  • Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Oroville, CA plays host to the Gold Rush Car Show, where we mine automotive gold like a '54 Chevy, a strong '69 Cuda, Forward Control Jeep, an Olds 442, and a. Already close to gold, this custom tangerine "54 Chevy exemplifies a well done custom. All the standard shaved and cleaned choices, but also retaining a lot of what's good about the original. A very clean, mild custom with eye catching color contrasting with the white inside and out. The Barracuda clearly isn't stock either, modified in the way these old muscle car bodies beg to be. Not classy. Powerful. This streetable, full race build is not a "sleeper". It runs in the 10s and is an interesting combo of street and strip. About as unique as any custom you'll ever see, this "Forward Control" Jeep is the craziest STOCK thing you're gonna see all day. Sitting above the wheels, this is sort of their version of a Cab Over. Part of the oddness is just how tall it is, and for some Jeeps that's saying something. Minimalist interior and exterior, it's all business. Kind of a power wagon feel with a funky cab. Ready to do work, not that you're gonna with something this rare and nice. The 442 has an interesting color choice, but it too is factory, as rare a combo as it may be. The interior too, period, and nicely restored to "Code G" Willow Gold. So cool. Like showroom all around. Back to the tasteful customs, we round it out with a '62 Impala 409. They never came in this color combo! Red-Line Red and a Dupont Alabaster, trimmed with green. You could tell someone you were choosing these colors and you wouldn't give it a though, but it really works in practice. This also was the first year for the fake "convertible roof", and you can really make out the pseudo ribs in the top. Stock in pattern, the interior has been updated in leather and carries through the color scheme throughout. Even the speedometer! Stock font, updated color. Engine turned metalwork flowing all over, even the 409 engine magnificently carries the theme. Absolutely stunning to see when truly everything has been touched on the car to make every inch a work of art.

Wow... Wow... wow... every episode you pick the coolest cars I've never seen!!
Except this one I hate that I love this 442 because that drunk lady without insurance in a red Olds 442 totalled my 70 SS Green/Green Monte Carlo

Well, guess I overdosed on your show's.
Thank God for easy access to tons of the past. At first thought; " I should get back into my shop and bring forth those ole creative juices that disappeared decades ago.
Now, I changed my mind without a gram of grease or a turn of the wrench.
    THANKS A MILLION!

7:34 Hard to believe that this FC-170 is a rarity to Dennis as many shows as he has been to. They were quite common as service vehicles in their time and many were rigged with large toolboxes and tow hooks. I got to drive one in the late seventies off road and it was nice to navigate rough terrain being able to look straight down in front of your wheels.

Thought this was going to be one of those eps having me fall asleep on boring 50s coupés sporting awful paintjobs as usual, but then came that crazy Barracuda. What a great car!
Not a so called "show stopper" like those Dennis calls so many times, but a REAL show stopper! Everyone should go home in awe and work on their worthyness due to this piece of style.

Great SS there, but got it 6 feet under by a lethal choice on the rims.
What is wrong with you people? Get over that Foose guy and stick with proven timeless style!

Well, I'm the only host this show has ever had in its 24 year existence so that probably isn't going to change. I'm probably not going to get any better either so just enjoy the cars.
