8:17 my first major exploration expedition in Elite was to map as much of Xibalba sector as possible. My agony trying to cross that dim gap killed my desire to play for months and months after I finally broke through, but when I resumed, I sped to Xibalba. It was black within black within black. Navigating in supercruise and steering became shockingly difficult as I had zero points of reference in the background. I have never felt so alone and lost. My reward was discovering the sheer number of Earth-like worlds in Xibalba, far greater than Tenebrus and whatever the sector between the Outer Spur and Tenebrus is called. The reality that the return trip just to play other aspects of the game would take months made me abandon for further months. When I returned, I did so with much greater success, as the Spansh galaxy plotter had improved significantly since my first crossing. I began playing Odyssey content, the foot-movement feels sloppy, unresponsive, like it has enormous latency, is buggy as hell, and its engineering is incredibly unfair. But it IS fun, especially with Manticore weapons (Oppressor notwithstanding). I never want to explore ever again.
i just spent a week in colonia, after coming back to the game after a few years. didnt want to deal with the thargoids in the bubble. got bored pretty quick, now i am 1/3rd the way back to the bubble
I found a tiny nebula tonight that features a neutron star against a purple nebula. It's like Tranquility Stop, but entirely purple. The neutron star blends in very well and is a bit scary to supercharge with because of it. Recently, I also found a system with two landable planets where you can have the view of a neutron posing as a pulsar next to another star. You can drive around on either planet and see these two side-by-side in the sky. It's incredible. Two planetary sites I found recently are also pretty incredible. Two ice worlds with rings orbiting each other - and you can land on one. Beautiful. A ringed massive water world - found that tonight. That was beautiful as well. Lastly, there is a dark nebula where almost instantly you go from the galactic core to no stars at all. Whew, that was scary. There is so much undiscovered stuff in this game. Learn the coordinate system and find all the stuff no one knows about. It is worth it. And, yes, you HAVE to go to the galactic center. It may be disappointing to some, but I think it is something that explorers must do. This is the center of our galaxy.
I might consider taking my father out to some of these places. We both play in VR, but I have more ships and experience piloting. ...and I did get a Corvette so...
Sag A* is basically Explorer's Mecca in Elite. Everyone calling themselves an explorer needs to visit at least once. I remember going first time before Horizons came out and top jump range for me was 33LY. Fun times. Now, jump range is double that, lol.
I'm actually logged out right next to the Bubble nebula in my DBX currently. I've gone to Sagittarius A* in my Travelconda. I still hop on occasionally despite my girlfriend calling the game boring, "because all you do is jump from one star to another." Apparently that's all I do when she's watching. I bought my Corvette with money from tourism in my first Anaconda. I bought my python with money made from bounty hunting in my Corvette. I bought 2 Anacondas from the money I made mining in my Python, turning one of those Anacondas into my new mining ship. Now I do my personal sight seeing in either my DBX or Krait Phantom.
I dont know if ill ever dip back into eve. I got about as far as 3k ly outside the bubble, and i remember looking back at the galaxy, and i imagine thats about as close to "the onlooker effect" as ill ever experience. The galaxy looked warm and full of life. I rarely ran into anyone even in the bubble, but it felt like I left the big city, and I was truly alone.
When you guys put your heads together, something good comes out. :D Thank you, that brought some good memories back. Question: Why didn't either of you include the infamous Planet of Death? It certainly is my favorite place in E:D. ^^
@@snarkymoosesshack8793 Spoihaae XE-X d2-9 - It is called "Monde de la Mort", which translates to World of Death, my fault, my French is terrible. It's a landable planet orbiting a white dwarf in an extremely excentric orbit, carrying it once an hour or so into the exclusion zone of the star. You can watch the star zoom by from an SRV on the planet - if you manage the landing without getting toasted by the star's jets. Remember to dismiss your ship, or it will get toasted even on the surface. May also have been a bug in the planet generation, but I think it's easily the most awesome sight in E:D galaxy. Been there thrice.

I have never met a company with such limited imagination or such a vast separation from what it's customers actually want. ED became the classic example of people selling a product nobody asked for. The kind of game where you're expected to literally waste your life for a LONG RANGE mining laser.
I wasted a ton of time to get to the "glory hole" just to have i render in elite fashion or should I say never rendered. Absolutely nothing to see, reloaded several times and still nothing. That was when I realized console was dead and no I cant be bothered on pc.
You can't help all the little digs into almost every comment can you?, I just find it very sad, to be honest, although you are not the only streamer to do this. TIme for you to move on to something else. By the way, something can't be very unique. It's either unique or it's not (as unique means ONE of a kind).

Best played in VR. Nothing can up today beat it! I enjoy it every day with the Pimax 8 KX. It is like beeing there in space...
I feel like Hermes Halo deserved at least an honorable mention, Its a neutron star with its own asteroid belt and is just amazing to fly though
