@@Asc-yc5me Probably just that being famous isn’t at all as it’s cracked up to be. Especially for a kid just trying to live their lives. Sure, that’s as first world problems as you can get, but it doesn’t change the fact that it isn’t easy on some people. And can bring some serious issues into their life. The idea of “celebrity” shouldn’t exist anyways. People pretend to be a character in front of a camera, or write a little song. That’s it. It doesn’t actually go any further than that. But there’s this strange idea of putting people in the entertainment industry on high pedestals for no actual reason. It’s absurd.
Because of Gibby I gained the confidence of removing my tee shirt from my chubby body. He might not know it.....but having the courage of removing his shirt on camera, with million of viewers, gave me the confidence I never had. He unknowingly was a inspiration for all of us guys with a fluffier build, to find it ok to feel confident in our own skin, and for that I thank him!
@@therookie5714 I did and. I've been going to the gym for years now. Gibby gave me the confidence to swim at the community pool without being embarrassed of taking my shirt off. It's extremely hard being a pudgy kid, and sometimes it's no fault of the person, and the unwanted and harmful comments that come with it. It doesn't take "confidence" of being cut, just the willingness and dedication that is needed to get there. It's never easy, and genetics plays a big role, but I keep pushing.
I actually met him and (who I assume was) his girlfriend in Palm Springs. I’m a big fan of sadworld so I just came up to him and said “hey man, just wanna say I love sadworld”. He said “thanks man, no one has ever said that to me before”. Shook his hand, that was about it. Nice guy.

Gibby’s dad was one of my football coaches freshman year of highschool, and he didn’t keep it a secret. As season was ending, he attempted to motivate us by saying “hey if we nail this upcoming (fill in the blank), maybe we all go get dinner with Gibby.” Sure enough season ended, we did well, and coach brought Gibby to get BBQ with our D-Line for the end of season dinner. Gibby was a nice guy but he seemed exasperated at the circumstances, and I felt it was odd that his father treated his sons notoriety and presence at functions as a commodity that could be bargained with. Hope he is doing well.
You do very well finding behind the scenes stories about former child actors/music artists with Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Keep up the good work Patrick!
I saw him once at a mall near me. My friends and I were walking around and suddenly there's this crowd. Apparently he was there for a signing or something. We stick around cause why not. The crowd started chanting "Gibby! Gibby!" and the announcer asked the crowd if they wanted to use Gibby or Noah and the crowd unanimously shouted Gibby. We left after that but my friend commented how sad it was that the people chose Gibby. He walked by me, with security between us, still the closest I've ever gotten to a famous person.
I can’t imagine how tough it is, being known more for a character more than your actual self, and on top of that being expected to “be” that character and do the things that character would do in public, I hope Noah’s doing alright, he’s more than just gibby.
Glad he’s doing well for himself, kinda disgusted that people would tell him to strip and dance in public. If I ever meet him, I just gotta thank for making my childhood
Thank you, Patrick, for sincerely and effortlessly rising in status to become my favorite TH-camr by FAR. It's ridiculously well formatted, straight forward, and easy to digest.
It’s really sad that actors/actresses end up in these situations where people treat them as if they are actually a character they play and don’t have their own things going on
4:51 "Dan was begging Noah to show him his feet" That had me cracking up lol Jokes aside, it's nice to see that Noah is doing great and chose to go his own way to pursue what makes him happy
Penguinz0 podcast had Noah Munck in one episode and the interviewers did ask him if Schnieder asked for his feet pics. He didn't directly say it as he danced around his answer but it's clear what he was trying to indicate
Thank youuuu for making a video on this. My dad does radio and got the opportunity to interview Gibby a few years ago. He discussed the whole nickelodeon controversies that happened over the years he was there, and how he was doing now that he was finished with acting. It genuinely was amazing to listen to, and I was 100% fanboying behind the little window listening to him speak. But he deserves more exposure to his music for sure, he nothing short of an artist.
I'm glad to know that he's staying active with both similar and different outlets. This usually doesn't happen with someone who finds early success in that industry.
That's pretty unfortunate. I've always liked his character, and if I saw him walking down the street, I'd probably say hi and give him props for all the crazy things he did in the show. Kinda sucks that he deals with that in a negative light and people treated him that way. Hope he's actually doing well.
I wouldn’t necessarily call his life sad, as long as he enjoys what he’s doing now. It seems like he’s gonna be just fine, he’ll grow with his niche community and eventually rebrand himself as what he wants. Just gotta believe in him, and as long as he focuses on who he’s becoming he’ll be alright. I have hope he’ll definitely be doing great things with his career.
Finally, giving this man the credit he deserves. I've been following his content for a long while, and his comedy skits and amazing beat tapes are highly underrated. Thank you for the coverage 🙌🙏
Gibby was a cute and fun charterer on the show and the wild unpredictable personality made it gold to watch, but I can imagine that being a child actor is never easy and can twist you a lot depending on the role.. Noah sounds like a good guy, its so sad that people don't understand that the actor is a human being and not that one charterer they loved or hated..
I always love to hear of celebrities who either stay humble, or just stop and go "Eh, it was just for fun". It shows they don't let it go to their head, and still are the same, or maybe even a better person because of it. Even though I can't predict these things, I like to imagine I would do it like that too... Just... Not letting it go to my head... The best to you, Noah!
Being the "butt of the joke" always seems to open the door for people to feel emboldened to make fun of youbor abuse you. Even as a kid i worried about what gibbys life was like outside of TV, because i knew it was difficult to be the odd one out or the chubby kid, and he was famous, for being that kid who got picked on. I even knew kids who just legitimately hated his character and thought he was annoying and i could never understand why.
I saw Noah a few times while working at the movie theaters. He be with his grandfather and brother. Such a nice family. I never noticed people asking him to take off his shirt. Dang that sucks :/ sadworld is deep af
Kids' TV really looks like a one-way ticket to hell... but I'm glad he managed to get out unscathed - I imagine having a supportive and non-exploitative family behind did help a lot.
I started watching you ages ago when I was into the underground sadboy/Lofi scene, I loved watching ur vlogs with Convolk etc. Ngl when ur content changed I was hesitant at first but ur killing it man keep up the great content!
When I watched icarly I did enjoy the character development for Gibby. He went from being a punching bag to a punching bag that punches back. He became a reliable friend to the crew.
I think the only way they could bring gibby back would to have the character go through what Noah Munck has gone through in real life with gibby explaining why he's not so much like gibby anymore because the fame of iCarly was getting the reactions that the real life Noah was getting I think that would be interesting
Im happy that all in all he seems to be having a good life of sorts, He doesnt seem bitter or angry about his time on the show. He honestly seems rather wholesome
All honesty I’m sure we can all say Gibby was one of the best parts of the entire show. It’s sad to know he got so much hate at the time cause for me and I’m sure plenty of others he was one of the best characters
Damn some of these topics I would never care to look into on my own - but the way you tell the stories makes them interesting in a way that they probably otherwise wouldn't be. I hope you take that as a compliment!
Idk to say these topics aren’t inherently interesting is pretty ignorant. If you knew where to find some of these stories I’m sure you would watch. I already knew about Gibbys channel it’s weird I actually just found it about 1 week before this video
@@jumpy2xstreaming sorry but it’s my opinion. Pretty sure I’ve made that clear. For you to call it ignorant must mean you don’t understand what an opinion is. Just because _I_ don’t care what chubby children who used to expose themselves on tv are up to nowadays doesn’t mean that kids who expose themselves isn’t interesting to you. To each their own fool.
It should be noted that Noah Munck, the actor who played Gibby on Icarly, was also on The Goldbergs as Naked Rob, who is one of Barry's dimwitted friends.
Haven’t finished the video yet but I think he developed quite well despite being a kid actor. His new art is way more meaningful and intricate, without being cliché.
I like Noah. Always have. I'm so glad he turned something negative into something positive. That's what growing into a better person is all about. Can't wait to see more of his art, and what joy he can bring to the world. Great video dude. Noah would approve. ❤🤝
I found the Sad World channel about 4 or so years ago and fell in love with the weird comedy. It was so different from literally everything else out on the internet and it’s stayed one of my favorite channels to check uploads from since then.
Glad he can move on and grow from what he used to be and embrace what he had. Sucks the same can't be said for the people that watched him when they were young. It's hard for them to tell the difference between tv and reality.
i get blown away with how well your productions are. your writing and delivery is the best dude. i have become quite a fan of your work! well done, yet again!!
Man, Gibby was my favorite character. As a chubby kid myself, seeing his character's confidence gave me confidence. I couldn't have been the only one!?! But I think we all have somethings in our past that follow us, im glad the actor was able to rise above it all and be more that just Gibby grown up. I would never want to be a celebrity, always in the publics eye. Im quite content being relatively insignificant to others!
Considering the trauma that most of these Nickelodeon and Disney child actors are coming forward with, Noah, in my opinion, dodged multiple bullets. Even as a teenager I got a little concerned of how Noah was being suddenly used and discarded by the show so quickly episode by episode. I rather Noah establish himself away from the iCarly machine so his identity, talents, and interests are able to shine without the idiocy of Dan Schnieder.
Man, that show! Did any of the main characters not end up worse for doing it? Always loved the Gibby character, and the fact that he wasn't suppose to become a regular thing. I think that speaks highly of Noah's acting ability. Seems like he's recovered (recovering?) from the show. That's great. And hope he's able to do whatever makes him happy. I'm glad he didn't do the reboot. All the behind the scenes crap, they should have just let it die.
he did what a lot of his peers should’ve done and that was refusing to allow the role blur with reality. josh peck, drake bell, and victoria justice are all examples of this and that’s why their hollywood success never measured up to their nickelodeon success because we didn’t see THEM, we saw josh nichols, drake parker, and tori vega. at least noah rebranded and has amazing things going for him!!
I highly disagree with your comment! Drake Bell ended up being in prison. However, Josh Peck became a TH-camr and Victoria continued acting with incredible roles.
I’m so glad for Gibby that he was able to continue his passion after iCarly. It’s really wholesome to see that, throughout his struggles, he sort of made something for himself after using the kidcom as a jumping point. Good job for him
Haven’t finished the video yet, but I really appreciate the reminder around the 3:00 point to stay hydrated. I forget and I hadn’t drank any water yet today. Thanks man!
0:14 Even though I knew it was widely acclaimed and it was by far my favorite of Nick’s live action shows, I genuinely wouldn’t have guessed that it would have been more popular than Drake and Josh.
I’m really glad he’s happy, I really am! It’s rare for a Hollywood actor to leave without any scars, I’m surprised how much sure he was with dealing all the comments over his years as Gibby. However, I still think Gibby is a funny character, and I go back to him every once in a while.
it sounds like Noah is experiencing the same thing Josh Peck did where he just wants to move on from being the punching bag character but people just won't let him forget it because it's what he's most known for
Hey Patrick, As much as I love your content I hope you’re finding time for yourself. Can’t imagine how time consuming it is to make all of these videos so I hope you’re mental is okay! Much love from Melbourne Australia my dude.
i love that his parents never forced him to continue acting when they knew about what people were saying. i loved gibby he was my favorite on the show :))
Ur channel is great because it is exposing the mindsets behind all this stuff going on. It’s showing the thought processes taken and the context of the situation outside of bias and complete in structure. Ur a gifted content creator. Thank you for your services. You deserve every dime that comes to you for this work you do.
If I ever met Noah in real life, I’d shake his hand and say “hey man thanks for making my childhood special, I’m not gonna ask you to do anything other than a quick picture. Thank you.”
I'm glad he decided not to return to the iCarly reboot, for his own good. It sucks that trolls left such a negative stigma on his character as Gibby. "Why does he look like that?" Clearly, people have not learned about age and something called growing up lmao. To this day, Gibby vs. Nora is still one of the most hype scenes to air on Nickelodeon.
Great vid and totally understand his dilemma with being Gibby. All the crap he has to deal with in the real world isn’t worth it and I don’t blame him one bit. Everyone was cool and normal on the show except him.
The reason Gibby was shirtless was Dan Schnieder was the producer. So that kind of explains that. These channels need to start vetting better to protect these kids from being exposed to monsters and do a better job of getting children involved in things outside their shows. Like Zack and Cody.

Damn that story reminds me of the scenes from "Better Call Saul" when he's in hiding and someone noticed that he was the famous lawyer Saul Goodman.

I only recently started watching The Goldbergs, but when I saw him, I was like “That’s the guy who played Gibby!” It was nice to see him grow up and play a different character. I respect Noah Munck for making his decision of not returning back to portray his role as Gibby on the Icarly revival because not celebrities don’t want to play their old characters on a reboot series due criticism appearances or any type of miserable childhood they went through and same for Jeannette McCurdy who Sam on the show that doesn’t want return to the show as well, such a sad story but I’m glad he’s doing own thing for once

It's good to hear he is doing well for himself and managed to stray away from his iconic role while also respecting it.
