  • Here's yet another Tool Tuesday with another one of my favorite tools. Works great, pulls CV axles through hubs that are tight tolerance.

Your scenario in the beginning described me to a tee

This is the tool I used on my X5 when I replaced the rear wheel bearings.

I run a rebuilding facility for differentials, transmissions and I also run our drive shaft department and something I've been doing for years now is using red bearing grease (anti seize works also) on all splines, everything goes together much easier and will help prevent seizing should it ever need to come back apart. Another tip is to always lube threads on pusher/puller tools, they will last so much longer. Great video though!

Great demonstration and review, Tyler! Bashing the hub with a rubber mallet or a block of wood and 3lb sledge just does not work, like most American or Japanese vehicles and one will likely damage the CV Axle and/or trying to do so. This tool is worth every penny, whether someone is attempting to reinstall their first E9X CV Axle or the 100th.👍

This is a great tool. Bav Auto is sorely missed! Still can't believe they are gone, after all these years.
Another great detail about this tool is that it has a threaded end to accept a slide hammer. It can be used to seat tapered axles like what you find on F chassis, and some Porsches, and VW/Audi.

I love this tool! But yes, it is unfortunate about Bav Auto.

Not a problem! Not something you need everyday, but when you do need it.. it's like striking gold. Lol

Damn, I would have needed this when I replaced the CV axles on my E90. Ruined the wheel bearings on both sides while hammering in the axles.. next time I know there's a tool for it

I’m afraid I did the same thing; ruined the wheel bearings when tapping in the cv axle through the hub with a hammer (softened by a piece of wood)
