I'm still not totally sure about me saying all this though, let me know if you find anything.

McAfee actually seems to use less memory more consistently than the normal windows antimalware by having it installed it disables the default antimalware so I chose to keep it. So if you want some security just keep it.
silicon lottery, some people may get a average and meh cpu (me), some get a really good cpu that can probably push 0.0130v without any problems. then theres some that unfortunately got a bad cpu, so not too much room for undervolting. It is just how it is, CPU manufacturing is a complicated process and lots of things go right/wrong. If its possible you might wanna return the laptop and get a new one.

hm yeah but turn off real-time protection if I were you, since you're trying to really maximize the performance. real-time protection that runs in the background all the time hinders any cpu no matter how powerful it is.
Good points for the Omen Intel users, unfortunately we (Ryzen) users dont have the Undervolting in the OMEN Hub. The only thing id recommend against is running a windows based system with no AV. its very easy with the advancements in Masquerading/spoofed websites and emails to click on something and get injected. Used Something, and to be honest, just turning down the scan frequency to outside your gaming hours will not impact your system. Defender isnt the greatest, yes it sucks some resources, but with an i7 or Ryzen 7 or greater, that impact is so minimal. Highly suggest anyone NOT to turn off and be naked without a decent AV program. and Firewall OFF? Negative right there ghost rider. Just opened the doors to the kingdom. Great video btw! Would be better if you showed the temps when undervolting the CPU instead of showing FPS gain. I would imagine most people looking to undervolt their laptops CPU are doing so for thermal reasons and throttling while gaming
This overclocks easily +200mhz memory and +200mhz gpu, disable optimus and plug into external monitor! 4k gaming 60 fps anomaly peeps! you are missing a couple of other setings which slow down this beast of a rig! disable gpu scaling in geforce let your monitor do that +20% fps doing that
So my take on this chronologically is: -GPU overclocks through MSI afterburner are rather obsolete, as you know modern GPUs overclock themselves when the cooling allows so manual overclocking isnt necessary anymore. -In my case (Intel) you can disable optimus and use a MUX switch so an external monitor is optional and wont add more fps, tho unless you're using AMD yes, you get more performance by using an external monitor. -GPU Scaling on default is already set on Display, not GPU so that doesn't need any tweaking If you have those other settings i missed feel free to reply
I've got an HP Victus 15 (fa1279tx to be exact) RTX 4050 with i5 13th gen. Its got the latest hardware and it still dont have Graphics Switcher in Omen Gaming Hub. If possible please reply.
I find discreet to he the best . I like lower temperatures and less fan noise. My games work just fine. Gaming on battery sucks a bit so i play plugged in. A gaming laptop with a 3070 video card does not need tweaking.
Bro, do you know how to activate the advanced bios options? I opened the notebook to clean it and a ram that I had bought that is also 3200mhz now marks both as 2400mhz and from what I saw it is due to the xmp configuration but I have the bios version f.22 and I still cannot enter the Advanced Options

it runs out rather quickly even for something like that, even on all battery and gpu power saver settings. probably less than 3 hours, really this laptop ain't gonna do you well unless you have the charger, and anyways this is for the intel version I'm sure ryzen ones have much better battery life even tho they have less performance

Every time I open Omen Gaming Hub it says "The required HP services are not running and may result in a loss of functionality. To resolve this, please download and install an update package." Hey man, I got a 2021 Omen 15 with the RTX 3070 and I7 10750. Warzone used to run between 110-120 fps on max with RT on. Now even on very low settings my fps goes up to 80-100 max, and keeps fluctuating. I tried undervolting, tried throttle stop and everything else but nothing seems to work. Your expertise would be appreciated
dang that's a massive difference, check your power settings, graphics switcher (discrete or hybrid), or even might be the Nvidia driver issue (might wanna roll back to an older graphics driver)

i7 10750h, and rtx 3070. from all I know, unfortunately the AMD version doesn't have a mux switch to switch to fully independent discrete graphics mode. so lots of performance lost on the table. it's a bit stupid but it's true

I use custom color calibration profile with discrete graphics but everytime i turn my laptop on and login, the screen flicker a for like a milisecond. If i use the same color profile with hybrid, the screen doesn't flicker. Any suggestions as to what it can be?
first things first try to update all your graphics drivers (both intel hd and nvidia gpu) then second thing id try is reverting that color profile to the default setting
@@P0ck3tz I Updated both the graphics AND reverted the color calibration to the device default. It shows a yellow hue on the screen (Because of which i color calibrated)

Do I completely turn off HP omens under volt currently it’s set as intelligent I’m not sure if they conflict or if I should just leave it as is before using throttle stop. Thank you for your help beforehand. I haven’t had a laptop for gaming in 10 years or so - not sure how typical these CPU temps are with your other settings for performance
@@RjSchopp indeed if you want to use throttlestop i suggest turning off the undervolt feature in omen gaming hub edit : dont use the intelligent feature, it doesnt undervolt too much, i recommend do manual tuning through trial and error to find out the maximum potential
@@P0ck3tz my temps are very good, it's just gpu usage and fps keeps dropping and rising causing lag spikes makes games unplayable I've done all the optimisation settings

choose one or the other since it might interfere with eachother, personally I'd just use throttlestop since it has much more options and are more flexible in general

@@the87ghosts uh huh don't copy all the settings, every pc has different limits on undervolting, so if my pc's limit is -120mv yours might cap out at -100mv, you just gotta experiment yourself and see what's stable. not all cpus and pcs are built the same

you should really haha, it won't brick your laptop or anything, or if you wanna play safe just set it to -80mv since most omen 15s limit is around -100 to -120mv

right click taskbar and there should be an option right there and then to hide cortana button, go to "search" tab and you can also choose whether you want search icon, cortana box, or smth else

How hot does the intel cpu version get on the 2020 omen? I have a 2020 hp omen now with ryzen 7 an hottest I’ve seen the cpu get is 79C my 2019 hp omen with i7 9th gen gets up to 95C I’m impressed how much cooler the ryzen 7 temps are
mine at its hottest 80c during heavy gaming (-120mv undervolt) , while rendering and using 100% of it I think it could reach up to 90c.yeah Intel versions aren't very thermally efficient
@@kamryn7496 yeah indeed its much much better, just in general the build quality is just better, 2019 omen is more plasticy because its trying to reach the cheaper end of the market. while the 2020/2021 omen 15 is still on the cheap end but overall just much better build quality and value for money, all that explains why the 2019 omen thermal capability is kinda bad. Though this bad boy hefty af its like 4 kilos kinda a hassle when i bring it around campus

@@P0ck3tz yo, I found out that it's an issue when I full screen games. The game goes black and freezes when in fullscreen, but doesn't on other screen modes. It didn't do this before. Do you have any ideas?
I think you mightve enabled cleartype, around the end of the display calibration there's an option for cleartype (it changes the font), you wanna uncheck that before you click finish

for the omen setup utility i reckon its the omen gaming hub right? then its in the video. but for the bios settings you better keep it at default, laptop bios's dont have much to tweak anyway unlike pc's so its better not to tinker with it. to answer your last question nope you need to restart your laptop to switch graphics, because you're practically like switching graphics card. windows can't do its job properly without a restart

Temp folders: Windows\Temp %temp% Windows\Prefetch Windows\Recent Btw you can type all those in how they are in the File Explorer address bar but personally I use a .bat file on my desktop using explorer command to open them all at once.
Lol, I must say, besides the undervolting, most of the stuff here really makes little to no difference, this isn't the days of windows XP where 2GB RAM, 512MB VRAM and a dual core processor was considered plenty, on today's modern machine with specs especially like yours, you're really not gaining anything noticeable from turning off this and that, best you can do is keep bloatware in check, keep your thermals in check by means of undervolting and such, that's pretty much it

I find discreet to he the best . I like lower temperatures and less fan noise. My games work just fine. Gaming on battery sucks a bit so i play plugged in. A gaming laptop with a 3070 video card does not need tweaking.

it runs out rather quickly even for something like that, even on all battery and gpu power saver settings. probably less than 3 hours, really this laptop ain't gonna do you well unless you have the charger, and anyways this is for the intel version I'm sure ryzen ones have much better battery life even tho they have less performance
Idk what happened but now after I did that CPU cores 12 thing, I have an and 6 core 12 thread cpu which stats at 100% usage day and night and I cannot even upgrade to windows 11 it says I need more then 2 cores which I do have , THEN WHY... pls help, edit I tried to do it again and for some reason my number of processors is showing just 1, why. Please urgent help
that's pretty odd but I suggest unchecking all the boxes and reverting all those settings back to factory then

Every time I open Omen Gaming Hub it says "The required HP services are not running and may result in a loss of functionality. To resolve this, please download and install an update package." But when I try to install it, it never installs fully but just simply stops installing at the percentage of 60% please help me I have been struggling with this issue for a while now
hm yeah that did happen to me too the first time I bought the laptop, try downloading the omen gaming hub straight from HP's site or from Microsoft store if I remember correctly, that way you can immediately have the latest version

Hey man, I got a 2021 Omen 15 with the RTX 3070 and I7 10750. Warzone used to run between 110-120 fps on max with RT on. Now even on very low settings my fps goes up to 80-100 max, and keeps fluctuating. I tried undervolting, tried throttle stop and everything else but nothing seems to work. Your expertise would be appreciated
dang that's a massive difference, check your power settings, graphics switcher (discrete or hybrid), or even might be the Nvidia driver issue (might wanna roll back to an older graphics driver)
@@P0ck3tz yea bro I got my power plan on ultimate performance, graphics on discrete and everything is updated. Not sure which version to roll back to. Another weird thing is on my Undervolt tab, my max CPU frequency is at 3.56Ghz at the same -0.135v undervolt. I have the same i7 10750h. Please help

i7 10750h, and rtx 3070. from all I know, unfortunately the AMD version doesn't have a mux switch to switch to fully independent discrete graphics mode. so lots of performance lost on the table. it's a bit stupid but it's true

you gotta manually open it every startup, unless if you have set it to open the throttlestop itself at startup

unfortunately not, but ryzen processors automatically lower the voltage and stuff (they are very efficient in doing it)

you may have deleted the wrong thing, temp is supposed to be temporary files not your main drive where you store games

nope a mux switch/switchable graphics is unfortunately a physical chip and cannot work unless the chip is actually soldered on the motherboard

How come I don’t have the hub power settings? I have an omen 15
I use custom color calibration profile with discrete graphics but everytime i turn my laptop on and login, the screen flicker a for like a milisecond. If i use the same color profile with hybrid, the screen doesn't flicker. Any suggestions as to what it can be?
first things first try to update all your graphics drivers (both intel hd and nvidia gpu) then second thing id try is reverting that color profile to the default setting
@@P0ck3tz I Updated both the graphics AND reverted the color calibration to the device default. It shows a yellow hue on the screen (Because of which i color calibrated)
@@leonraza2400 hm yeah but does the problem of flickering still occur? if it doesnt then the problem is the color calibration, either you wanna try calibrating the display through windows or you wanna calibrate it through nvidia control panel and intel hd control panel

@@P0ck3tz I’m going to attempt using throttle stop. My CPU seems to hover around 85-high 90s when gaming. Do I completely turn off HP omens under volt currently it’s set as intelligent I’m not sure if they conflict or if I should just leave it as is before using throttle stop. Thank you for your help beforehand. I haven’t had a laptop for gaming in 10 years or so - not sure how typical these CPU temps are with your other settings for performance
@@RjSchopp indeed if you want to use throttlestop i suggest turning off the undervolt feature in omen gaming hub
edit : dont use the intelligent feature, it doesnt undervolt too much, i recommend do manual tuning through trial and error to find out the maximum potential

choose one or the other since it might interfere with eachother, personally I'd just use throttlestop since it has much more options and are more flexible in general

@@the87ghosts uh huh don't copy all the settings, every pc has different limits on undervolting, so if my pc's limit is -120mv yours might cap out at -100mv, you just gotta experiment yourself and see what's stable. not all cpus and pcs are built the same

How hot does the intel cpu version get on the 2020 omen? I have a 2020 hp omen now with ryzen 7 an hottest I’ve seen the cpu get is 79C my 2019 hp omen with i7 9th gen gets up to 95C I’m impressed how much cooler the ryzen 7 temps are
mine at its hottest 80c during heavy gaming (-120mv undervolt) , while rendering and using 100% of it I think it could reach up to 90c.yeah Intel versions aren't very thermally efficient

@@kamryn7496 yeah indeed its much much better, just in general the build quality is just better, 2019 omen is more plasticy because its trying to reach the cheaper end of the market. while the 2020/2021 omen 15 is still on the cheap end but overall just much better build quality and value for money, all that explains why the 2019 omen thermal capability is kinda bad. Though this bad boy hefty af its like 4 kilos kinda a hassle when i bring it around campus
@@P0ck3tz I just got battlefield 2042 an my hp omen with 1660ti Ryzen 7 kinda struggles to get close to 60fps on high settings I've heard the game is still pretty bad on laptops with better specs
@@kamryn7496 yeah lol i reckon your problem is the lack of a mux switch, idk HP's stupid idea to not have MUX switch on the ryzen variant while the intel one does. I honestly didnt know this at the time of purchase it just came to a surprise even for me. I guess because the omen 15 is on the cheaper end they dont supply it with a mux switch (weird because intel does)

I think you mightve enabled cleartype, around the end of the display calibration there's an option for cleartype (it changes the font), you wanna uncheck that before you click finish

for the omen setup utility i reckon its the omen gaming hub right? then its in the video. but for the bios settings you better keep it at default, laptop bios's dont have much to tweak anyway unlike pc's so its better not to tinker with it. to answer your last question nope you need to restart your laptop to switch graphics, because you're practically like switching graphics card. windows can't do its job properly without a restart

would not recommend for a laptop, plus if you're on Intel it boosts pretty highly anyway. undervolting is the wiser choice in this case

Lol, I must say, besides the undervolting, most of the stuff here really makes little to no difference, this isn't the days of windows XP where 2GB RAM, 512MB VRAM and a dual core processor was considered plenty, on today's modern machine with specs especially like yours, you're really not gaining anything noticeable from turning off this and that, best you can do is keep bloatware in check, keep your thermals in check by means of undervolting and such, that's pretty much it
