@@stuartchester6899 Ash’s channel if different to Abbies it’s not meant to be like her channel, Ash does his own thing as do other channels. I'm new to the channel, loving this series - I've seen other videos of this walk (by the chap who shouts at dead animals, nice homage btw) and it looks brutal. I wish I was fit enough to have a go myself but I'd need a year to train, so thanks for taking me along via your camera.
Hi Jon! Welcome to my channel, and glad your enjoying these videos, I loved the trip so much (my feet didn’t) 😅 Are you referring to haze!?? 😅 MEDIC ?? Have a great Christmas mate Ash
Loving your adventure mate. I was gutted you went wrong near Keld as was hoping you would walk through Muker and Gunnerside where I holiday. They also both have a pub!!. Fair play for continuing on with your feet. Without meaning to sound critical I was genuinely surprised when I saw your footwear for the Journey but glad you managed to sort some boots!!
Thanks mate, yeah I’m a stubborn git, if someone tells me I can’t do something then I try my best to prove them wrong… I failed on this occasion 😂 Thanks for watching mate Ash
Lol, you're having a bit of a toughy Ash. Did the couple find you on here BTW? 7:30 that's looks a rough section mate. 😬 Can't believe how lucky you got pitching in the garden and getting fed and watered, but no shame in using campsites either, it's more about completing the trail. Fook Insta. 🤣
Hey mate! Yeah, he fond me and has commented, and yes, was really lucky with the garden, I was ready to pitch up on the park bench 😆 Thanks again for watching mate Ash
You looked like a broken man in the first half of the video, but after that rest you seemed like a new man 💪🏻 great video mate, looking forward to the next one👍🏻
@@stuartchester6899 he's doing the walk for a children's charity so yes he's pushed on perhaps when the rest of us would have had a break hence my "machine" comment. As a novice hillwalker myself I understand exactly what you mean about weight and climb am also unfortunate enough to suffer with cartilage issues in my knees so I know when to stop. You obviously know what you're talking about when it comes to walking , perhaps you can upload on your channel a " how to" type video? I would love to see your take on how to do it? Maybe you can do it like ash did for a charity? I would gladly support your efforts.
Awesome ash ! Bet the river was nice on the swollen feet ! Hats off to you for keeping going ! Cows horrible little fuckers ! Had a few bad experiences myself lol 😂
Good evening sir with the cows you jumped a fence did you have to get back into the field or did you find another way to escape these beasts. Thank you sir for answering my question another very enjoyable segment of the coast to coast video series.
@@AshOutdoorsUK they seem like a great family. Think it’s on the 5th series now, their kids characters have grown and they are the stars of the show really 😊
Aye, I did the Kirkby Stephen to Keld section last September, and I got some funny looks wearing trail runners so God knows what people were looking at you like in your shoes. Nowt'd help stopping water getting in on that bit after nine standards. I was up to my knees a couple of times.
Mate, those shoes were the biggest regret of that trip! The mullered my feet, and yes, a fair few funny looks and comments! Lol Such an awesome trail though! Thanks for watching, Andy Ash 🏕
Thanks mate, I’ll look into them for the future. Was pleased to get some proper boots for the last half of the trip Thanks for watching and commenting Ash
Dude! Wise decision to stop to recover. Was thinking of getting some of the vibrams but don’t think I will now. Do you think you’d have had the same issues setting off with boots from the start? In any case, great vids so far and well done. I’ll sort you out some sponsorship when I get paid. 🥾🥾
Mate, I love the vibrams, but for multi day hikes, the distance and terrain in consideration they were a bad choice! If I’d have had the boots from the start I doubt I’d have had the same issue. I just wanted to prove a point that I could use them to walk across the country in… I failed 😂 I still love them for day hikes and my runs! Thanks for watching mate Ash
Ash I've just been watching 'wild camping in heavy rain & wind' Can't help but notice your wearing very thin toe showing shoes..are they really that comfy you can walk all that way in them? I've looked at them a few times but thought they were for bouldering or wall climbing 🤔 Good on you btw for continuing xxx
Hi danni… I love them, they’re so comfortable but definitely not for long distance hikes over multiple days! Would be great for bouldering and rock climbing, yeah 👍🏼 Thanks for watching Ash
Hi Ash, from an ex-squaddie, well done for pushing through the pain barrier. I too intend to do this hike, although I will be doing it with my year old Siberian Husky. Do you have any advice regarding taking my dog mate?
Hello mate, thanks, did actually feel like giving up at one point lol Ah that would be cool with your dog, I’d just say take it easy with the dog and allow enough time, you’ll love it though, such a great walk Ash
Don't know why people who do this, feel the need to do 20 plus miles per day. Little bit of advice: take a chill pill, relax, take time to smell the flowers, enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed, drink a few more beers.
Hi madcat, firstly I have children and need to work to pay my bills so time wasn’t on my side, don’t get me wrong I’d have loved to take a leisurely two weeks to complete it and smell every flower I pass. Secondly I’m very much into my health and fitness and like to challenge myself so 20 mile days are a good workout for me. My choice of footwear was my downfall on this trip. Next time I’ll prepare a little better but would still do it at the same pace, that’s the way I like to hike.
That was tough Ash, I don't know how you got those swollen feet into new boots, did you buy 2 sizes bigger? I think when I attempt this I'll start off at more steady pace to get used to it for first few days.
@@stuartchester6899 I look forward to watching your video of the Coast to Coast or similar walk as it sounds like you could really help us amateurs with your tips and experience 👍😄

Awesome content and achievement, you should be so proud of yourself mate doing this walk, brilliant mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍⛺️🏕👍❤️
@@stuartchester6899 Ash’s channel if different to Abbies it’s not meant to be like her channel, Ash does his own thing as do other channels. You watch and follow Ash because you like his content and style of content not because he should be like some one else. He’s out there giving it a go, getting on with it and doing a difficult, long hike which is probably a lot more than you do, it’s always easy to criticise than do !
Thanks for the comment mate, much appreciated
And sorry about the troll, he’s been all over this video like a rash so is now blocked.
Thanks for watching and your support buddy
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK welcome mate, no need to apologise for some dickhead. Great videos off this hike mate, enjoying watching you go through hell but also chuffed when you battle through and stuff, changing footwear was a definite improvement the look on your face afterwards 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻🏕⛺️😀
Well done mate… cracking on with feet like that.. fair play 👏🏽
Bloody hate walking through cow fields 😬 🐮
Took a couple of notes again 📝 👍🏽
Take it steady bud🤙🏾
Thanks buddy! Yeah the cows scare me now 😂 thanks for watching again mate
Ash
@@stuartchester6899 yeah cheers for that🐮😘🐮… love Woodsman x
Loving this series mate. Great effort so far. Good couple of days rest seems to of got your mental spirits up. So good on you bud.
Looking forward to the next one

Thanks adam! Definitely needed the R&R
Thanks for watching mate

I take my hat off to ya mate👍
Cheers buddy
Scones. Not Scoans! 😁
That looked a dicey old path just after the 7 minute mark (Gunnerside), Ash 😮
Hat off to Lawrence and Hilda 🤩
Robbing baskets at the hotel 🚔
I know you have done it, but I’m still talking to the screen egging you on 😂
Lol, thanks Tim! Was a wicked adventure
Thanks as always buddy!
Well done man.
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Fastest cake in the world.... S...gone (pronounced skon Oop north 🤣🤣) I recently did crackpot hall, and plan to return to Gunnerside Gill very soon pal 👍 could definitely tell your batteries were running low, I definitely plan on getting a trekking pole tent, probably the Lanshan 2, but I reckon they are not best used in all conditions, the msr will definitely serve you better. One day I may be up to a challenge of this calibre, might be a while though, just done Helvellyn and literally can't move off the sofa #middleagesucks 🤣 keep up the awesome work buddy, atb Paul 🙏🏕️🏕️🏕️😁
Hey Paul mate! See your photos on Facebook, looked amazing!
Yeah, I’m never taking a trekking pole tent up high again lol, msr all the way for mountains.
Skons from ooop north 😂 love it… I’m still one the fence with this one
Have a good day mate, and thanks for watching
Ash
Glad your feet are on the mend.
Thanks mate,
The feet look battered mate, good effort keeping going. Would have been tempted to jump ship. Looked refreshed after the rest, cheers, Si
Hi mate, yeah I was close… rest day came at the perfect time lol.
Hope you’re good buddy
Ash
I'm new to the channel, loving this series - I've seen other videos of this walk (by the chap who shouts at dead animals, nice homage btw) and it looks brutal. I wish I was fit enough to have a go myself but I'd need a year to train, so thanks for taking me along via your camera.
Hi Jon! Welcome to my channel, and glad your enjoying these videos, I loved the trip so much (my feet didn’t) 😅
Are you referring to haze!?? 😅 MEDIC ??
Have a great Christmas mate
Ash
Loving your adventure mate. I was gutted you went wrong near Keld as was hoping you would walk through Muker and Gunnerside where I holiday. They also both have a pub!!. Fair play for continuing on with your feet. Without meaning to sound critical I was genuinely surprised when I saw your footwear for the Journey but glad you managed to sort some boots!!
Thanks mate, yeah I’m a stubborn git, if someone tells me I can’t do something then I try my best to prove them wrong… I failed on this occasion 😂
Thanks for watching mate
Ash
Lol, you're having a bit of a toughy Ash. Did the couple find you on here BTW? 7:30 that's looks a rough section mate. 😬 Can't believe how lucky you got pitching in the garden and getting fed and watered, but no shame in using campsites either, it's more about completing the trail. Fook Insta. 🤣
Hey mate! Yeah, he fond me and has commented, and yes, was really lucky with the garden, I was ready to pitch up on the park bench 😆
Thanks again for watching mate
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK nice one mate. 😁
You looked like a broken man in the first half of the video, but after that rest you seemed like a new man 💪🏻 great video mate, looking forward to the next one👍🏻
Thanks George, yeah I really was broken! Lol, goes to show how important footwear is
Thanks as always buddy
Ash
Beast 💪
Lol wounded beast 😂
Amazing mate, what a machine!
Lol, thanks Rob! Loved it, my sort of thing… stubborn gut that I am 😂
@@stuartchester6899 having watched the entire video I understood it he took the high route to avoid the boggy wet muddy low routes.
@stuart Webb where did u go chap , for a experienced hill walk 😂
@@WildCamper I blocked him mate, was being a twat in the comments 🙄 bloody know it all 😅
Awesome ash ! Bet the river was nice on the swollen feet ! Hats off to you for keeping going ! Cows horrible little fuckers ! Had a few bad experiences myself lol 😂
Yeah… was so nice dipping my feet! And the cows!! They scare me 🤣

If you was a horse Ash they would put you down 🤣 well done kid for pushing through been a great set of vids so far 👌 atb daz
😂 thanks Daz! Yeah I actually think you’re right lol (glad I’m not a horse) 😆
We say 'Sconn' here in Oz for the scone baked goods....but 🙃...the place name of Scone here is pronounced 'Scoan' 🤔😆, that's Aussie for ya...!
Lol, I’m still undecided on which one it is lol!
Hope you’re well Kaz?
Ash
Another great one Ash, perfect uploading time as well.
And its definitely pronounced scones, scones just sounds wrong 😉
Yes! Scones for me too mate! Lol
Thanks for watching Paul, hope you’re keeping well
Good evening sir with the cows you jumped a fence did you have to get back into the field or did you find another way to escape these beasts. Thank you sir for answering my question another very enjoyable segment of the coast to coast video series.
Hi Tom! No, I had to walk round the field lol
Thanks again for watching mate
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK thank you sir for answering my question
Great video again 😊 Your poor feet though!! Was it Ravenseat Farm from Our Yorkshire Farm? It’s actually one of the only programs I enjoy!
Yes!!! That’s the one! I need to find the program and watch it 👍🏼
@@AshOutdoorsUK they seem like a great family.
Lol
Such an awesome trail though!
Thanks for watching, Andy
Ash 🏕
Wow you gave your self hobbit feet they looked pain full cool vid
Lol, they weren’t really painful, just fat 😂
Forgive my spelling
I thought you'd forgotten part 3 😁👍
Ohhhh no… here it is 😅
Jesus pal. Them feet have took a hammering. Well done for soldering on. Be worth it I'm the end.
Thanks ant! Yes, glad I didn’t give up!

Ash
Mega again. Really inspiring. Can I ask what you use to keep charge in everything?
Thanks mate… it’s just a 20000 MA charger pack from Amazon, cheap and cheerful but lasted well, charged that up at the two pubs I stayed at 🤙🏼
You need a pair of altra lone peak 4.5 for you feet I’ve never looked back
Thanks mate, I’ll look into them for the future. Was pleased to get some proper boots for the last half of the trip
Thanks for watching and commenting
Ash
Had a pint in the Black Bull on Monday, the sign is still upside down.
Lol, didn’t even notice 😂
I just wanted to prove a point that I could use them to walk across the country in… I failed 😂
I still love them for day hikes and my runs!
Thanks for watching mate
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK I’ve been looking at the vivobarefoot. Perhaps they’re somewhere in between. Look forward to the next videos.
I used vivos on a 50 mile hike a couple of years back… got really bad blisters 😂 I’d say try a few good hikes out in them before a really long one 😬
Ash I've just been watching 'wild camping in heavy rain & wind'
Can't help but notice your wearing very thin toe showing shoes..are they really that comfy you can walk all that way in them? I've looked at them a few times but thought they were for bouldering or wall climbing 🤔
Good on you btw for continuing xxx
Hi danni… I love them, they’re so comfortable but definitely not for long distance hikes over multiple days!
Would be great for bouldering and rock climbing, yeah 👍🏼
Thanks for watching
Ash
Hi Ash, from an ex-squaddie, well done for pushing through the pain barrier. I too intend to do this hike, although I will be doing it with my year old Siberian Husky. Do you have any advice regarding taking my dog mate?
Hello mate, thanks, did actually feel like giving up at one point lol
Ah that would be cool with your dog, I’d just say take it easy with the dog and allow enough time, you’ll love it though, such a great walk
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK Fair do's mate.
Hi Ash. Do you think you did too much mileage early on and this caused the swelling?
Just wondering as I’m hoping to C2C in September…
Good vids 🖖
Hello mate, no, was solely down to the footwear. Not enough support for the terrain. Flew once I had proper boots 👍🏼
Good luck when you do it mate
@@AshOutdoorsUK 🖖
That was tough Ash, I don't know how you got those swollen feet into new boots, did you buy 2 sizes bigger? I think when I attempt this I'll start off at more steady pace to get used to it for first few days.
@@stuartchester6899 I look forward to watching your video of the Coast to Coast or similar walk as it sounds like you could really help us amateurs with your tips and experience 👍😄
