I’ve been watching a lot of this gentleman’s videos for the past two weeks and I realize his color mixing is fabulous. I’ve been trying lots of his techniques which has so much fun to do and gratifying if you’re someone who doesn’t draw like me.
Thank you so much Christopher I really really enjoyed watching you create this absolutely and truly amazing piece of artwork. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ the painting and I’m so impressed that I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up.
I was surprised by this technique! At first I thought it was going to be like Jean Lurssen's cling wrap technique but this is entirely different. With hers you have to wait for it to dry and I don't have the patience for that. I like this a lot! Going to give it a whirl!
Thanks, Roberta. I’m not familiar with Jean Lurssen’s technique, I’ll have to check it out !! I find my method is good for trees, it’s like instant foliage.
This is beautiful! Very much enjoyed watching it unfold. I'm fairly new to watercolor but absolutely love it. There's so much to learn! This is a technique I'll try! Many thanks. 💗💗
Well, I gave it a go using plastic bubble wrap from Amazon packages. I don’t have any clingfilm. You must be British calling it that. Lol I managed to create what I think is a really lovely painting, so thanks for that ! Now I need to work on my trees. They’re still looking a little like deformed lumber. ❤️🇨🇦
Fantastic improvisation using the packaging, that’s what it’s all about really. Anything that can make an interesting mark is a useful tool for painting. Yes, I think cling film is a British term, possibly just called plastic wrap or food wrap? Good luck practicing the trees !!
@@donnawalser7304 Grease proof paper, great idea!! I think us Brits are on our own calling it cling film. Of course, we are right and everyone else is wrong 😂
I was mesmerized by your technique creating a woodland scene, a soft, mystical atmosphere. Love it…and I have subscribed❣️Warm greetings and thank you from Canada 🇨🇦🤩👏👏👏👏
I’m confused like Diane about the white space. You ran paint strokes right through them several times and the paint seemed to repel on the white areas. 😳 Is the paper prepped with something or is it a somewhat dry brush?
Hi Erin. I think you’re referring to dry brush technique. The paper isn’t prepped with anything. Dry brush is actually fairly wet paint, but dragged quickly onto dry paper, leaving the texture of the paper unpainted. Hope that makes sense!!
I'm just learning the absolute basiics (total beginner) of water color painting. I just recently heard of paper stretching and I am wondering if this is absolutely necessary when you are just starting out?
Thanks for watching, Sharon. I hardly ever pre stretch paper. One thing I would suggest though… Buy the best paper you can afford, it’s more important than brushes, or paint. Preferably 100% cotton. It makes a huge difference.
Great technique, you have mastered it for sure! Thank you for a wondeful demo!

Yes we call it cling film in old Blighty

Excellent!!!
Thanks Carolina 😊
Estupendo método para avanzar rápido
Sí, también es divertido para principiantes.
minunat!
Thanks so much
did I miss something? did you use white for those empty spaces? thanks
The white areas are the white of the paper 😊
The white spots (paper) could take on a light green color with a white sheen, like very young leaves bathed in sunlight.
Thank you

do you change the cling film for each color change? thanks!!
Hi Diana. I used the same piece of cling film, it allows the colours to blend together.
Holy cow it looks like you used masking fluid, but u didnt. Nice job and ty for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching! It can be quite an effective technique

What is the small spray you are using? a fixer?
It’s just water, to allow the paint to move around.
I have just found your paintings and I’m loving them . Do you have a patreon I could join
Thanks so much. I’m currently working on creating a Patreon course, it should be up and running in the next few months.
Excellent! Gardez vous le même morceau de film plastique tout du long. C'est ce qu'on dirait et je m'interroge.Merci!
Merci. Oui, c'est la même pièce partout.
I would enjoy watching this more if the camera stayed in one place. A side view is annoying.
Edit: ps BEAUTIFUL
Thanks for the feedback, Gerry.
👏👏👏🇪🇦
too much water on paper made me lose the cool white markings! will try again. too fun. thanks!
As with all watercolour techniques, it’s about water control. Practice makes perfect, that’s the best part !! 😊
Beautiful
