This dude had one reason to be behind a microphone and that was to yell at it like it was his red headed step child Those who get it understand, those who cannot get it I cannot understand
This is probably the most honest real song I've ever heard. What I would give to have a few hours to sit down and just talk to Henry Rollins about life and different subjects.
Wofl Strike Source Okay, that totally makes sense, I thought you were dissing the music. Rollins Band did keep me from filling an old roommate, though.
My 7th grade English teacher told me to look up this song because he said it reminded him of me. When I listened to this song the first time with myself In mind I wanted to cry.
No you guys are taking it the wrong way, I actually really appreciated it. At the time I was going through some really hard stuff in my life. I thought I was pretty good at hiding it, he was the only person that could see through it I guess. So when he told me about the song, I just kind of realized that he had been looking out for me the whole time. I can see how you would think otherwise though the lyrics in the song were a little demeaning.
that's amazing! that was a good teacher that actually cared. I would of given any thing for someone to notice and care about me and reach out to me. I was always standing by myself, i always had quick one liners about everything and everyone including myself. trust me when I say I was not the chick to get into a argument with. I hit below that belt with my words. I had friends that were normal social kids and wanted me to hang out with others and I was always so quiet in a group and secretly looked down at them and myself. so honestly this song is talking directly to me, and sometimes i get mad while i hear it because he's calling me out
Thanks Rollins band for waking me up with the truth. Like so many comments below, you saved my life at a time I wasn't feeling like it was worth saving. THANK YOU.
I wish more musicians always focused on having so much substance. I can think of some way more talented musicians who make better, more technical music, but are shallow as a pond when it comes to song writing. Rollins is one of the best song writers ever.
Rollins Band supported the chilli peppers in Glasgow in 1990ish and they performed this track. The sheer power behind it just demolished my mind. It's my goto track when I have lowselfopinion 💪
I find it so incredible that every single word holds weight and value. It's perfect in every way whilst being melodically genius. You can tell this must have just poured straight out of Rollins heart.
I always find myself shouting at myself in the mirror and shouting along with henry to this song. And when i pick up my bass to play it, i'm basically punching it
I think you got a low self opinion man I see you standing all by yourself Unable to express the pain of your distress You withdraw deeper inside You alienate yourself And everybody else They wonder what's on your mind They got so tired of you And your self ridicule They wrote you off and left you behind You sleep alone at night You never wonder why All this bitterness wells up inside you You always victimize So you can criticize yourself And all those around you The hatred you project Does nothing to protect you You leave yourself so exposed You want to open up When someone says Lighten up You find all your doors closed Get yourself a break from self rejection Try some introspection And you just might find It's not so bad and anyway At the end of the day All you have is yourself and your mind

XHoRrOrPuNk666X I'm not sure why, but "Lonely Soul" makes me think of reference to Suicide (the band, that is) - Rollins is a huge fan of theirs and he did a cover of "Ghost Rider".
You sleep alone at night You never wonder why All this bitterness wells up inside you You always victimize So you can criticize yourself And all those around you
the mass-perplexity of low esteem and delusions have kept culture so bleak and materialistically shallow since right around when MTV came on the air, the chain reaction from then to now is stunning. People don't remember that USA neighborhoods were once very tame and generally pleasant anywhere you went. Fan of Black Flag and Rollins since 1982. I like his confrontational honesty and unselfish heart while aggressively just making sense of it all. Great character, and great album
@@IHeartNoise So the two places with the most people in the USA. Of course there's gonna be crime in urban centres. He meant average neighbourhoods in the kind of middle-size to small towns you commonly find around the USA, which are now mostly desolate or unsafe due to various factors.
I feel exactly like this. I was really in love with my high school crush but didn't try harder at talking more. I mean I talked but it was like 1 or 3 sentences. I also gave her a valentines day card. but nothing... so I still blame myself for my failure. so yeah I have a low self opinion.
chaotix562xx ca why are you guys blaming her? He's the one that didn't have the balls to have a decent conversation with her. She probably didn't even know he existed.
Incorrect, it's "Low S.O." "Nowhere soul" doesn't even make sense in the context of the song's lyrics, his language in the song isn't poetic like that, it's very direct.
All these people complaining that rollins couldn’t sing don’t get that he was never trying to sing
who is even saying that? thats just fucking idiot talk if you ask me.
This dude had one reason to be behind a microphone and that was to yell at it like it was his red headed step child
Those who get it understand, those who cannot get it I cannot understand
Still my favorite song from them and the final part of the song is just so great.
You should tell em to listen to spoken word poetry.
People think auto tune is how the normal human voice sounds like
This is probably the most honest real song I've ever heard. What I would give to have a few hours to sit down and just talk to Henry Rollins about life and different subjects.
he'd tell you to fuck off lol
I played this so much in my high school years..25 yrs later I still know ever word..n it hit’s differently

This band saved my life.

Wofl Strike Source Okay, that totally makes sense, I thought you were dissing the music.
Rollins Band did keep me from filling an old roommate, though.
Henry Rollins is a BEAST. Always HAS been, always WILL be.
I feel so connected with this freaken song...Henry Rollins knows that inner pain....

Thanks Rollins band for waking me up with the truth. Like so many comments below, you saved my life at a time I wasn't feeling like it was worth saving. THANK YOU.
I'm glad that you're still here, Brian. The world needs people with the ability to see beyond themselves.
You can’t write lyrics like these without experiencing these things yourself, or at least being observant enough of others to really understand.
if you could see the you THAT I SEE when i see you seeing me,you'd see yourself so differently , believe me!!!!.. ,,BEST LINE EVER
100% dude.
Simeon Cain is such a badass drummer
The drumming is epic here. Really works with Henry's vocals.
Oh ja!
He's really laying in!!
This is my neighbours' favourite song, whether they like it or not.
Also @ 3:22... BRING IT BABY! LOVE that solo!
Henry Rollins is the f****** goat and helped me become who I meant to be
Killer. I haven't heard this track in over 20 years. Takes me back instantly and it still. Fucking. ROCKS.
This man and Glenn Danzig are punk gods.

I think you got a low self opinion man
I see you standing all by yourself
Unable to express the pain of your distress
You withdraw deeper inside
You alienate yourself
And everybody else
They wonder what's on your mind
They got so tired of you
And your self ridicule
They wrote you off and left you behind
You sleep alone at night
You never wonder why
All this bitterness wells up inside you
You always victimize
So you can criticize yourself
And all those around you
The hatred you project
Does nothing to protect you
You leave yourself so exposed
You want to open up
When someone says
Lighten up
You find all your doors closed
Get yourself a break from self rejection
Try some introspection
And you just might find
It's not so bad and anyway
At the end of the day
All you have is yourself and your mind

LOW S-O as in short for Low Self Opinion

Ilya S He is saying Low S O for Low Self Opinion.... It sounded like lonely soul to me too lol.
XHoRrOrPuNk666X Interesting how official lyrics deliberately don't mention what it is.
Its almost like they invite you to make up your own version.
Ilya S Yes, and Lonely soul fits the song... And It also can sound like "love is low","love is so....", and "low is low".
XHoRrOrPuNk666X I'm not sure why, but "Lonely Soul" makes me think of reference to Suicide (the band, that is) - Rollins is a huge fan of theirs and he did a cover of "Ghost Rider".
