginning, today I saw a show Jan 2023 and there's 2 hillbilly's and 2 America's finest Weer does , really guys what thee heck
Washington was the man, that dude made Moonshine, and grew weed, imagine talking to the guy while hes drinking shine from a mason jar while he puffs some bud out of his corn cob pipe..
the particular mash our founding father used might have clocked in at around 8 to 11% I'd guess, based on the fact that it was grains only,no added sugars, and probably natural yeasts from those grains.modern mashes, depending on yeast, can be a bit higher as often sugar and grains are used.but any mash that goes into a still will have alcohol in it.kind of the point in fermantation.
Anyone that's made shine before will realize they are completely leaving out the fermentation, which basically makes the whole thing pointless. That perfectly illustrates how ridiculous and fake this show is.
I was just watching a show of infused vodka. Has anyone on the show made any infused with WEED? I'm not a drinker, never have been, but I am a pot head.
Amazing how fast the show goes without all the commercials and useless cuts.
I know I’m a bit late replying but I agree.
Only way I watch now 👍
Their embrace at the end tells it all, well done
I think that one guy forgot to add yeast and that's why he had no alcohol...😂
I tried the Koval distillery Washington White Rye.
So peppery. Like liquid gunpowder. Lights your whole torso on fire.
what’s the difference between rye and beer?
@@mistersandwich0034 more than 30% ABV usually
the key with rye is run nice and slow easy heat...

I want one too
Indeed.
Necessity is the mother of invention.

Digger did NOT look happy😂😂😂
Can't even here Rye Whisky without hearing ol' Stringbean singing in my head.
Rye and a shit ton of sweat. That one dude looked like he would have been dehydrated af
Thanks you
Next season can you show us some videos of DIY "prisoner moonshine".....?🤔
Now that takes a highly skilled Brewer👏🏽😂
Ah yes, made with fresh toilet water
And fruit cocktail and bread that was stolen from the prison mess hall
@@kali888 you do realise there is tap water in prison right?
Mash made with oranges, grapefruits, drink mix for sugar.

Clear.
Hooch
I love every thing in this video also the badass accent
"Rye whisky, rye whisky, don't let me down..."
Rye is tough. Took me 4 runs to hit topnotch
Thank you
as a mooshiner (in my country it's legal unless you sell it ) Those inepts are hurting me down in my soul :D
can someone enlighten me about when in this video the fermentation process happens?
I was just thinking that
A change of clothes isn’t in the budget.
They're not showing everything obviously that would take a really long time and these people suck at what they're doing and don't particularly have anything witty to say
So that would be boring
It's shot on multiple days a week or two apart.
They bring in the mash already fermented.
Best show on tv.
I cracked open a bottle of rye just as this clip came up in the playlist. (Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Select Rye)
Why is the beginning of the video the music is louder than the narrator
what streaming service can I watch this on?
Discovery Channel. You got a DVR?
I wood give that old man a nuther go at moonshine again.
Wow nice
Tim is such a damn snob lol
These guys ever talk about their burner and throttle design ?
Always nice being early 😌👌🏼
Some reason I liked peg leg wish he could have done more on that run
He’s my grandfather and i was really close with him, he made moonshine a lot and its strong but good
@@robbiewhite816 wow he's your gran dad that's cool
I can't believe they're not even giving them a thump keg that one guy would have been saved by the keg
If you can't run a basic still a thumper is only going to mask issues
I’m from Fayetteville I need to find that guy and get some of that liquor
Last episode was, awesome. But talk about a lopsided contest. 4 backwoods men a city person hiding stuff in the woods. No win odds there!

Hmm, I wonder who ran Washington's stills?
😳
Good ol huhwhites?

Where's the fermentation ?
Washington was the man, that dude made Moonshine, and grew weed, imagine talking to the guy while hes drinking shine from a mason jar while he puffs some bud out of his corn cob pipe..
…while he watches the humans he owned do their work
I can see it now
Been hearin lots bout pukin... first time i seen it now it makes sense to me lmao
It doesn't have to already be alcohol before it distilled? I thought it had to be a wine or something alcoholic before it gets distilled
What they call mash is fermented grains kinda like a basic beer
the particular mash our founding father used might have clocked in at around 8 to 11% I'd guess, based on the fact that it was grains only,no added sugars, and probably natural yeasts from those grains.modern mashes, depending on yeast, can be a bit higher as often sugar and grains are used.but any mash that goes into a still will have alcohol in it.kind of the point in fermantation.
Bro look at this show now they got lookin like forge of steel
Hawkeyes judging moonshine?
Add some ergot and it's authentic, lol
Look Like oatmeal
These people really did just put straight oatmeal in a copper pot still what the fuck
menos mal no es history o ya sabriamos el resultado
Yuh
Didn't they forget the fermentation part of making Alcohol?
They ferment it before the show because fermentation takes multiple days.
@@henriquekonradt541 just weird they didn't even talk about it. Fermentation happens after the Mash and before distillation both of which were shown.
@@sduff05 probably want the clip as close to 10 min as possible
You suppose they knew they throw away the heads back in Washingtons time?
The fact heads given you a brutal hangover and I'm high doses can kill you we've known since the start of distillation basically
Did you see the slaves in the background
I know Travis no cap
I know Cap no Travis
Guge Warshinten
Travis looks like he’s used to cooking meth. I’m afraid his brew is half sweat.
I DON'T see hiw they can run their grain and Not Scourch
30 gallons a day in its prime.

പൊളിച്ചു❤️❤️
So, is it illegal to make moonshine, or sell it?
Depends on where you live the laws contradict each other
It is illegal to distill alcohol in all 50 states unless you possess a license to do so period.
I was just watching a show of infused vodka. Has anyone on the show made any infused with WEED? I'm not a drinker, never have been, but I am a pot head.
How does it ferment so quick? 😂
The mash is pre made
Actually here early
Hey friend
Hello

Rye is just a nasty grain. No matter what you make out of it 🤮

Ohhh Poor travis, his face and body look so swollen. He needs to stop drinking so much and stop trying to be involved in making booze.
