Sorry to say that indias highest tax collected from direct selling companies.
Also Govt of India is making Direct selling as one subject in MBA. Kerala govt itself has approved Direct selling and network marketing. So by certainity i can say many countries are interested in supporting the direct selling. Kindly do read the gazette on direct selling.
I understand that many fraudulent mony chain policy companies looted but SEBI has made strict actions against them.
This is not to make contaradictionary subject on your posting. But make sure that some companies do market in a proper way.

Some direct marketing are not fraud, but even though its not worthy for profit for all. U can buy products as much u like. But profit will be different matter..
Yes, even in direct marketing, ur spending will be more than what u gain in business... Like he said only few upgrade to next level & gain..
It's purely based on luck, u just have to meet random people & talk.
U spend on meetings, & products. Products will be costly, (but they say quality that's why) but as a customer if costly it's OK ur choice to buy. But as a business man, U expect returns, instead u buy costly products, thinking u will earn some day.. (There are other cheap healthy alternative products in market)
Unless u have some rich people to buy ur products, one won't gain money..
Generally its waste of time, money, energy & relationships..
It's just luck, no one knows who will gain money, who will join to boost their income..

Thanks for your view. As a business man profit and loss will differ according to the skill they have and it is true even in thevtraditional marketing. All shop owners or business man will not have same level of profit or loss. It is based on many parameters.
And do not blame govt as it always tries for the betterment of the citizens. Moreover people have their own right to choose. Neverthless if someone believe in themselves rather than luck he or she will win any industry or business or field they choose.
Just work till you succeed rather pointing at some hurdles or greedy ones who like to earn on others hard work.
If the product is too costly how is it still marketed or if its quality is not good consumer action can be taken.
