Personally, I think Raditz was the most under-utilized Saiyan in Dragon Ball Z. I mean, he was the brother of Goku, something that had a lot of potential, and he just gets killed off in under 5 episodes and is treated as just another bad guy. Yeah, I think he should have lived a bit longer.

Dragon Ball Super is flipping everything around against GT. The Pilaf Gang was pretty much enemies and irrelevant in GT, but was brought back 'good' in DBS. No. 17 was a villain in GT, but is a hero in DBS. Goku being the hero 100% of the time in GT, but DBS was able to somehow make Goku the villain. lol Luud was a villain in GT, kind of still is, but one of the gods of destruction (good?) resembles Luud. I guess the Dragon Balls are still good as Super Dragon Balls (good) vs Black-Star Dragon Balls (bad) I'm surprised they didn't make Frieza good. lol Maybe the two saiyans will make a comeback as I'm waiting for tuffles to be good somehow as all tuffles in Dragon Ball series were villains. Idk, just general ideas. CYA!
But the the thing is Vegeta would not know about it because Goten and Trunks would save her befor Bulma and Vegeta even knew about it because this idea would not only give Goten and Trunks more screen time but it would make Trunnks look like a better brother..And Goten is there because Trunks would force him to help.

I have to admit that when I first clicked on this video I was expecting the content to be kinda cheesy... BUT DAMN WAS I WRONG!! This was a cool and imaginative vid with a PHENOMENAL analysis. Much respect to 'MasakoX'. Although I feel I should point out that if Raditz DID save Piccolo's life then Vegeta would almost certainly have been killed. I can't see Piccolo(at this point in the story) sparing Vegeta the same way that Goku and Krillin did at the end of the battle.
Well currently we've got some fan manga's that are incomplete, one is Dragon Ball Zoku and this other one by JS Candy Hell who unfortunately stopped using Patreon for some reason, I am hoping by the time they are complete there can be an Audio Comic Dub for them.

Seeing as how he was actually my favorite canon Saiyan character within the the Z series (behind Bardock and Broly, but they were movie-only characters), I would've loved if this had been the original story for Raditz. Great theory.

Of course, Raditz the pick up artist would be a more terrible creature than any ever before seen in Dragon Ball.
After one year, this What If has become the most fleshed out, and most beloved, by both fans and creator. It even got its own fanime: Dragonball R&R. I figured its best to visit where it all began.
I don't remember where it was (maybe Tenkaichi 2) but this idea has been explored in the DBEU. It was a lot simpler too. All it took was Raditz falling on his head and losing his memories like Goku did.
Tenkaichi 2 had an alternate scenario named Fateful Brothers, in which Raditz loses the fight against Piccolo, then tries to kill Piccolo with a Saibaman. However the Saibaman was defective and attacked Raditz, giving him a temporary amnesia. For about 6 months Raditz works woth the Z fighters, then his memories come back, he kidnaps his, nephew Gohan, is killed, and his final words are warning Goku. In his final moments he has a fight with his father, inside his head, and dies peacefully knocked out.
Pechi Someone else said that Raditz during that moment (Butokai Tenkaichi 2) had that same scenario but instead of dying in his head knocked out, but rather took his pod and crashes it into Vegeta and Nappa's, killing them with him. But I haven't played that sadly...
we also have to remember Goku has showed mercy To Freiza, Vegeta and gave up fighting cell so his son Gohan can fight him instead. Goku also teamed up Piccolo,Vegeta,Uub(remember Goku has the dragon to bring him back as a good guy) so seeing Goku giving his brother Raditz a second chance is not too far fetched and also he could teach him to go SS and SSGSS etc..
Raditz and Goku’s families are the equivalent of the Adams family to the saiyan. I can totally see Bardock’s and Gine’s neighborhs callings them weirdos back then.

I know, I've just been watching a lot of DBZ Abridged and its impossible not to love their Nappa. But even in canon I can't help but feel a little sorry that after serving Vegeta his whole life he is killed because he lost one battle.
One big flaw: piccolo doesn't train gohan if he doesn't know the sayans are coming.... If anything, he would actually kill gohan since he was able to see his potential and could be a threat to his plans of controlling the planet.
Nope, the entire reason he took Gohan was that he thought that Gohan's potential would be very useful to his plan to conquer the world. The Saiyans coming just gave him more of a reason to kidnap him.
Would Goku have Senzu Beans to heal Raditz? Because when Goku arrived, he had one last Senzu for Gohan and Krillin to share. This time he could give it to Raditz. It doesn't sound like Gohan and Krillin would need one in your story.
Ghost Kaiser Beerus would have likely killed them and destroyed Earth in BoG since it would be impossible to create a Super Saiyan God, that is of course if he didn't kill vegito and destroy the earth on the spot as is.
nah shenron is afraid of beerus so after learning how the god transformation works he would have asked to unfuse considering at the time we didnt know there was a time limit for the fusion then things would have played out according to the reg story. just the zamazu battle would be have to remove the time limit on the patora or make an excuse about it being one with a time limit or something
Rainbow Kicker I'm pretty everyone had to be super Saiyan, except for Videl being the exception as pan wasn't born. Everyone was super Saiyan for the transformation. Beerus would've killed them since he wouldn't be capable of a God transformation.
Raditz does feel like a character with a lot of potential that Toriyama wasted, but not the only one. Does Toriyama have some sort of problem that we need to know?
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 has a what if story that is similar. Raditz loses his memory when first meeting and fighting piccolo. He later finds goku, mistakes him for bardock and trains with goku. He later gets his memories back but he grows attached to earth and his brother so he decides to crash his pod into Nappa's and Vegeta's pod, dying a hero.
Raditz wasn't that waste of character tip he bring the Best Intro for DBZ, was awesome way to start the series, but the rest i agree for being Old brother of the Main Protagonist and had a short time in the series :/ It's sad how Raditz didn't reedemed itself like Vegeta, just for who don't know Vegeta was way more Evil and Deadly more than Raditz and Nappa in that time and then he Reedemed itself slowly for the end of the series
Raditz's purpose was to introduce us to the Saiyans, and show how ruthless and evil the people Goku comes from really are. He perfectly completed that purpose, so really, not all that wasted.
+KairiHawk They could if they used the dragon balls to wish back everyone Vegeta and Nappa killed. Or if they do end up on Namek, he could be part of the later wish they revives everyone Frieza's men killed since Vegeta worked for Frieza at the time.
The Dragon Balls could easily bring Raditz back, along with all the people Vegeta and Nappa have killed, while leaving Nappa himself dead (seeing as he's included on Vegeta's kill card). That may even be a major reason to go to Namek in and of itself, regardless of Frieza. Even if not wished back then, there's plenty of time between the destruction of Namek and Goku's return to Earth to search out Earth's Dragon Balls , and thus revive him. You could really shoehorn in Raditz' revival at any point, as long as the Dragon Balls don't absolutely need to be used then and there for something far more important. The three-year wait between the Namek and Android sagas seems like a good choice.
The Indian G-Man yass so he can go super saiyan blue because he is a full blooded saiyan and he is as strong as Vegeta so he is close to Goku think about in the Beerus Arc they wouldn't have about having a sixth saiyan because they have Raditz and Ranch! And the Frieza arc you could have three Super saiyan blues to take out Frieza! And U6 arc We could have Goku,Vegeta,Raditz,Piccolo,Monoka(Sorry if I spelled his name wrong)and we wouldn't have to worry about Buu sleeping! The Goku black arc possible he might not go that far but if he does Raditz could be there to help and could make a difference against merged Zamasu! And that will probably be it he is not going to the Tournament of power but besides that Raditz could replace Buu instead of Frieza he is more trustworthy and possibly stronger and that's it took me a while but it wasn't hard to think
He probably would be the same as Vegeta in case of character development. That's why he wasn't included anymore, the creators chose Vegeta for the role.
Palladia Apparently they only kept Vegeta around because of Fan outcry, you can see that with how much they try to kill off Vegeta and he just comes back. Also they killed off Raditz because his Hair took up too much ink...
Brilliant, and after the events of the Saiyan saga he could be wished back to life since piccolo never died. Goku would somehow hear about Frieza and want to fight him, Raddits could go with Goku and train in high gravity with him. to top it all off, the end of the Namek Saga, the two brothers and Vegeta could all lay a massive smackdown on Frieza together and avenge their race. Oh and maybe Raddits could get mortally injured during the fight, causing Goku to turn Super Saiyan.
Eternal Chaos Why wouldnt he? Goku would want to know more about his past, and from there the talk would go to Frieza. Hearing about him, Goku would want to go challenge him. Theyd show up on Namek in time to save Vegeta from a confrontation with the Ginyus, and the arc would play out quite similarly, with Raditz taking the place of Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin.
I had always hoped they would bring Radditz back one day, but I understand why they never did. Vegeta basically took the "brother" role over through his days as Goku's rival.
It'd certainly make for an interesting topic to discuss. My guess is, Kami and King Kai might have some amount of communication, and he sends the Z-Warriors to Namek in order to face this threat, having more confidence in them to take on Frieza, while at the same time, saving his kin.
Yes, this REALLY should have been addressed. There may have also been some changes to the fight with Vegeta, but that pales in comparison to the namek question. Does Frieza still go to namek, or maybe to earth where dragon balls have been confirmed to be?

The Legendary NEO Well in that one, Raditz gets his ass kicked by a Saibaman, giving him the same brain damage Goku got. It's actually more similar to Break Through the Limit. Raditz fails to beat Piccolo when he arrives because Piccolo is now stronger than him, Goku and Tien go to help him since Piccolo is the threat they know of. Afterwards, Vegeta says Raditz is a weakling and that they are going down there to kill everyone, including him. Oh yeah and Tien dies. So he goes to King Kai and learns the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb instead of Goku.
Fake Name, i was just thinking the same. raditz would gain a zenkai boost and help goku fight nappa and vegeta, thus it would be a two on one fight cause nappa would get destroyed as usual.
There were none until a week after their fight when Goku finally got one from Yajirobe or they would used it to save Tien or Piccolo who were likewise mortally injured (abeit Tien gave up all of his life energy to Tri-Beam his ass).
Your wrong, Goku had one, he gave it to Krillin when he turned up to the fight. In this version of events, Krillin would not have needed it and so Goku would have given it to Raditz as he did for Vegeta on Namek. The ending of this story is all wrong, I suspect Raditz would have survived the Sayian arc and possibly gone to Namek with Goku...or maybe with Gohan and Krillin.

Hearing MasakoX Talk about him I can actually imagine Raditz as somewhat of a trickster in battle. I can picture him fighting sort of like mercenary Tao. The moment his opponent lands a good hit he gets on his knees and pretends to give up. But once his enemy's back is turned... BAM!
Raditz would have helped Goku a lot, he would have joined the Universal Tournament, i'm sure he would start to become good because of Gohan, that's how Piccolo ended up becoming a friend and a ally for a lifetime.
But if Piccolo doesn't die then there'd be no reason to go to Namek. Therefore no Freeza, no Super Saiyan, and they'll be fucked when the androids come.

My idea is that the fight between vegeta and goku goes out around the same but with goku being a bit stronger than in the original series, because of that he gain a smaller zenkai boost than vegeta putting vegeta ahead of him, scared by having vegeta in his way to planet namek, he decides he needs to train with his brother to get stronger, since piccolo wasn't taking the hit before, he gets to save yamch from the saibaman so the z warriors train togather while goku teleports to king kai's. he finds that raditz isn't here and has to convince king yemma this is the only way for him to fight vegeta again in planet namek. king kai who knows about frieza also planning on going to planet namek decides it actually might br a good idea. the siblings train togather at king kai's place under the x10 gravity making goku as strong as he was in the original series and raditz around 1.4X the strangth of goku, however unlike vegeta, raditz is not blinded by his pride and would love to learn any technic that might help him, thus learning the kaio ken from goku and king kai. both mastering this technic they get back to earth after a year when raditz is wished back, by that time piccollo and gohan get much stronger that the original series because of their training before with raditz. krillin, like in the original series gets to join them to planet namek. goku and raditz show slightly before the ginue force are called upon. vegeta then notices the new power levels and out of curiousity as to how strong they got, shows up to fight them. first goku fights him, goku fails miserably as vegeta was also training and got the stronger zenkai boost, goku is left unconcious while raditz is raging over his brother's defeat, he easily KILLS vegeta, revenging him for everything. goku is then taken to be treated in the healing chamber while the ginue force are called. piccollo raditz and gohan and krillin fight them easily and frieza shows up. being able to use the kaio ken and being stronger than goku he is able to fight him all they way to his 4th transformation with ease. then kills piccollo instead of krillin, around this stage goku shows up. being raged from piccollo's death, the three sayans get a rage boost. after fighting frieza a bit raditz tells them of the super sayan magicle being, and the three hold their hands and focus their ki and rage to raditz making him transform into a super sayan. in the process goku and gohan faint. raditz is able to mop the floor with frieza easily and planet namek is saved in the process.
Welp, here it is, the what if that, in my opinion, truly kickstarted Masako's very own ascent to youtube greatness. While its not the first what-if he did, it is the one that got the most traction, the one that led directly into the Nappa what if, and the one that got people like me invested as subscribers. As I type this, he's even made one for what if Shenron became human, and is already 6 or so episodes in!! Thats probably one of my favorite concepts on this entire channel! I LOVE what he's made so far, and seeing Bigger Green have his time to shine as a mortal is simply wonderful :)
This is still my favorite Dragon Ball What If, even if he wasn't used much in the actual series, this makes weirdly appreciate the character so much more despise being pure fan fiction.

I have to admit that when I first clicked on this video I was expecting the content to be kinda cheesy... BUT DAMN WAS I WRONG!! This was a cool and imaginative vid with a PHENOMENAL analysis. Much respect to 'MasakoX'.
Although I feel I should point out that if Raditz DID save Piccolo's life then Vegeta would almost certainly have been killed. I can't see Piccolo(at this point in the story) sparing Vegeta the same way that Goku and Krillin did at the end of the battle.

I don't remember where it was (maybe Tenkaichi 2) but this idea has been explored in the DBEU. It was a lot simpler too. All it took was Raditz falling on his head and losing his memories like Goku did.

Tenkaichi 2 had an alternate scenario named Fateful Brothers, in which Raditz loses the fight against Piccolo, then tries to kill Piccolo with a Saibaman. However the Saibaman was defective and attacked Raditz, giving him a temporary amnesia. For about 6 months Raditz works woth the Z fighters, then his memories come back, he kidnaps his, nephew Gohan, is killed, and his final words are warning Goku. In his final moments he has a fight with his father, inside his head, and dies peacefully knocked out.
Pechi Someone else said that Raditz during that moment (Butokai Tenkaichi 2) had that same scenario but instead of dying in his head knocked out, but rather took his pod and crashes it into Vegeta and Nappa's, killing them with him. But I haven't played that sadly...

we also have to remember Goku has showed mercy To Freiza, Vegeta and gave up fighting cell so his son Gohan can fight him instead. Goku also teamed up Piccolo,Vegeta,Uub(remember Goku has the dragon to bring him back as a good guy) so seeing Goku giving his brother Raditz a second chance is not too far fetched and also he could teach him to go SS and SSGSS etc..

One big flaw: piccolo doesn't train gohan if he doesn't know the sayans are coming.... If anything, he would actually kill gohan since he was able to see his potential and could be a threat to his plans of controlling the planet.

Take one of the early episodes of dragon ball z abridged. They made the joke that piccolo took gohan despite not knowing about the saiyans.
Nope, the entire reason he took Gohan was that he thought that Gohan's potential would be very useful to his plan to conquer the world. The Saiyans coming just gave him more of a reason to kidnap him.

Budokai Tenkaichi 2 has a what if story that is similar. Raditz loses his memory when first meeting and fighting piccolo. He later finds goku, mistakes him for bardock and trains with goku. He later gets his memories back but he grows attached to earth and his brother so he decides to crash his pod into Nappa's and Vegeta's pod, dying a hero.

+KairiHawk They could if they used the dragon balls to wish back everyone Vegeta and Nappa killed. Or if they do end up on Namek, he could be part of the later wish they revives everyone Frieza's men killed since Vegeta worked for Frieza at the time.
The Dragon Balls could easily bring Raditz back, along with all the people Vegeta and Nappa have killed, while leaving Nappa himself dead (seeing as he's included on Vegeta's kill card). That may even be a major reason to go to Namek in and of itself, regardless of Frieza.
Even if not wished back then, there's plenty of time between the destruction of Namek and Goku's return to Earth to search out Earth's Dragon Balls , and thus revive him.
You could really shoehorn in Raditz' revival at any point, as long as the Dragon Balls don't absolutely need to be used then and there for something far more important. The three-year wait between the Namek and Android sagas seems like a good choice.

Goku would somehow hear about Frieza and want to fight him, Raddits could go with Goku and train in high gravity with him. to top it all off, the end of the Namek Saga, the two brothers and Vegeta could all lay a massive smackdown on Frieza together and avenge their race. Oh and maybe Raddits could get mortally injured during the fight, causing Goku to turn Super Saiyan.

The Legendary NEO Well in that one, Raditz gets his ass kicked by a Saibaman, giving him the same brain damage Goku got.
It's actually more similar to Break Through the Limit. Raditz fails to beat Piccolo when he arrives because Piccolo is now stronger than him, Goku and Tien go to help him since Piccolo is the threat they know of. Afterwards, Vegeta says Raditz is a weakling and that they are going down there to kill everyone, including him.
Oh yeah and Tien dies. So he goes to King Kai and learns the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb instead of Goku.
and thus one of the greatest fanfictions in existence is born.

Fake Name, i was just thinking the same. raditz would gain a zenkai boost and help goku fight nappa and vegeta, thus it would be a two on one fight cause nappa would get destroyed as usual.
There were none until a week after their fight when Goku finally got one from Yajirobe or they would used it to save Tien or Piccolo who were likewise mortally injured (abeit Tien gave up all of his life energy to Tri-Beam his ass).
Your wrong, Goku had one, he gave it to Krillin when he turned up to the fight. In this version of events, Krillin would not have needed it and so Goku would have given it to Raditz as he did for Vegeta on Namek. The ending of this story is all wrong, I suspect Raditz would have survived the Sayian arc and possibly gone to Namek with Goku...or maybe with Gohan and Krillin.

Hearing MasakoX Talk about him I can actually imagine Raditz as somewhat of a trickster in battle. I can picture him fighting sort of like mercenary Tao. The moment his opponent lands a good hit he gets on his knees and pretends to give up. But once his enemy's back is turned... BAM!
Raditz would have helped Goku a lot, he would have joined the Universal Tournament, i'm sure he would start to become good because of Gohan, that's how Piccolo ended up becoming a friend and a ally for a lifetime.

My idea is that the fight between vegeta and goku goes out around the same but with goku being a bit stronger than in the original series, because of that he gain a smaller zenkai boost than vegeta putting vegeta ahead of him, scared by having vegeta in his way to planet namek, he decides he needs to train with his brother to get stronger, since piccolo wasn't taking the hit before, he gets to save yamch from the saibaman so the z warriors train togather while goku teleports to king kai's. he finds that raditz isn't here and has to convince king yemma this is the only way for him to fight vegeta again in planet namek. king kai who knows about frieza also planning on going to planet namek decides it actually might br a good idea. the siblings train togather at king kai's place under the x10 gravity making goku as strong as he was in the original series and raditz around 1.4X the strangth of goku, however unlike vegeta, raditz is not blinded by his pride and would love to learn any technic that might help him, thus learning the kaio ken from goku and king kai. both mastering this technic they get back to earth after a year when raditz is wished back, by that time piccollo and gohan get much stronger that the original series because of their training before with raditz. krillin, like in the original series gets to join them to planet namek. goku and raditz show slightly before the ginue force are called upon. vegeta then notices the new power levels and out of curiousity as to how strong they got, shows up to fight them. first goku fights him, goku fails miserably as vegeta was also training and got the stronger zenkai boost, goku is left unconcious while raditz is raging over his brother's defeat, he easily KILLS vegeta, revenging him for everything. goku is then taken to be treated in the healing chamber while the ginue force are called. piccollo raditz and gohan and krillin fight them easily and frieza shows up. being able to use the kaio ken and being stronger than goku he is able to fight him all they way to his 4th transformation with ease. then kills piccollo instead of krillin, around this stage goku shows up. being raged from piccollo's death, the three sayans get a rage boost. after fighting frieza a bit raditz tells them of the super sayan magicle being, and the three hold their hands and focus their ki and rage to raditz making him transform into a super sayan. in the process goku and gohan faint. raditz is able to mop the floor with frieza easily and planet namek is saved in the process.
Idan Cohen No he needs to do a part two where gpu gives raditz a senzu bean and they fight vegetables together.

Farmer With Shotgun kaizenshuu puts him at 1500 full power 300 points stronger than a normal saibamen.
Welp, here it is, the what if that, in my opinion, truly kickstarted Masako's very own ascent to youtube greatness. While its not the first what-if he did, it is the one that got the most traction, the one that led directly into the Nappa what if, and the one that got people like me invested as subscribers.
As I type this, he's even made one for what if Shenron became human, and is already 6 or so episodes in!! Thats probably one of my favorite concepts on this entire channel! I LOVE what he's made so far, and seeing Bigger Green have his time to shine as a mortal is simply wonderful :)

This is still my favorite Dragon Ball What If, even if he wasn't used much in the actual series, this makes weirdly appreciate the character so much more despise being pure fan fiction.
