I use a Motocraft filter for my 2.3. the 2.3 takes the cartridge type filter. I usually use Valvoline 5W30 high mileage. Once I hit 200,000 miles I'm going to 10W40 and I'm going to use full synthetic. Probably Valvoline or Mobil 1 extended performance. I've heard a lot of good things about it.
@@bricegraham8256 30$CAD at Walmart for 5L on sale seems like a decent price. The Extended Performance High Mileage can be found for 38$ on sale at Canadian Tire.
@@cnimi Thanks for the information. They're at similar prices in America. However I don't know the prices gap between USD and CAD. I switched to Extended performance kinda early though cause last time I was at Walmart that's all they had on hand. It's funny cause I work for a parts store but even with my discount buying from Walmart is so much cheaper then buying from the parts store with my discount. The amount I'd spend at Walmart on my oil and my aunts is close the how much I'd be spending on my oil alone at the parts store
one more question, it says on the oil cap that it uses 5w-20 but some people use 5w-30 is there a difference in the two? I have a 2.3l what would you recommend?
I’m wanting to get the Avid.1 AV 32 18x8.5 35mm with the Nitto Neo Gen 225/40 18 but I’m wondering is there any running of the wheel or tire when turning
Your 240,000 km is almost exactly 150,000 miles, which is roughly middle aged for a reliable Japanese car. I read up on cleaning the MAF, and apparently there's more than one thing to clean on it, which I didn't know the last time I cleaned one years ago. I don't remember exactly the places to clean, but whatever I did, the gas mileage went up somewhat - maybe 2 mpg. Then I had someone replace the PCV valve, because it probably had never been done after 70,000 miles (I bought it at about 65,000 miles.) BEWARE - it's a very difficult job, and costs hundreds of dollars if you have someone do it. You need to remove the intake manifold to access the PCV valve. Absurd, but there you are. I don't know which Mazda 3 engines have a problem replacement of the PCV valve. Mine is the 2.3L engine.
@@ColtonRichter How much stuff are we talking about? Should I have had it all replaced when they had pulled out the intake manifold? Is that what car engineering is about - figure out a way for a system that's been in cars for about 60 years to stop being reliable? I would have thought that instead they could have integrated it more with the rest of the computerized exhaust pollution reduction system, reducing the number of gadgets in inaccessible places.

I've heard good about Valvoline as well, thought i'd give Mobil 1 a try!
@@ColtonRichter You chose well. Yeah the only reason why I don't get Mobil 1 is because of the price. Other then that it's good.

Thanks man!
Got my Mazda 3 since new in August 08. 300 000km and not 1 drop of oil used
You've never changed the oil? 😂

I've also used 5w-20, if you're burning oil then 5w-30 might be better for you.
In all honesty pleas show how to take the plug out 😭I’m stripping the plug slowly like why is it so tight🤦🏼♀️
do i just go to any mazda dealership and ask for an oil filter for my car? and is it necessary to put oil in the new filter? 3:55
Yes & yes.
dawg where are you from? i want someone to have the same vision as me for my mazda
bro oil filter will automatically fill in when we will just switch on the car not the engine ( means without starting the engine and not making self )
It is optional!

@@ColtonRichter ok thanks I see you knew what I was talking about I misspelled rubbing
Mazda Canada states that the oil changes are to be done every 16k kilometres for a Mazda 3. My Mazda dealership says every 8k. What's up with that?
I would recommend asking the dealership, a lot of manufacturers are going with longer intervals
@@ColtonRichter I told the service person what I had read online but he said every 8k due to our fluctuating temperatures.
Trust me, you probably don't want 16k intervals anyway for longevity lol
@@ColtonRichter Yes, I agree. Will go with every 8k. Thanks.
Hey man quick question where did you get your rocker panels? Any where I can get em at a good price
Bought them from a part out
Colton, no air filter change or clean? Not even cabin air filter?
No sir! Not necessary to replace them every 5k, but doesn't hurt to take a look if you have the time!
@@ColtonRichter ohh i see... ;)
You are forgetting about the trans fluid. It is NOT lifetime like Mazda says.
5W30? I thought the mazda 3 manual called for 0W20
The newer ones do, 1st gen & 2nd gen take 5W30
@ColtonRichter manual says 5w20, so does the oil cap in the engine cover. Is 5w30 gonna do any difference?
Any chances I could purchase a black gx e-brake button from you?
I don't have any extra, sorry
motul 300v 0w-20 the best oil
Liqui Moly and Motul for mine in the last 7 years.
Motul is a good one as well!
My oil 10w40 in libya
What you think about
The manual says 5W30 for Mexico but Libya is hotter. Check at a Mazda dealership there ?
Shell Helix Ultra is Good too
where did u get those fog lights
