*UPDATE:* first off wow okay, I had no idea this would get as much views as it did lol, thank you guys so much for that! the support I have been getting recently is insane, and I am ever grateful for it. I mainly want to address a slipup I made regarding the Adventure internet tunneling part, Adventure DID have internet features, It also had DLC! I was aware of this for awhile, but I guess I forgot while making the video lol. So yes before you comment, I AM aware that there are internet features in adventure. Thank you guys for pointing the error out to me, and I will put out a follow-up video on what I got wrong soon. Thank you for watching and for the feedback, support, and constructive criticism. I hope I can continue to please you guys more in the future :)
Ken Penders didn't reboot or ruin the comic, Ian Flynn did. May you please edit the video to state that Ian ruined it? I just don't want you to accidentally spread false info just because Somecallmejohnny said it's "true".
I never said Penders ruined the reboot comic, He was the reason why the Archie comics discontinued. At no point did I bring up the IDW comics, sorry for the misunderstanding tho!
@@Daggz Oh yeah, the Chronicles incident... I'm still rather sour about that but at least Ken gave the rights to Knuckles's hat from the Sonic OVA back to Sega.

I was expecting a 'genocide city' appearing in this iceberg but apparently, who ever made this iceberg, forgot about this cut level with a creepy name edit1: thank you for the many likes, i wasn't expecting to get that much attention lol, and, although there are discussions about it, I do know it wouldn't be a "sonic.exe level" style just because of the name, but having a stage with "genocide" in the name is creepy nonetheless, independently of it being horror or not, so it's worth mentioning for the (false?) creepiness it gives
*Hidden Palace built by the Babylonians* - this is more of a theory that connects this ancient civilization originated from the Sonic Riders series with not only Hidden Palace but also with Aquatic Ruins and Labyrinth Zone, given the presence of birds [more specifically Owls] in the architecture of the latter two zones *Adventure's Game Over is a Funeral Dirge* - taken from Speep's Sonic Adventure Iceberg it states that the game over theme in Sonic Adventure resembles a funeral dirge *Adventure Internet Tunneling* - the original release of Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast had Internet features and DLC,i'm not sure if the "internet tunneling" part refers to browsing the Internet via said features SA had thought *CD-Forces ARG* - not only it ties to Sonic CD but with Sonic Mania's promotional campaign as well, the Collector's Edition of Sonic Mania reference Fun is Infinite once again *Sonic 2 is a psyop* - i know this is a made up thing to satirize Super Mario 64's personalized copies but i actually have a joke theory for this one -maybe the Sonic 2sday celebration that was made for Sonic 2's release in North America and the UK was all a psyop-
I tip my non-existent hat to you sir. Also I think The Babylonians also bulit the structures seen in Sonic mania's Marriage Saloon zone considering all the bird related architecture and carpets
9:32 I’m pretty sure that mural actually refers and predicts the final confrontation of the game with Super Sonic and Dr. Robotnik in the Doomsday Zone
Blues 2.5 I only known about shadow part but the biolizard being modeled after chaos makes so much sense. Even if the devs didn’t intend it, I’m making this my headcanon.
@@KrissyBlues adding onto that as well, shadow was supposed to be “the ultimate life form” but finally comes to the conclusion that sonic actually is, hence why he says so in SA2’s final battle. although, due to amnesia forgets saying this, which is why he uses the title afterwards for himself. sonic probably forgot as well just in the heat of the battle. tldr: sonic is ultimate life form and shadow forgets about that in SA2.
I don't remember if it's ever directly stated in game, but I've heard that the capsule "Shadow" was in when he was ejected off the Ark to Earth by Maria was never recovered. If this is true, it would mean the Shadow we know now is actually a re-creation of him made by G.U.N. using Gerald's research and a sample of his DNA. It's possible that the original managed to escape and avoid detection, and Sonic is a descendant of him. This would explain why Sonic can use the same chaos powers, something even Knuckles (The Emerald Guardian) can't even do. His bloodline being more pure (G.U.N. might not have been able to make a perfect copy with what they had to work with) would also explain why his potential is so much higher than Shadow's, and why Sonic keeps growing stronger and stronger. As for Shadow's memories, the fact that they are so hazy and inaccurate for most of SA2 could be an indication that even those are mere recreations. If this theory were correct, Shadow would be wrong and Sonic isn't the ultimate life form. However, it would also mean that Shadow was on the right track and was actually almost right. He was just off by a few generations. Personally, I don't entirely believe it though. My main gripe with this theory is that Sonic being the descendent of the Ultimate Life Form is the kind of thing he should know. Surely his parents would have known and told him when he was young? In fact, where even are Sonic's parents? Who are they? Are they alive? Sonic's only 15/16 in the series, why isn't he with them? He doesn't seem troubled about it in the slightest. Second of all, why would G.U.N. create a copy of the original Ultimate Life Form? The entire reason they imprisoned Gerald and killed everyone associated with the project (Including Maria) was because they considered his work too dangerous. A counter argument to this could be as to why they merely locked Shadow away as opposed to killing him too, though. It's possible the reason for this was because he was too powerful, and locking him away was the only option they had. His memories being so hazy and inaccurate could be a side effect of being in cryo-stasis for too long, or it's possible G.U.N. was doing something to him to try to make him forget. Finally, Sonic's incredible potential could really just get boiled down to main protagonist plot armor. He's the main character, therefore he's the best. Sonic hasn't ever really had much more complex writing than that.
I did like this video! I will mention a few things that I dont think people brought up: *Do the Freedom Fighters like Guns? - This is actually referring to an infamous line Rotor Walrus says during the arc when Fiona Fox temporarily joins the Freedom Fighters, however this line is very contradictory as previous issues have shown the freedom fighters using guns *Sonic Team Vacation - Somewhat. It was a vacation to get references for stages, but not for Emerald Coast. Instead, Sonic Team went to Mexico to visit ancient Mayan sites as well as the ancient cities of Tikal and Pachacamac to gather references for Mystic Ruins and the stages surrounding it. I dont recall if it was Yuji Naka or Takashi Iizuka who talked about a story where, despite the fun the team had, a lot of them got sick during the trip *Windy Valley "God of Wind" - I think this has MAYBE something to do with the statue that you put the crystal into in front of Windy Valley? Idk
also, regarding the sonic team vacation thing...the team actually did sand boarding during a trip to South Ammerica, which inspired a similar minigame in sonic adventure.
Wario can keep up on his motorcycle too as long as he's Wario Man. I don't think any other combination of characters and items can do this besides sonic and Wario.
That and there are two bosses in Shadow the Hedgehog called "Blue Falcon" and "Black Bull" respectively, with people speculating that they're deliberate F-Zero references
"If you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes back at you." Friedrich Nietzsche I don't think the whole eggman speech based on real-life thing was referring to the snapcube fandub, but rather the original game cutscene, in which eggman demonstrated the colony ark's fire power and threatens to destroy the planet unless he is given a ransom of sorts (likely rulership of the planet itself) Being a mostly average internet man, I don't believe there's any significant real world equivalent to this. If anyone does know something, feel free to reply about it.
I'm aware of the quote, it was in the beginning of the mario 64 video. The point of the opening scene is supposed to be a parody of that opening. I get that might be confusing since it isn't explicitly stated, but it was just supposed to be a funny callback to the original video.
I think the Riders Super Sonic is Riders Shadow one could be implying that Shadow’s model was modified to make Super Sonic, given how similar the models are aside from the shoes and goggles
Quite strange that the author used so many theories and other crap while there exists a ton of more interesting facts. Here are some that come to my mind: - Sonic's game appearances before his premiere - Wechnia - Japan exclusive Sonic games - Sonic band and Maddana - Maria getting shot in Shadow the Hedgehog beta - Sonic 3D Blast level select - European version of Sonic 1 - Partially lost AOStH pilot - Sonic 2 beta leak - Amiga port of Sonic 1 - Scrapped ideas for Sonic X-Treme - Sonic the Hedgehog gene - Outtake present in Sonic '06 - Shadow dying in SA2 - Null Space theme - Sonic educational titles - Julie-Su chronicles - Fleetway Supersonic - Sonic 4 Chapter 3 - "I'm outta here!" If you aren't familiar with some of these just ask me for detail :)
YES! I don't know why people pay attention to the 'normie' iceberg mattmatt type BS when we have many fans like you, and I, that can at least try being a tad bit more creative. I like delving into the theories, but being armed to the teeth like you is good too, I like a theory that described shadow being part echidna due to gerald fusing a hedgehog gene with ancient tribal echidna samples, you know, stuff that makes people think
Little things you missed, the Angel Statue in CD gives you rings and is replaced by an Eggman statue in the Bad Future timeline, wich can be destroyed, the CD-Forces ARG point is probablly referring to the end of an Adult Swim commercial for the Sonic TH-cam channel, wich said "Fun is Infinite" when it aired on TV and "follow the clues" when they posted it to TH-cam, and Ken Penders pretty much destroyed the possibilitty of a third season of Sonic SatAm to pitch Sonic Armageddon, I shit you not. There's a video by PatMac about cancelled Sonic movies and he goes more into detail about it. Also you do know that Eggman's speech is not just a Snapcube thing and he actually does make a speech in the real version of that cutscene, right?
Thank you for some of the points I missed, some of this stuff I had no idea about! I forgot about the adult swim commercial lol. also, there were brief summaries about what each thing the iceberg contained on the original post, the OP confirmed that it was about the snapcube speech.
Daggz it’s really weird because if you actually see the full Snapcube fandub for SA2, you’ll know that Eggman’s speech is built off several previous lines by both Shadow and Eggman referring to Eggman’s ex-wife, so the reason for it is clear as day
The internet feature of Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast is well known, it's even shown as a main menu option. I'm shocked that when you said you researched it you couldnt find anything, you can simply search it on YT and find plenty physical examples of the internet feature.
I love this style of video so much. It’s just “Hey here is a ton of weird shit about a game/series” and when you get narration like this that doesn’t stall and just gets to the content it’s just becomes such a good watch.
The "Freedom Fighters like guns?" one is specifically a reference as to how early on a character's shown making tons of guns, and many issues later the same character's a staunch anti-gun guy and there's lore added that the Freedom Fighters hate guns. "Classic Sonic in SA1" is not only about the beta screenshots but even in the final game, the screenshots showing mission objectives, life one-ups, etc all using the classic designs for Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. "Sonic Team Vacation"- it's not said, it's fact, you can even find the photos and through it know it happened in IIRC 1996. They took a vacation to central america and used photos from it as textures. "GUN or G-U.N." are not only abbreviated differently in writing, but outright in reading too, some games characters saying "djee you en" and some games it's just "gun" "Feels the Rabbit" worth pointing the design is unnamed, and Feels is a fan name, based on a later couple Sonic Team games for the DS - Feel the Magic XY/XX and The Rub Rabbits "Terios" There's multiple pics of concept art Shadow by now. We don't know at what point the character got renamed by Shadow, so any Shadow concept art is Terios. Even sticking to the "Sonic with scar" concept, there's multiple pictures and attempts "Riders Super Sonic is Shadow"- maybe referring to how Super Sonic in Riders kept the Adventure hairdo (that Shadow shares) while the main games stopped using it in Heroes "Tails' Death"- possibly also referring to the rumours that Tails would die in the next Sonic game, which ended up being Sonic Forces (which might've been planned at some point actually, as that statement was in the middle of a lot of genuine leaked info) and how for ages later Aaron Webber would keep joking about Tails dying soon in official streams
Koopa Kaper Only the Gamegear version though. The plot for that one was different from the 16bit version in that Eggman kidnapped Tails and if you don’t collect all the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic fails to save him. The game ends with Sonic looking at the night sky that has a constellation resembling Tails in it, leading many people to believe that he died in this ending.
@@leothehuman_9476 yeah, a deal with McDonalds Sega agreed to caused Sonic 3 to be released with a specific deadline for the deal, and because they couldn't finish the entire game by this deadline, they released the first half for the McDonalds deal.
I think the babylonians built hidden palace comes from the fact that alien artifacts are known to be around the echidnaruins(like for example the black arms-ruins from shadow the hedgehog have to be close because knuckles is there before the conflict really ran its course) and the fact that the sol dimension-counterpart of a connected location, sky sanctuary, is called sky babylon. Also, the part about shoes being part of sonic is proven nonsence because eggman swapped his shoes with slowshoes in labyrinth and he switched shoes himself for one game in SA2. And SA1 has internetfunctionality, achivements in the newer releases and an actual feature on the dreamcastversion, come on. As an aside, if anyone knows what 16:11 is supposed to be, then please tell me. I am really interessted xD I guess it COULD be a reference to the windpaths that also later appear in kingdom valley in 06, but what is that thing about a secret? Is that a creepypasta or is it some kind of hoax like the master boomerang from OOT?
not only that in cannon, tails made sonic's now metal bottom shoes to he could maximise his speed as previously his nomral rubber/leather bottom shoes wpuld burn up if he ran too fast, hence why modern sonic runs significantly faster than classic.
3:02 "There have been a lot of stand out sonic fangames recently. Such as the Sonic 2 HD Project, *Sonic Robo Blast* " After hearing this, I died inside. The game has been worked on since about 20 years ago and it was called recent.
Something I never really see people talk about is a glaring plot hole in SA2: When Eggman broke into the G.U.N. base to recover Shadow from his Cryo-Stasis, he was tripping all kinds of alarms, forcing his way to the chamber where Shadow was being held in the least stealthy way possible. He proceeds to make it all the way to the chamber, sets Shadow free, and then Shadow proceeds to rob a bank to steal a Chaos Emerald. G.U.N. therefore should have been painfully aware of the situation, and knew that Shadow was responsible for the bank heist. So why is it that G.U.N. arrested Sonic for it? Sonic was something of a celebrity hero by then, everyone knew who he was and therefore they should have easily known that he and Shadow are different, and that Shadow was responsible for the crime. The news media mistaking Shadow for Sonic is one thing, since nobody knew who Shadow was yet. However, G.U.N. themselves have no excuse.
7:43 I’m pretty sure that the “Fun is Infinite” screen was supposed to be more lighthearted. The Japanese version of the game has different music, which makes that screen a bit less weird/scary.
@@taputrainer8463 yeah, it's really sad actually, and kinda creepy for a sonic game to do that, and also that was on a game gear! Imagine if they made that bad ending when technology advanced? Sadness overload.
7:54 Ok, so, about this one... It was revealed that it was a proposital inner joke between the devs of the game, and a little bit to scare people tho There is also a version where it says "~ Satan" on the side of the message, which was also a nickname for one of the devs of the game.
Love these types of videos and loved this one. It’s exactly what it needs to be, just explaining the iceberg, no forced jokes or anything. Love it mate well done
Dude! That music you started off the video with IMMEDIATELY gave me ptsd. The anxiety from hearing that music as a kid letting you know you're about to die has never left me still to this day!
i really liked this one honestly, your narration is super nice and steady and it sounds like you legit care about what you're saying, which is important. only issue would probably be the audio mixing, like no joke i got kinda terrified when the ring sound first appeared lmao
Nice to see more iceberg videos from fans! I just wanna express some (missed) things that urked me here-- just stuff from memory if you want material for an update or somethin' idk i need mental help - EDIT: Just to be clear, I liked the video, and these notes are just meant to go alongside it, not start any fights or anything :) -06 Campaign Multiplayer While there are unused bits like the Shadow/Sonic level evidence, I think those likely refer to the "amigo" system in the final game-- the three hedgehogs and various characters meet up in singleplayer levels sometimes in the final game. In Sonic '06, though, there are also unused graphics for a multiplayer mode that include P1/2/3/4 icons in the style of P1's from the final game as well as a list of 1st/2nd/3rd/4th-Place icons, implying there was going to be a multiplayer more robust than the final game's janky, yet weirdly-technically-sound 2-player VS/Co-Op modes. -Dunkey Reference/Freedom Fighters like guns? Nothing inaccurate here, just wanted to note that the Dunkey Reference is a little more obscure than just going to HydroCity, requiring a different version of the Sonic 3 level select to be used first, and how it's a possible 'thank you' to Dunkey for putting Sonic 3 in his Best of 2016 video. Fans also theorize that the easter egg was taken out by Sega's request/demand, which is fitting with how meddling they were toward the end of Mania's development. The question about the Freedom Fighters likely refers to their constant savvy use of technology, including guns in some media/pages-- it makes me wonder whether certain specific freedom fighters actively enjoy stuff like that or if they just feel the need to use them in the fight. -Sonic Xtreme There are also various videos of the game that can be found around the internet, and the game also has ties to NiGHTS, working on (allegedly) the same engine and being a possible prototype of sorts. The Saturn also adds to a bit of the creep factor with this, since it was such a failure, and not having a main-line Sonic game didn't help it. Also, cuz why not, there was a skateboarding game pitch/demo titled "Sonic Extreme" that also exists as found media. -Original Windy Valley The files for Beta Windy Valley can actually be found in the final game, with broken textures and some non-working level gimmicks. Restoring it has always kind of been a Sonic Adventure tidbit. Also, one of the pictures of Big in the final game's opening shows him in front of Beta Windy Valley, which is a level he doesn't even play. Tails has one there too, though it's harder to notice. -Tails Doll Again, just notes; in the Sonic Gems Collection, you can listen to a bonus track called "Can You Feel The Sunshine ACID Mix", which is a notably more creepy take on the song, with a weird name too. CYFTS in reverse works well enough too, I just think it's neat that they've been playing into it for so long. Also I don't remember which video, and it also had joke references like Big The Cat, but there was a Halloween teaser or something on the Sonic Twitter that officially made reference to the Tails Doll with a little jumpscare. -Sonic Movie design operation note; not gonna out anyone, but I know an insider that gets access to Paramount screenings, and they did a LOT of testing with the original Sonic design, and its new versionS. It was definitely not a marketing stunt. -Sonic Team Vacation If I recall correctly, Sonic Team went to a wide variety of locations to get inspiration for Adventure's levels. They took lots of pictures including beautiful ruins that inspired places like the Echidna Tribe locations-- some textures for their pyramids (ziggurats?) are direct photographs. -Final Judgement Skybox The sunny pink skybox of Final Judgement is significant mainly because, well, 1 the stage is entirely indoors inside Eggman architecture, but 2 because at that point in the game's story, the sky is all stormy, so the fact that it has a UNIQUE skybox not shared by any other level is just neat, even if it didn't imply potential things about maybe the clouds getting cleared as time goes on or an epilogue cutscene or whatever. -GUN or G.U.N I also wanna mention that the 4Kids Sonic X dub (ew) made CERTAIN to always call the organization "G.U.N" because, well... you know, 4Kids and guns. I also sometimes think about how on-the-nose it is, especially in-universe, that this highly-polarizing military force responsible for things like city destruction in pursuit of a a falsely-identified hedgehog and multiple human deaths raiding a space station funded by the government is called "GUN", but I digress. -Secret Messages in Sonic CD extra notes: the "Fun is Infinite, with Sega Enterprises!" is also signed "Majin", which can be translated as "devil", hence the other theory, though it was apparently the developer's nickname. You also have to mention how much LESS terrifying the screen is with the original soundtrack, where it's a lot funkier and kind of just vibes with the Japanese-style humor of Sonic with a funny human face, also not totally unlike, say, the Batman reference screen. There's also a "CX" placed with level assets in Quartz Quadrant, that is likely a signature of the map designer. Also, one of Sonic CD's prototypes has a funny debug message in special stages that talks about the Programmer taking a nap, and the "Fun is Infinite" thing was later referenced in a Sonic TH-cam channel commercial (yes) on Adult Swim, before the text was altered in later versions. -SonicChu Not a single human on the planet with blame you for not going deeper into the Chris-Chan rabbit hole here, but I want to mention that anyone interested should absolutely look into it more themselves. For now, though, SonicChu is very closely-guarded as copyright by Chris-Chan, especially for a character based on two existing ones, and the character has made surprise appearances in certain other fanworks that I guess I won't spoil or strain myself looking into. -Sonic Bible The Sonic Bible was more than just a scrapped lore concept-- it was used by various western adaptations of Sonic, which first touched the main series as early as Sonic 2, where Greg Martin's Americanized Sonic design influenced some of the sprite-work (notice how Sonic's spines, unlike any other classic game, resemble his "Mohawk" style when seen from behind). The Sonic Bible elaborates further into the non-Earth setting for Sonic that would eventually go on to cause a rift between US and JP Sonic fans that were operating under hilariously mis-matched storylines because no one in the US gave a fuck about what the JP lore was-- but back to the point, the Sonic Bible was directly used as a base for EU's Sonic The Comic by Fleetway, which included depictions of the origin story. We are now operating all under the same general lore concept for Sonic across the globe, but the Sonic Bible was NOT an obscure and forgotten pitch, especially emblematically. -Shadow Is Sonic's Prototype While I'm not too crazy about the theory in regards to Shadow's "true ultimate lifeform" comment, since the pair often give each other praise in regards to each others' qualities (especially in the original JP writing, which includes neat things like a SA2 callback in Heroes), and Shadow himself didn't even know about the BioLizard, I do think the theory has some weight when you consider how similar the two characters are and how Shadow was around 50+ years before Sonic-- and where did Sonic even come from?(in the actual story, not the weird non-canon Bible). I also just don't agree with the Sonic 3 mural thing, since there's no real analogue to that scene Knuckles mis-interprets and fights Sonic over, but hey, it's not like Sonic 3 had no relevance to the Adventure games. -Hidden Palace was built by The Babylonians Looking at places like Babylon Garden, I don't think it's SUPER unlikely that the Babylonians could have built Hidden Palace zone, especially since the Echidnas are the portrayed as the guardians of the Emeralds and where they reside, not necessarily the people who build it all, but this theory is kind of just hearsay. There's probably some other obscure link theorists have that I would honestly love to hear. BRUH YT said my comment was too long, see the first reply for the second half, I hope this doesn't get deleted lol
-SADX and Speed Edit: I left in my inane ramblings, but just read this part and then skip to the next section cuz I found it lmao. There's an advert for Sonic Adventure DX that directly references the boxart/poster for Speed. It reads "GET READY FOR THE GREATEST EVER." in place of Speed's "GET READY FOR RUSH HOUR", and while im not 100% certain, I wouldn't be surprised if this, along with the "speed" motif of course, was a reason Speed was the movie the main trio of the Sonic The Hedgehog live action movie watch at the beginning. 'Glad I got that figured out lol, feel free to read my confusion or skip right to "The Sonic Skeleton". Honestly, the only thing here that could possibly come to mind is the poster present in Tails' final boss, which was later removed in the DX port, where "Chao in Space" is replaced by a poster for "The Man 3" from the SA1 Autodemo. The poster doesn't really look like Speed's, but it's closer than most things in the game I guess? And DX making sure to remove it is kind of weird/note-worthy?? The only other thing I can think of would be the concept that going too slow as Tails results in you losing or something? The final chase with Eggman is closer in tone to Speed? That matters because of the poster???? idk at all plz help -The Sonic Skeleton I also wanna note here that Sonic CD had unused frames of Sonic doing the cartoony skeleton-light-filament thing, that were later added to the Taxman version of the game. Interestingly, Sonic Unleashed's beta uses a more brutal/scary-looking (and less """logical"""?) version of the trope where the skeleton is the darkened part and the rest of the body is lit up. -Sonic's shoes are a part of him This theory is ridiculous and likely a joke, but I do think it's neat that Dark Spines Sonic, the transformation from Secret Rings, is the ONLY time we see main-line Sonic with bare feet like certain other characters have (or have on occasion). And the shoes come back after he transforms. -Sally and Geoffrey Gonna keep this short so I don't puke, but Ken Penders also directly depicted and implied a LOT of cuckolding (specifically, romantic and sexual cheating, though I wouldn't be surprised if he has a consensual cuck fetish too), which is what Ken is referencing in that infamous tweet to some extent-- in addition to his numerous instances writing Sonic (and other characters) losing his love interests to edgy weirdos he's designed, he apparently had a passionate desire to depict Sally losing her virginity to another guy specifically... Moving on. -Eggman Speech Based on Real Tragedy I believe this refers to the grandfather of our current Eggman, Gerald, actually, since I couldn't source anything with Ivo. Head to 3:16 in Windii Gitlord's "[SUB] Sonic Adventure 2 - Last Episode - Japanese Cutscenes" for a more accurate translation of what he says in SA2. I think this entry suggests that the story of Space Colony ARK is, in-part, based on a real-life tragedy and possibly a cover-up too, like what happened with GUN and Maria/Shadow. Obviously, not directly, and the SA2 story has some ridiculous stuff in it, but Gerald and Maria's story is actually kind of sad-- her being locked away for her disease (yes, based on AIDS) while she waits for a cure only to have the military slaughter her in front of her only friend because they think the scientist is a fraud. Anyway, -Adventure Internet Tunneling Like your pinned comment mentions already, SA1, especially with Japan's earlier release and access, has a surprising amount of online features and DLC too. This entry might also be talking about some of SA2's online features, of which there are many, but "tunneling" doesn't ring a bell. -Sonic Boom post-apocalypse This one actually has a lot of circumstantial evidence. The general atmosphere of Boom seems to imply that the civilization of (entirely?) animals this time besides Eggman rose from rubble, and in Rise of Lyric especially, there's hints at ancient references to the Sonic characters from the main-line series. The way they dress helps support this at least a little bit to me, but idk. It's neat to think about, especially with all the series staples like Chaos Emeralds being entirely gone. -Boards of Canada and Sonic They sometimes record with Sonic Boom records. Laugh -Sonic CD/Forces ARG Like I mentioned before, Sega paid for ads on Adult Swim that featured an ending with text "Fun is Infinite", that was later changed to "Follow the Clues" when uploaded to the YT channel they were advertising. It was in early-to-mid 2017, so this actually lines up pretty well! I hadn't followed this ARG myself, and I don't personally know if it was advertising Forces, or how much it had to do with CD, and Googling the main buzzwords doesn't yield anything, but it is neat to think about them doing this stuff with Adult Swim ads for their YT channel (again, ???). Look for more clues yourself if you want uwu -The Underground Prophecy AFAIK, you were right and this is a joke about the Sonic Underground OP (which became a meme somehow), but I do also like thinking about the prophetic images in Sonic 3&K, like the Super Sonic mural Knuckles fights you over mis-interpreting, to all the hieroglyphs in Sandopolis, to the Sonic statues at the very top of HydroCity (like what's even up with those?). -R2 "R2", as it is called based on the level files for certain version of Sonic CD, is a cut level fans know about because of the game's full-motion animations by Toei. There is a gap between "R1" and "R3", and that gap, in the FMV Ending, is a mechanical level with the enemies you showed on-screen. Those sprites only surfaced because Christian Whitehead was given access to Sonic CD's assets for when he was making the updated port of the game for mobile/PC, and they confirm everything we thought about the "R2" stage-- what it's general theme was and the fact that assets were made for it and shown to Toei long in advance so they had time to animate the beautiful cutscenes-- of course, all before decisions like cutting stages from the game would have happened. I'm also not sure why it's so far down on the iceberg. WElp, that was an adventure. I don't have a good outro. I hope TH-cam doesn't delete my comment k thx bye

5:60 I know about this! In the development of sonic adventure the people tried to change the design from classic sonic to modern sonic and therefore classic sonic could’ve been a playable character
6:10 Sonic Team Vacation was actually to Guatemala where they looked at some ancient ruins for references for the Lost World stage, not Emerald Coast. Two sites that they went to are Tikal and The Lost World. Both of which were referenced in the game, one as a character, and one as a stage. Do a quick Google search for Tikal ruins and you'll find The Lost World nearby.
I nearly cried when it said Mushroom Hill Zone in the bottom left corner over Emerald Hill footage... then I realised it was justing listing the music playing.
I watched a similar video about the “sonic iceberg” (it was on Spanish) and in the 06 co-op part they did have the voiceclips, these voiceclips were basically a character saying “(insert other character here), I leave it up to you!” Or “(one or two characters’ name), Leave it to me!” And it’d be every character telling this to the rest of the cast. I think it may have been like changing characters (and/or player as you change change characters) in a level
I thought we had a collective understanding that the Sonic CD hidden messages were all just silly little digital illustrations put in by the game artists. The Fun Is Infinite screen was designed by Masato Nishimura, the game's landscape designer. as an unrelated fun tidbit; the DJ Sonic screen was drawn by Kazuyuki Hoshino, who is credited as the creator of Amy and Metal Sonic
4:55 the original windy valley has been restored in sonic adventure pc. One day an autodemo (a demo of the game in real time) with old layout of level has been restored, now most of the levels can be played in a beta version named "autodemo" level, all you have to do is download the mod you want
About the sonic vacation, yes they took a trip around the world to get reference for the stages and must importantly the Mayan temple, there's a picture out there that the sonic team took of a stuffed sonic doll being placed in the same frame of the Mayan temple.
this iceberg lacks Sonic 2 Special Edition. S2SE was a meme that became popular after a user on a website (possibly 4Chan, i don't really remember) talked about a game his dad worked on with SEGA that had never been released. The "discovery" was so badly documented and really poorly explained that many people decided to stay with the obvious false news and create an entire "research" into the existence of the game. there is a series on youtube and a review uploaded on April 1st 2020 (so yeah, the joke still holds today) [edit] There's also another thing missing in the iceberg: the Sonic Mania & Sonic Forces marketing conspirancy. this comes from an obvious perspective of how the storyline is used in both games, especially Sonic Forces. the Phantom ruby from Sonic Mania appears in this spiritual sequel where is used by Infinite for evil things. Classic Sonic here is simply a "Sonic from another universe", that uses the drop dash just like in Sonic Mania. This Sonic cames out from a portal that is also shown at the end of Mania, and at the end of the game, he disappears waving goodbye with the left hand... ...the same hand that will be raised at the beginning of Sonic Mania Adventures. Both games will be released in the same year (with several months apart), and they were re-released together in a bundle (this encourages the conspirancy even more). TL; DR Sonic Mania and Forces were released at the same time as an chance to have a double success (although one was SEGA's best game, while the other was badly rushed due to the hedgehog engine 2 being created at the same time with the game, ending with a short and mediocre game)
I like to think shadow would have been an alternative character in daytime levels and knuckles would have been an alt for night time levels if they were in unleashed.
Yeah, it’s kinda obvious they didn’t have time to do better takes for 06. In fact, when the GUN agent tells you to head for Wave Ocean as Shadow, he actually stumbles it up and says the line again. They kept an outtake in the game. That was the good line.
A few years ago I had a dream where I was playing a mobile Sonic game on a tablet. After a while I found out about Sonic runners and it looked exactly like what I was playing in my dream, despite me never hearing about it at the time (it was also taken off the app store by the time I found out). Oddly enough, I'm not even a Sonic fan.
The Sonic Adventure vacation definitely happened (there are photos from their trip on the internet), but it was to South America for their research that led to the temple in Mystic Forest and the Echidna Tribe civilization
Thanks for making a video about the sonic iceberg image, it's about time lol. Though ngl, that iceberg itself and not the video, was a bit underwhelming since there was alot of obscure information I know of that weren't on the image, for example Michael Jackson's involvement in Sonic the Hedgehog 3's early development but later got cut out. Genuinely surprised it wasn't on there, but yea great video man 👍
6:10 Sonic Team's vacation was actually to the ruins of Machu Pichu, in Peru. A lot of the textures used in Sonic Adventure come from direct photographs taken on the digsites there. Mystic Ruins, Lost World, the emerald shrine, the pyramid from both the present and past flashbacks are very much inspired by what they saw there.
I don’t get the whole „you can always unsubscribe in the future” thing. Like, if I’m planning on unsubscribing in the future, why the fuck would I subscribe in the first place? Additionally, what does a youtuber have to gain from a subscription if he’s going to lose it anyways? It makes no sense.
You have a point. Its not like youre asking your subscribers to dislike if they didn’t like the video, because that gives you valuable feedback. Subscribing just to unsubscribe later does absolutely nothing
Not gonna lie that drowning music scared the ever loving fck out of me when it speed up a lot but for whatever reason I always did it just enough to spook me then I would get out of the water and repeat the process like 5 times idk why but that beginning just brought back those memories
The fact thatso much of the iceberg are full of bullshit creepypastas disappoints me, like there are so many weird and unknown things in sonic as a franchise that could have filled the list.
I wonder if the iceberg has changed any since Frontiers came out. Also, there was no mention of 2 of my favorites: 1. Rookie in Forces was crammed in at a late stage of development because Sega originally planned to bring Boom Sonic into the game. This is a very little-known fringe theory, but one I actually believe, because the wire attack is very similar to Boom's enerbeams; and, when you beat the game, articles of clothing you get as a reward include Boom Sonic's bandanna. 2. Metal is a roboticized Sonic from Little Planet's bad future. This entirely fan-made and I don't agree with it... but if you look at the whole story, it kinda makes sense.
The thing about the Sonic Team vacation was because they went to South America, and the ancient Mayan temples were the inspiration for The Mystic Ruins.

*Adventure Internet Tunneling* - the original release of Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast had Internet features and DLC,i'm not sure if the "internet tunneling" part refers to browsing the Internet via said features SA had thought

9:32 I’m pretty sure that mural actually refers and predicts the final confrontation of the game with Super Sonic and Dr. Robotnik in the Doomsday Zone
Yea it’s clear as day.
and the theory goes that eggman’s grandfather saw the murel based off super sonic and decided to model shadow after the mural.
I will mention a few things that I dont think people brought up:
*Do the Freedom Fighters like Guns? - This is actually referring to an infamous line Rotor Walrus says during the arc when Fiona Fox temporarily joins the Freedom Fighters, however this line is very contradictory as previous issues have shown the freedom fighters using guns
*Sonic Team Vacation - Somewhat. It was a vacation to get references for stages, but not for Emerald Coast. Instead, Sonic Team went to Mexico to visit ancient Mayan sites as well as the ancient cities of Tikal and Pachacamac to gather references for Mystic Ruins and the stages surrounding it. I dont recall if it was Yuji Naka or Takashi Iizuka who talked about a story where, despite the fun the team had, a lot of them got sick during the trip
*Windy Valley "God of Wind" - I think this has MAYBE something to do with the statue that you put the crystal into in front of Windy Valley? Idk
Thank you a lot for the new info! Might make a follow-up on the video in a few days to discuss what I got wrong
also, regarding the sonic team vacation thing...the team actually did sand boarding during a trip to South Ammerica, which inspired a similar minigame in sonic adventure.
I'm 100% confident that "Big Blue" refers to how in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sonic can run faster than the F-Zero machines when wearing a Bunny Hood.

"GUN or G-U.N." are not only abbreviated differently in writing, but outright in reading too, some games characters saying "djee you en" and some games it's just "gun"
"Feels the Rabbit" worth pointing the design is unnamed, and Feels is a fan name, based on a later couple Sonic Team games for the DS - Feel the Magic XY/XX and The Rub Rabbits
"Terios" There's multiple pics of concept art Shadow by now. We don't know at what point the character got renamed by Shadow, so any Shadow concept art is Terios. Even sticking to the "Sonic with scar" concept, there's multiple pictures and attempts
"Riders Super Sonic is Shadow"- maybe referring to how Super Sonic in Riders kept the Adventure hairdo (that Shadow shares) while the main games stopped using it in Heroes
"Tails' Death"- possibly also referring to the rumours that Tails would die in the next Sonic game, which ended up being Sonic Forces (which might've been planned at some point actually, as that statement was in the middle of a lot of genuine leaked info) and how for ages later Aaron Webber would keep joking about Tails dying soon in official streams
Tails death actually refers to the theory mentioned in the video that in the bad ending to Sonic 2 Tails dies.
Koopa Kaper
Only the Gamegear version though.

I was terrified when he got to "The Abyss". That music was horrifying.
I don’t have any photos of this.
(SHOWS A PHOTO.)
This was so interesting to see. A lot of things about the Sonic franchise I had no idea about.
"GUN or G.U.N.?"
Personally, Gun. I like it for pew pew.
7:43 I’m pretty sure that the “Fun is Infinite” screen was supposed to be more lighthearted. The Japanese version of the game has different music, which makes that screen a bit less weird/scary.
The abyss’s music scared me more than tails’s death
Bruh I remember getting no sleep because of being afraid of tails doll
13:51 oh my gosh I LOVE their videos! Also I subscribed. Keep it up!
I think the "Tails Is Dead" is just an over-look
Tails is dead refers to the theory that Tails dies in the game gear version of Sonic 2 when you get the bad ending
@@taputrainer8463 yeah, it's really sad actually, and kinda creepy for a sonic game to do that, and also that was on a game gear! Imagine if they made that bad ending when technology advanced? Sadness overload.
@@taputrainer8463 well yes, but i dont think SEGA didnt think that people would go that far
7:54 Ok, so, about this one...
It was revealed that it was a proposital inner joke between the devs of the game, and a little bit to scare people tho
There is also a version where it says "~ Satan" on the side of the message, which was also a nickname for one of the devs of the game.
Love these types of videos and loved this one. It’s exactly what it needs to be, just explaining the iceberg, no forced jokes or anything. Love it mate well done
Very interesting! The video format reminds me of Cybershell’s videos!
Oh wow, hearing that is like a huge compliment as cybershell is one of my biggest inspirations. Thank you so much!
No problem! I hope you make more in the future!
I clicked on this thinking i was gonna learn about an iceberg called sonic the hedgehog lmao fml
Ah yes, the literal Sonic the Hedgehog iceberg. My favorite world landmark.
Dude! That music you started off the video with IMMEDIATELY gave me ptsd. The anxiety from hearing that music as a kid letting you know you're about to die has never left me still to this day!
I love these iceberg videos. I don’t even like sonic the hedgehog but I love learning obscure facts about various fandoms.
I wonder where "SONIC HAS PASSED" would fit on this list?
"Riders Super Sonic is Shadow" probabily is about the Super Sonic model in riders being the same used for Shadow
i really liked this one honestly, your narration is super nice and steady and it sounds like you legit care about what you're saying, which is important. only issue would probably be the audio mixing, like no joke i got kinda terrified when the ring sound first appeared lmao
Nice to see more iceberg videos from fans! I just wanna express some (missed) things that urked me here-- just stuff from memory if you want material for an update or somethin' idk i need mental help - EDIT: Just to be clear, I liked the video, and these notes are just meant to go alongside it, not start any fights or anything :)
-06 Campaign Multiplayer
While there are unused bits like the Shadow/Sonic level evidence, I think those likely refer to the "amigo" system in the final game-- the three hedgehogs and various characters meet up in singleplayer levels sometimes in the final game.
-Sonic Xtreme
There are also various videos of the game that can be found around the internet, and the game also has ties to NiGHTS, working on (allegedly) the same engine and being a possible prototype of sorts. The Saturn also adds to a bit of the creep factor with this, since it was such a failure, and not having a main-line Sonic game didn't help it. Also, cuz why not, there was a skateboarding game pitch/demo titled "Sonic Extreme" that also exists as found media.
-Original Windy Valley
The files for Beta Windy Valley can actually be found in the final game, with broken textures and some non-working level gimmicks. Restoring it has always kind of been a Sonic Adventure tidbit. Also, one of the pictures of Big in the final game's opening shows him in front of Beta Windy Valley, which is a level he doesn't even play. Tails has one there too, though it's harder to notice.
-Tails Doll
Again, just notes; in the Sonic Gems Collection, you can listen to a bonus track called "Can You Feel The Sunshine ACID Mix", which is a notably more creepy take on the song, with a weird name too.
-Sonic Movie design operation
note; not gonna out anyone, but I know an insider that gets access to Paramount screenings, and they did a LOT of testing with the original Sonic design, and its new versionS. It was definitely not a marketing stunt.
-Sonic Team Vacation
If I recall correctly, Sonic Team went to a wide variety of locations to get inspiration for Adventure's levels. They took lots of pictures including beautiful ruins that inspired places like the Echidna Tribe locations-- some textures for their pyramids (ziggurats?) are direct photographs.
-Final Judgement Skybox
The sunny pink skybox of Final Judgement is significant mainly because, well, 1 the stage is entirely indoors inside Eggman architecture, but 2 because at that point in the game's story, the sky is all stormy, so the fact that it has a UNIQUE skybox not shared by any other level is just neat, even if it didn't imply potential things about maybe the clouds getting cleared as time goes on or an epilogue cutscene or whatever.
-GUN or G.U.N
I also wanna mention that the 4Kids Sonic X dub (ew) made CERTAIN to always call the organization "G.U.N" because, well... you know, 4Kids and guns. I also sometimes think about how on-the-nose it is, especially in-universe, that this highly-polarizing military force responsible for things like city destruction in pursuit of a a falsely-identified hedgehog and multiple human deaths raiding a space station funded by the government is called "GUN", but I digress.
-Secret Messages in Sonic CD
extra notes: the "Fun is Infinite, with Sega Enterprises!" is also signed "Majin", which can be translated as "devil", hence the other theory, though it was apparently the developer's nickname.
-SonicChu
Not a single human on the planet with blame you for not going deeper into the Chris-Chan rabbit hole here, but I want to mention that anyone interested should absolutely look into it more themselves. For now, though, SonicChu is very closely-guarded as copyright by Chris-Chan, especially for a character based on two existing ones, and the character has made surprise appearances in certain other fanworks that I guess I won't spoil or strain myself looking into.
-Sonic Bible
The Sonic Bible was more than just a scrapped lore concept-- it was used by various western adaptations of Sonic, which first touched the main series as early as Sonic 2, where Greg Martin's Americanized Sonic design influenced some of the sprite-work (notice how Sonic's spines, unlike any other classic game, resemble his "Mohawk" style when seen from behind).
-Shadow Is Sonic's Prototype
While I'm not too crazy about the theory in regards to Shadow's "true ultimate lifeform" comment, since the pair often give each other praise in regards to each others' qualities (especially in the original JP writing, which includes neat things like a SA2 callback in Heroes), and Shadow himself didn't even know about the BioLizard, I do think the theory has some weight when you consider how similar the two characters are and how Shadow was around 50+ years before Sonic-- and where did Sonic even come from?(in the actual story, not the weird non-canon Bible). I also just don't agree with the Sonic 3 mural thing, since there's no real analogue to that scene Knuckles mis-interprets and fights Sonic over, but hey, it's not like Sonic 3 had no relevance to the Adventure games.
-Hidden Palace was built by The Babylonians
Looking at places like Babylon Garden, I don't think it's SUPER unlikely that the Babylonians could have built Hidden Palace zone, especially since the Echidnas are the portrayed as the guardians of the Emeralds and where they reside, not necessarily the people who build it all, but this theory is kind of just hearsay. There's probably some other obscure link theorists have that I would honestly love to hear.
BRUH YT said my comment was too long, see the first reply for the second half, I hope this doesn't get deleted lol
-SADX and Speed
Edit: I left in my inane ramblings, but just read this part and then skip to the next section cuz I found it lmao.
That matters because of the poster???? idk at all plz help
-The Sonic Skeleton
I also wanna note here that Sonic CD had unused frames of Sonic doing the cartoony skeleton-light-filament thing, that were later added to the Taxman version of the game. Interestingly, Sonic Unleashed's beta uses a more brutal/scary-looking (and less """logical"""?) version of the trope where the skeleton is the darkened part and the rest of the body is lit up.
-Sonic's shoes are a part of him
This theory is ridiculous and likely a joke, but I do think it's neat that Dark Spines Sonic, the transformation from Secret Rings, is the ONLY time we see main-line Sonic with bare feet like certain other characters have (or have on occasion). And the shoes come back after he transforms.
-Sally and Geoffrey
Gonna keep this short so I don't puke, but Ken Penders also directly depicted and implied a LOT of cuckolding (specifically, romantic and sexual cheating, though I wouldn't be surprised if he has a consensual cuck fetish too), which is what Ken is referencing in that infamous tweet to some extent-- in addition to his numerous instances writing Sonic (and other characters) losing his love interests to edgy weirdos he's designed, he apparently had a passionate desire to depict Sally losing her virginity to another guy specifically... Moving on.
-Eggman Speech Based on Real Tragedy
I believe this refers to the grandfather of our current Eggman, Gerald, actually, since I couldn't source anything with Ivo. Anyway,
-Adventure Internet Tunneling
Like your pinned comment mentions already, SA1, especially with Japan's earlier release and access, has a surprising amount of online features and DLC too. This entry might also be talking about some of SA2's online features, of which there are many, but "tunneling" doesn't ring a bell.
-Sonic Boom post-apocalypse
This one actually has a lot of circumstantial evidence.
-Boards of Canada and Sonic
They sometimes record with Sonic Boom records. Laugh
-Sonic CD/Forces ARG
Like I mentioned before, Sega paid for ads on Adult Swim that featured an ending with text "Fun is Infinite", that was later changed to "Follow the Clues" when uploaded to the YT channel they were advertising. Look for more clues yourself if you want uwu
-The Underground Prophecy
AFAIK, you were right and this is a joke about the Sonic Underground OP (which became a meme somehow), but I do also like thinking about the prophetic images in Sonic 3&K, like the Super Sonic mural Knuckles fights you over mis-interpreting, to all the hieroglyphs in Sandopolis, to the Sonic statues at the very top of HydroCity (like what's even up with those?).
-R2
"R2", as it is called based on the level files for certain version of Sonic CD, is a cut level fans know about because of the game's full-motion animations by Toei.

I know about this!
I love this new wave of 'ice berg' content it's really entertaining to see what other video game subject's lore have in them
I nearly cried when it said Mushroom Hill Zone in the bottom left corner over Emerald Hill footage... then I realised it was justing listing the music playing.
Emerald hill gameplay: shows
Him: Ima put the wrong music
6:52 that is a genuinely horrifying ghost model. gg sonic team.
The Eggman is King Arthur theory doesn't make sense because at the end of Black Knight, it's revealed that Sonic is King Arthur's counterpart.
I think it may have been like changing characters (and/or player as you change change characters) in a level
damn not bad
“One again I do not know what the hell this is”
Hell, its a sub from me.
I love me some sonic and you did a hell of a job on this video. Good job man
This content takes me right back to around 2014-2015. It's so silly, and I love it.
This is the one I've wanted the longest thanks.

About the sonic vacation, yes they took a trip around the world to get reference for the stages and must importantly the Mayan temple, there's a picture out there that the sonic team took of a stuffed sonic doll being placed in the same frame of the Mayan temple.
The black knight is Memphis the dark, or should I say Memphis the black knight.

this iceberg lacks Sonic 2 Special Edition.
S2SE was a meme that became popular after a user on a website (possibly 4Chan, i don't really remember) talked about a game his dad worked on with SEGA that had never been released.
The "discovery" was so badly documented and really poorly explained that many people decided to stay with the obvious false news and create an entire "research" into the existence of the game.
there is a series on youtube and a review uploaded on April 1st 2020 (so yeah, the joke still holds today)
[edit] There's also another thing missing in the iceberg: the Sonic Mania & Sonic Forces marketing conspirancy.
this comes from an obvious perspective of how the storyline is used in both games, especially Sonic Forces.
the Phantom ruby from Sonic Mania appears in this spiritual sequel where is used by Infinite for evil things.
TL; DR Sonic Mania and Forces were released at the same time as an chance to have a double success (although one was SEGA's best game, while the other was badly rushed due to the hedgehog engine 2 being created at the same time with the game, ending with a short and mediocre game)
sonic 2 special edition was a lets play done on something awful by docfuture1

I like to think shadow would have been an alternative character in daytime levels and knuckles would have been an alt for night time levels if they were in unleashed.
switch it, shadow in night stages sounds amazing, and knuckles in day (fighting) stages is also super dank
@@BBWahoo how about both
@@Gusername That is a great idea too c; with evening stages in the mix
Yeah, it’s kinda obvious they didn’t have time to do better takes for 06. In fact, when the GUN agent tells you to head for Wave Ocean as Shadow, he actually stumbles it up and says the line again. They kept an outtake in the game. That was the good line.
Imagine waking up at night and locking eyes with someone wearing one of the sonic masks
I think the best person to cover this would be Cybershell, if he didn't leave again

I get scared by the ghost jumpscares in pumpkin hill, so you gave me major anxiety while showcasing gameplay for it. funny moment.
4:29 I still have a soft spot for it, even if it’s terrible.
I think Tails Doll should've been surface level or on the Iceberg.
The Sonic Adventure vacation definitely happened (there are photos from their trip on the internet), but it was to South America for their research that led to the temple in Mystic Forest and the Echidna Tribe civilization
congrats on 300 subs :)
Genuinely surprised it wasn't on there, but yea great video man 👍
No "Sally Acorn Doll Has a Human Skeleton"?
That's prime iceberg material.
Missed opportunity to have said "Let's take a dive IN AQUATIC MINE" in the intro.
You definitely deserve more subs.
Also 🐙 hugs 😆

Also you mispelt Iceberg as Iceburg in the Middle part

Always a a good idea to start you video out with an anxiety attack.
I wonder if the iceberg has changed any since Frontiers came out.
Also, there was no mention of 2 of my favorites:
FINALLY, a sonic the hedgehog iceberg!!
Determinedly swimming Tails is adorable
