That rod is a thing of beauty. Love watching the action on it. Absolutely beautiful river. Such clear water! Beautiful brown and cool release footage !
Congrats on 2k my man!!! Well deserved, hopefully I’ll get there sooner than later, didn’t help at all how busy I’ve been this past college semester, pumped to get back to uploading weekly and finally get back on track hahaha! That’s some gorgeous water, tough fishing them crystal clear mountain streams! Glad you were able to get into a few! Keep up the great work, and tight lines as always brother!!! 👊🎣💦
Hi Dan, first...that is one beautiful mountain stream. I imagine it gets quite a bit of pressure even in April and early May. In the preview of your video when it showed underwater release, I thought that trout was 16 inches. Judging size in the water can be very deceptive. I think a streamer would be effective in some of those pools. I would like to see you try one in a future video. Finally, back in the winter you promised to show some Catskill streams. When the weather gets better, I hope you still have plans to some videos from there. I would be very interested to see videos from there since that's where I fished when I lived in Westchester, New York.
Hey man! Yes ! No doubt about it. I’ll be fishing the esopus and the catskill creek to start out! Also some high elevation Brook trout! Expect a couple of those videos later in May!
I remember when I was your age I fished my ass off like that. It is quite a workout. I should have been on the Farmington this eve, trying to finally catch a coherent Hendrickson spinner fall. This cold snappy blustery weather the past week really sucked, but I bet they all fell this evening. I went spin fishing for bass in a local pond and people just throw their slurpee cups on the ground , they expect the town to pick them up. I caught nothing. I haven't used my 7 foot glass 5 weight in years , as I got "outgunned " once by a huge fish. I like the reach of the 9 footer on small streams . What a gorgeous creek, wow.
Congrats for the accomplishment! I was expecting you to whip for getting to 2k! I love your energy in this one and that’s a cool rod you are giving me an idea of a rod I’d like to get for tight spaces.
Correct me if I am wrong but if I remember correctly you said you were somewhere upstate NY? I am from Utah and have only been to upstate NY once and man is it beautiful there! Love the vids! Thanks for sharing! I need to break out my fly fishing tackle and go hit the weber river for some browns!
@@DownstreamDownrange just found and follwed you on IG. My name is Judioloco on IG. I’ll DM you soon and hopefully can do this. I’m in Northern Orange County....
@@DownstreamDownrange yo D...i just read this tidbit on a Trout Unlimited newsletter: New York State has recently decided to discontinue stocking the Esopus because of its healthy native trout population.
@@DownstreamDownrange yo D. Good luck. I love the Esopus. I have a couple of nice access points if you need. I usually fish near Boiceville, closer to the reservoir.

I can’t understand why anyone would take wild trout home to eat!
It’s very hard to justify I agree
