*Light kills mostly genuine criminals* Luke - What this guy is doing is pretty twisted & wrong. He's evil, really hard to root for. *Misa kills clearly innocent people* Luke - An absolute angel. Must protect at all cost. Only one who deserves the best.
It's because the show has written Light as unlikable and unrelatable, with no quirky or cute personality traits, in fact all of his inner dialogue is cruel, his scenes are cold and superficial, there's nothing human about him... down to the lighting, music, monologues ..whilst Misa is presented as naive and sweet and extroverted, loyal, a victim, etc... It just goes to show that no matter how much we advance in society, people find tone, likability, and presentation more important and relevant regarding their judgment than actual actions or principles pertaining to said actions. It's the same reason why likable politicians with horrible voting records & policies win more than politicians with perfect principled voting records but don't have much of a entertaining or likable personality. It's all about optics.
The Yotsuba group is actually not as stupid as you think. They only kill by accident, and it's not public knowledge that Kira can kill by ways other than heart attacks (not even the fact that he can control his victims is public knowledge). It's not as you would expect there to be someone who keeps track of every single person who dies every day in Japan (or across the world) and checks who benefits from that, and they only kill in the weekends, so the random death of 4-8 execs per month wouldn't be that hard to miss. Plus, we know that thanks to Rem the new Kira is still killing criminals, which would make it harder to notice the death of random people who are not dying from heart attacks.

I think what L perceived when Misa was saying she would obey Light, wasn't that it was strange that she'd obey Light, but i think L picked up in her voice that she was lying.

Not sure what Light's plan is, but all I know is from what we can always tell Rem cares about Misa & thats why she revealed herself to Misa with the torn piece of paper. I think the biggest question that L/Light probably have right now is... how did she convince this guy to prove to her that he's Kira? I mean... _we_ know that she proved herself to be Kira 2 by killing a CEO (which, by the way, wasn't decided on by the usual Yotsuba corporation council meeting... so who knows if that's gonna throw a wrench in anything) but I would hope that Misa didn't record any of that part of the conversation. but then... that still leaves a gap. the Yotsuba group was just questioning her about her involvement with L, so why does this guy trust her this quickly? and also, if she betrays him and gets him arrested, who's to say he wouldn't reveal Misa as being Kira 2? even if it seems like he's just trying to lash out at her at that point, it'd cast suspicion onto her. it's a classic Misa plan, because she really hasn't thought of everything, or covered her exit strategy from the situation. it makes me really curious about what Rem might do, in order to protect her.

Higuchi wouldn't have any reason to distrust her. From his perspective L is the enemy of all Kiras, there is little reason to think a Kira might work with him. She was only known for being arrested and questioned by L, and by her own admission in the interview any contact between them was minimal. While he did assume that she needed to give up the notebook to get out, it's not implausible to imagine that she could have been released due to lack of evidence given the supernatural nature of the book. Otherwise you're right in that it's a very Misa plan; brilliant for getting what she wants in the moment, but with a lack of foresight or cover from future problems.
@@WolforNuva true... from Higuchi's perspective, he even says to Rem at one point: "there's no doubt, Misa Amane is the second Kira... then L caught her at some point. if he's letting her move about freely, it means she's forfeited ownership of the death note and lost all her memories." so like... from Higuchi's perspective, the only surprising thing is that Misa still "remembers" and can still kill. what he doesn't understand, is that Misa doesn't actually remember or own a notebook anymore... she just has Rem on her side. like, Misa no longer has the shinigami eyes, but she can see Rem, standing behind Higuchi at the meeting. but my point is more about what this looks like from L's perspective. even now, the investigation team doesn't know about the notebooks or their more specific mechanics. to L, the puzzle is: there are 6 guys remaining who could be Kira, or have contact with Kira. originally, 8 people were attending the meetings, but Hatori died early, and Namikawa is basically their contact. he isn't above suspicion, but if he was Kira, you'd expect much different behavior than what they've seen. so. given this, which of the remaining 6 is doing the killing? and somehow Misa figured that out. in record time. like... did she randomly pick Higuchi to start cozying up to, and happen to hit the nail on the head? _we_ know why Misa knew to go for Higuchi, but L has no idea how she picked him out of the lineup so quickly. and from Higuchi's perspective, while he did end up concluding that Misa must be able to move freely because L couldn't get any information out of her... there's also a reasonable amount of caution that any of the Yotsuba guys would have around her, _just in case_ she's actually being used as an investigative tool by L. (like, sure, L is the enemy of all Kiras... but if Misa struck a deal with L to save her own skin somehow, I think that's the type of cutthroat move that a businessman type of personality would be likely to anticipate.) so like... _we_ know that Higuchi became fully convinced that Misa isn't trying to rat him out to L, because she's able to kill in front of him, and acts in ways that are consistent with what he knows... such as having him turn away so she can "write down" a name, to prove she's Kira 2. but L doesn't know about any of this, so from his perspective, Misa randomly targeted Higuchi, got close to him almost instantly, and he started trusting her basically on the spot, to the point where now _he_ has to prove to _her_ that he is Kira, by not killing criminals for a certain amount of time. so like... if L wasn't suspicious before, he's certainly going to be questioning her now. how on earth did she target and convince this guy?? and then beyond that, once she actually does rat Higuchi out, you can bet that the first thing he'll do is spill the beans about this exact thing. "but she said she was the second Kira! she showed me her powers!" would be the first thing I'd expect out of him. so even if Misa was able to initially hand wave it as Higuchi being a big fan of Misa Misa already, and approaching her first... that suddenly puts the questions back on her. so like, Higuchi's response to what actually happened in this situation is totally understandable. I just think there are some immediate holes in terms of what L is going to make of this.

What some might have missed with the plot here is that the task force was divided into two because of difference in principles, so it was a question of who will solve it first: will it be L or will it be Yagami's team. But the one who solved it was Misa.
I kind of want to see someone do an edit of Death Note that turns it into a comedy, where L and Light are just bumbling around incompetently and neither one has any idea what they're doing. I can just imagine the Death Note getting passed around during the Yotsuba arc so that literally every major character is Kira at some point, and they're trying to piece together who killed who. They've all kind of forgotten since they had to give up the Death Note for it to go to the next person, but they keep breaking the 4th wall and another character has to remind them that they shouldn't know something, and they end up really confused and can't remember what they're supposed to remember. I guess I'm just asking for PurpleEyesWTF to do a Death Note Abridged Series.
