It’s mad like city’s team now is amazing but your never gonna look back and go wow because players like them in that team are still talked about they were ballers
It's important to remember that Liverpool did not even qualify For champions league football for the year after because they only finished fifth in the league. They had no right to win the game before kick off never mind at half time, especially against that Milan side
Im sure back then the rule came in to automatically qualify was not in the rule books like the world Cup. No one had ever won it and not qualified the season after. They changed the rule so Liverpool could defend it.
Liverpool finished 4th in 2004 and rightfully qualified for CL the following season and won. They did finish 5th in 2005 and qualified as Defending Champions for 2006 CL.. Please get your facts right..

The difference was Steven Gerrard! That’s what all the Lamps, Scholes fans don’t get! He did that, against THAT team!! He wasn’t just a cog in a great team, he was different level!

To be fair, Gerrard, Hyypia, and Alonso were world class. Wouldn’t have got to that final without them. Of course on that night Dudek was world class. But yes compared to that Milan team…it’s crazy that Liverpool actually won that game.
Shit was unreal a team with seedorf 3 0 up allmost impossible to come back, the man was an absolute beast who could strenghten the balance in de team, unreal performance by liverpool.
And Xabi Alonso, Hyypiä, Luis García, Steve Finnan (hugely underrated) and ofc Carra himself. They lacked experience maybe but all of them were among the best in their position, at least in the PL
The difference was Gerrard. He inspired the team to get level, then moved to right back and kept Milan at bay. Dudek had been dodgy all season, but was inspired. And Benitez got pure lucky because injuries forced him to put Haman on, who should never have been dropped in the first place. Oh, and Dida had 6 mins of being shite!!
Seedorf, Schevchenko, Kaka, Gatusso, Inzaghi, Maldini, Nesta, Stam, Cafu, Pirlo.. what a time. Only weakpoint in that team was Dida occasionally fumbling.
@@robovac3557 Yeah, that must be it, universal acceptance about multiple other legendary black players in the game, but for some reason Seedorf is the one that makes them suddenly racist. He scored a few screamers here and there, but generally he was optimal efficiency and went about his work on the pitch quietly. Stam answers that question like an English lad, same brand of dry humor
We Dutch have a very similar sense of humor as the British
I always get along with brits very similar culture in a way

I bet my mate a tenner that AC Milan would win and watched it with him. I was laughing my head off when they went 3 up. It didn't end well.
It's one of those games that if you play them a 1000 times more, you never get Liverpool doing that comeback again.
