I have a friend who's done this! I moved away so don't see her much, but every time she brings her boyfriend! So annoying, as even though I'm fond of him, there are things I want to talk about with her that I don't feel comfortable talking about in front of him.
This video was hilarious (I thought i was the only one who found it weird that straights said “we’re pregnant”) but in defense of the “partner” thing: I know a few straight people who say partner because they want to normalize not having to tell strangers your sexuality so if everyone started saying “partner” it wouldn’t be a dead giveaway that someone is in a same-sex relationship (if that makes any sense). Loved the video!
To me “partner” also works if a couple has been together for a significant amount of time but are not married. Gf/bf may seem to casual for a longer term relationship
As a bi woman I choose to refer to my bf as my partner because I don’t like people to automatically assume I’m straight and it makes me feel more in control over peoples imposed gender stereotypes in our relationship before they even know us
Great point!! I say partner because in my opinion, at my big age, I don't have a BOYfriend😂🤣. He's either my man or partner. Boyfriend is a tad juvenile at an adult age for me.
That’s true and I had the same opinion but Baby showers (when done in a non obnoxious way) can actually be really useful- we threw one for my sister who had twins and it helped a lot cause she had to buy sooo much stuff for them. so it was a nice way to support them and be excited with them! But all in a non gendered way of course.
American babies don’t get baby boxes with supplies inside when they are born, so a shower is to help the parents of a firstborn get needed items from friends and family. Also no family leave in the USA.
@Lauretta Eck I think gender reveal is a gettogether where you tell firends/family about the babies gender and shower is later on where you get gifts (ie babies clothes, toys, maybe a carseat or stroller...)
the whole "partner" thing depends on the country though. in the UK it's more common to call your significant other your partner. my american friend pointed that out to me once because when she started working in london she thought at first that everyone was queer (which wasn't the case unfortunately). :D

It also suggests sexuality is something you can choose - which is highly problematic, and I know they say it as a joke, but it's an overplayed one and it does irk me.

I'm straight, and had to watch when this popped up in my recommendations - the title got me. The same things that confuse you, confuse me - the "girlfriends" term, the "partner" term - you Cant be sure what it means. Also, I think gender reveal parties are stupid, and "we" are pregnant is icky. I've been to a bachelorette party at a gay bar, and I agree, it was a little strange, but we did have fun and we didn't take over the place. All this said, Im sure I still do plenty (unintentionally) that would make you roll your eyes. Thanks for the fun video!
This is really interesting, in a lot of ways, especially from a Swedish point of view. Though gender equality still can be much improved here, many of the things you point out, simply don't exist here. And...if they do, we adopted them from North America (US mostly). For instance, we linguistically have separate words for female friends and a girlfriend. The confusion, therfore, never occurs. I don't know anybody who has had a "gender revealing party" or a bachelorette party at a gay bar, decorated with dicks. However, what I have heard is the 'if I were a lesbian it would be much easier". You are great, so are your videos!
Similar here in the uk, I don't know anyone who would call their female friends their girlfriends. & the gender reveal parties aren't a common thing here either, although I think a few people are starting to catch on to this American tradition. The dicks at bachelorette parties are defo a thing here though (called a hen night here)
Allura Jane that's so true my friend got mad at me cause she made a post that said " all girls have one guy that they'll never get over " and I said (as a lesbian) well not all girls she also claims that at one point I was straight and it's like no honey I was just closeted 🤦♀️

How does she know?!" because I realized, nope that's just that thing straight people do
Gay man here. 100% agreeance! You could have been much tougher. Also I tell people that the real gender reveal celebration should happen when their child tells the parents. Try that for a change.
The Girlfriend and friend thing is even harder in German tho. You just have the word Freundin and it's the same for a friend and a girlfriend. Good topics! About "partner", though, i feel like that word has always been used as a gender neutral word to describe the other person in a couple, especially when you don't know or want to reveal the gender of the "first" (and/or second) referenced person. "A person and their partner". In my country, it is typically used in that way in official texts. "Man" and "wife" is actually not used in neither legislative texts or other official texts. Michael Andersson yeah I use it because I’m pansexual with a strong preference for women but I’m dating a man and don’t want people assuming I’m straight or being shocked when they find out I’m not
Hahaha reminds me of the subreddit "Are the straights OK?"... they're not. Still some of my best friends are straight! I have nothing against them!! 😂 If we acted like they do.
Loved it! If you're having a hard time thinking of topics, honestly, just do whatever you want - I'm here for it. Which books you love, where you love going out to eat or dance, your thoughts on the new Fiona Apple album, the construct of time... s'all good.
I certainly won't be endorsing my friend's request to go to a lesbian bar on her hen (as we call it here in the UK! :)) night. Especially not wielding fake penis swords!! 😁 good point though about encroaching on safe space. It is a valid point.
About the "both being pregnant at the same time": there's a Belgian basketballplayer Ann Wauters who actually did that with her wife. Ann gave birth 1 month after her wife did. Apparently it was a very positive experience for them.
Great video! I know we’re taking this with a pinch of salt but for people who are actually confused by it I want to say something about the “we’re pregnant” thing. Yeah it might sound weird but the idea is that both of them are going through this and it’s to show that the guy is also equally invested and excited and wanting the baby. It’s usually couples who actively tried to get pregnant and I actually like when straight guys show they do want to have a baby and are there every step of the way with their significant other. We in the lgbtq community should know to let others celebrate their happiness the way they want (as long as they’re not hurting anyone) and I think by saying “we’re pregnant” they’re just both equally happy to go through the journey together, I think it’s really sweet 😊 also straight couples saying “partner” is a lot of the times because there actually is a stigma if you’re not married and are for example over 30/40 and some people feel more comfortable saying parter to show significance of the relationship and respect for the other rather than “girlfriend/boyfriend”. and in some countries you can actually legally get a partnership status OR get married regardless of gender so some people are actually legally partners. 😊💕 thanks for great content guys!
you two brought up some great points that i've thought about too. also, i coudn't help but notice that masego's tadow was gently playing and i love his music
I watched this the other day and I woke up today angry at you. You cannot claim the word partner. No. Business partners. Cops are paired in partners. I used the word partner as a woman living with a man who was 20 years older than me but we were not married, husband wasn't right, and boyfriend seemed derogatory, what other word would you use in that situation? And you're American? Americans went and changed the English language way back in the great depression, Americans don't get to tell me how to use the English language. Us Australians only added our own slang, we didn't change the language, we still speak English. You don't get to tell me I can't use the word partner for a straight relationship.
Me: Pansexual and has a girlfriend and hasn’t came out to parents or school friends My friends: jessie why don’t you date someone My mind: I am but I can’t tell you because you’re gonna get mad at me and you will tell my parents and I’m gonna get in trouble Me: *hides that I’m Pansexual* UwU
Or when they find out your gay and staight friends profess their straightness and they would never feel like that and you don't know how to tell them you are not attracted to them. Thanks you both are great!
In defense of the term partner, I felt kind of stupid calling my ex my boyfriend, given I was over 35 (and feel icky when older people call them boyfriend/girlfriend in a non satire way).
We don't have any gender-reveal parties in Poland, where I live, but I remember when I was pregnant and people congratulated me on having a boy, as if having a boy was better than having a girl or something. It felt super weird.
Gay bars aren't just safe spaces for gay people - they're safe spaces full stop. I've toured with theatre companies all my life, mostly in musicals, (and usually some of the company are gay) but the cast's preference is always for a gay bar or club as a mid--week outing. It's quieter and defiantly safer than the straight clubs and bars. Gay cast members run the risk of aggression in a straight bar, a thing I'd say is unknown in gay bars. In the UK at any rate. The people in gay bars tend to be warm and welcoming in my experience, and I've never felt that I was unwelcome there either. Maybe just my luck. PS, yes, a fun list...
In the Netherlands we call a female friend a ‘vriendin’ and a male friend a ‘vriend’. This sometimes gets confusing because when I say I’m going to hang out with a friend and it’s a woman, I have to really empathize I’m going to see ‘A vriendin’. Otherwise people will think she is ‘MY vriendin’ (my girlfriend). So when I say I’m going to see my ‘vriend’ this means boyfriend and not just a friend. Looot of confusing hahah
Firstly, Sorry for the rant! I'm straight but all these gay videos are popping up on my homepage-I think its because I've looked at so many Killing Eve compilations about Eve & Villanelle anyhoo, yap, I agree with most of these. Yes, I'm straight but straight women and couples drive me nuts!!!!!!!!
to the first point.. when a friend is called a girlfriend, it’s not just confusing when it’s from a straight girl.. one bi did this on an ig story and i was sooo confused because we were kind of hitting on each other like an evening before 😂
4:53 to 5:00 i never in my life did any thing like that. but before my son was born i always knew he was gonna be a boy. my ex didn't care either because had a daughter years ago but she's not mine. p.s. my ex's family is like that (blue, boy. pink, girl) i known my family is not like that
OMG the PARTNER thang!!! That's the one that's at the top of the list for me 🙈🙈 Greats and I must say ORIGINAL content 👍👍🏳️🌈. Welcome to Canada, just be always vigilant...💖
You gals have great acting chops you had me laughing out loud ! I loved this video you made such great points !!! True perspective I never even realized. , who knew ???
An example of girls who are straight but act gay as a joke: cheerleader from my school posted a pic of her and her best friend dressed up to go to homecoming, and kissing. The caption was "going to homecoming with my girlfriend, :ring emoji:" yes this post actually exists, no she is not gay.
Couldn't agree more with the "real sex" vs "fooling around" notion a lot of straight people have. I'm straight myself and I've never had penetrative sex yet, but I also just don't like referring to myself as a "virgin". It automatically gives people (especially straight people) the feeling that I must be super prude or something lol
You guys are awesome. Fabulously funny with great chemistry. You've certainly given us straighties some food for thought. The partner word really grates with me too. People with business partners often feel they have to qualify the type of partner. Looking forward to watching more of your vids!
I know a couple who were silently annoyed they couldn't buy his and his cups and other items. It was all done in good fun though. When they wed they got his and his items as gifts! Most of those type of gifts are often bought for people. It is another avenue for making money by the manufacturers. Alot of what is highlighted in this clip makes me smile. Perhaps because I'm abit older. All these observations are ok but it really doesn't matter. .
Lol, may be a hot take but for people who are bilingual English/Spanish, saying "pareja" is pretty normal and neutral way in Spain which avoids having to define the relationship (girlfriend, fiancé, wife, fbuddy etc.). And among married people, the popular word for wife ("mi mujer") is a bit jarring for an English speakers (literally translates to "my woman"). There is an alternative that is common in Mexico ("mi esposa") which is understood widely but to be honest a lot of young people just say "pareja" -especially if it's a long term relationship (e.g. live-in relationship). ... So translating that to english as "my partner" is pretty natural. ...especially when referring to *someone else's* significant other when you don't know the situation (or don't care) and just need a direct/indirect object in a sentence. E.g. when you're telling a story about having a long week and your partner surprises you with a romantic weekend getaway ... stopping to clarify gender seems a bit irrelevant. I'm pretty sure the feeling of "damn, how sweet" is genderless haha
Another one from Germany: Lebensabschnittspartner Lebensabschnitf = phase of life - partner. I really saw someone using this! Though most people don't! ...We ... found out it's dumb...
The straight woman response to finding out I am gay... I have totally had the response you talked about here (the buttoning up the shirt, etc lol) but more often I have seen a different response - they suddenly put on totally sexed up body language and start flirting with me. Now, most of these women would never actually be in a relationship with a woman *but* they do want to feel like women are attracted to them.
I found this video very funny. I'm straight and most of the things you mentioned I dont do. But I do find it weird when some speak like that or do some of the things you mentioned
omg we should have gender reveal parties but for bisexuals when we start dating a new person
😂
LMAO.
hahah that's amazing
I love this 😁
omg that's such a great idea lmao
Another thing straight women do: Automatically include her boyfriend in plans I made with just her. No, I DO NOT wanna hang out with your boyfriend.
I have a friend who's done this! I moved away so don't see her much, but every time she brings her boyfriend! So annoying, as even though I'm fond of him, there are things I want to talk about with her that I don't feel comfortable talking about in front of him.
@@Hazeydaze92 yeah. It's just polite to ask if she can include her bf and it should be perfectly acceptable for you to say no.
That doesn't have anything to do with straight people. Gays do it too. If you don't use common sense this is what you do. Gay or not
ahhh this is so true it’s soo annoying 🥴🥴
I hate that presumption that we all want to spend time with the boyfriend...um, NO!
GAY BARS ARE NOT A ZOO...say it louder for the straights in the back lol
But...but...but...they are looking so happy and thankful every time i stop by to pet and feed them... :(
Yes!! Especially feel it when they come for a spectacle on Halloween and completely takeover the gay village just pointing and taking pictures

haha at the end , I thought you guys were actually telling us you were pregnant 😹
LMAO when you start buttoning u your shirt HAHAHHAHA @9:40
Gender reveal party: exists
intersex baby: am I a joke to you
Haha!! Thanks for the great laugh! The bloopers were the best part. 😂😂
Alexis looks like a female versión of Shawn Mendes
Loved it! If you're having a hard time thinking of topics, honestly, just do whatever you want - I'm here for it. Which books you love, where you love going out to eat or dance, your thoughts on the new Fiona Apple album, the construct of time... s'all good.
Haha you’re sweet, thank you!
Fun, light-hearted video in these dark, difficult times! 😊 more of the same please! 😁
We’re glad you enjoyed it! 😊 Thank you
Especially liked the bit about straight women crashing and annexing lesbian bars for bachelorette parties! What is that all about!! 😆
I certainly won't be endorsing my friend's request to go to a lesbian bar on her hen (as we call it here in the UK! :)) night. Especially not wielding fake penis swords!! 😁 good point though about encroaching on safe space. It is a valid point.
wow that's one of the best videos I've seen, super spot on, thanks girls!
They could just say expecting instead of pregnant, that works for both/all partners.
And I like how we initials of Ana Luisa match your initials.
I am as straight as it gets, but I love watching you gals... Can’t help but chuckle with recognition from time to time .... :-p
About the "both being pregnant at the same time": there's a Belgian basketballplayer Ann Wauters who actually did that with her wife. Ann gave birth 1 month after her wife did. Apparently it was a very positive experience for them.
Y'all are so goofy lolllling over the outtakes at the end ♥️
Yay, welcome! 😊
Nzingha Primus p
"So, Shelly." why was that so funnyyy to me lmao
I watched this the other day and I woke up today angry at you. You cannot claim the word partner. No. Business partners. Cops are paired in partners. I used the word partner as a woman living with a man who was 20 years older than me but we were not married, husband wasn't right, and boyfriend seemed derogatory, what other word would you use in that situation?
And you're American? Americans went and changed the English language way back in the great depression, Americans don't get to tell me how to use the English language. Us Australians only added our own slang, we didn't change the language, we still speak English. You don't get to tell me I can't use the word partner for a straight relationship.
🤣❤ Thanks for making us laugh! Awesome video and the bloopers: haha so good
This is so accurate 😂👏. Thank you for putting a smile on my face! Xxx
Ahahahaha the 'we didnt have sex' xD
Me: Pansexual and has a girlfriend and hasn’t came out to parents or school friends
My friends: jessie why don’t you date someone
My mind: I am but I can’t tell you because you’re gonna get mad at me and you will tell my parents and I’m gonna get in trouble
Me: *hides that I’m Pansexual* UwU
Or when they find out your gay and staight friends profess their straightness and they would never feel like that and you don't know how to tell them you are not attracted to them. Thanks you both are great!
I'm with Alexis, I wanna Scottish Fold too 😂
6:45 I was literally just thinking how nice it would be until you brought me to my senses lol XD
In defense of the term partner, I felt kind of stupid calling my ex my boyfriend, given I was over 35 (and feel icky when older people call them boyfriend/girlfriend in a non satire way).
And I hate the dick thing in a bachelorette party, she's going to see the same one for years, not swear off them!
We don't have any gender-reveal parties in Poland, where I live, but I remember when I was pregnant and people congratulated me on having a boy, as if having a boy was better than having a girl or something. It felt super weird.
Alexis your hair looks so cute! Lillian I really admire you for shaving your head it looks good!
Just found your channel yesterday and really enjoying it.
“I guess I’m a virgin then” was the same thing that came to my mind, like if I didn’t had sex at all
👏👏👏👏👍👍😁😁 you ladies are so right I agree with you 💯🌻🌻🌻🌻 good job ladies
Funny. My ex wife came out late life 7 years ago So I find this hilarious
It’s all in good fun! Thanks
I completely agree straight ladies and saying girlfriend or partner it confusing so true.
to the first point.. when a friend is called a girlfriend, it’s not just confusing when it’s from a straight girl.. one bi did this on an ig story and i was sooo confused because we were kind of hitting on each other like an evening before 😂
4:53 to 5:00 i never in my life did any thing like that. but before my son was born i always knew he was gonna be a boy. my ex didn't care either because had a daughter years ago but she's not mine.
p.s. my ex's family is like that (blue, boy. pink, girl) i known my family is not like that
The girl on the left looks just like shawn mendes
She could totally pass as his sister! Both Canadians too!
OMG the PARTNER thang!!! That's the one that's at the top of the list for me 🙈🙈
Greats and I must say ORIGINAL content 👍👍🏳️🌈. Welcome to Canada, just be always vigilant...💖
You gals have great acting chops you had me laughing out loud ! I loved this video you made such great points !!! True perspective I never even realized. , who knew ???
In New Zealand, straight people use partner a lot, it signifies that the relationship is serious/long term and often implies that they live together
An example of girls who are straight but act gay as a joke: cheerleader from my school posted a pic of her and her best friend dressed up to go to homecoming, and kissing. The caption was "going to homecoming with my girlfriend, :ring emoji:" yes this post actually exists, no she is not gay.
4:06 Alexis sounds exactly like my Broseph and I when we go to Lady Gaga concerts!! 😃
😂
Couldn't agree more with the "real sex" vs "fooling around" notion a lot of straight people have. I'm straight myself and I've never had penetrative sex yet, but I also just don't like referring to myself as a "virgin". It automatically gives people (especially straight people) the feeling that I must be super prude or something lol
You guys are awesome. Fabulously funny with great chemistry. You've certainly given us straighties some food for thought. The partner word really grates with me too. People with business partners often feel they have to qualify the type of partner. Looking forward to watching more of your vids!
hi, would u guys mind doing a “date ideas” video?:))
sure, we’ll see if we can come up with some good ideas :)
Alexis and Lilian thank u!!❤️
I know a couple who were silently annoyed they couldn't buy his and his cups and other items. It was all done in good fun though. When they wed they got his and his items as gifts! Most of those type of gifts are often bought for people. It is another avenue for making money by the manufacturers. Alot of what is highlighted in this clip makes me smile. Perhaps because I'm abit older. All these observations are ok but it really doesn't matter. .
Lol. “we are pregnant”... Yes I have to say I have heard this lately from people and gee it’s confusing... and wired
When couples call their mate "partner" it sounds like you might be running a law firm or something lol
I think bachelorette parties in general are kind of weird
Lilian looks like lolly from OITNB😅🤣!
The partner thing drives me up the wazzoo! OMG 🤦🏾♀️
Loving the channel as always, the outtakes are always funny
Oh my goodness! I’m a butch lesbian called Lilian too. :)
Another one from Germany: Lebensabschnittspartner Lebensabschnitf = phase of life - partner. I really saw someone using this! Though most people don't! ...We ... found out it's dumb...
You guys are sooo cute...
So glad I found this channel.
The straight woman response to finding out I am gay... I have totally had the response you talked about here (the buttoning up the shirt, etc lol) but more often I have seen a different response - they suddenly put on totally sexed up body language and start flirting with me. Now, most of these women would never actually be in a relationship with a woman *but* they do want to feel like women are attracted to them.
omg that's actually awful
I really love that silk blouse at 3.50. x
I found this video very funny. I'm straight and most of the things you mentioned I dont do. But I do find it weird when some speak like that or do some of the things you mentioned
