You got to admire the dedication of Jr. Troopa. He somehow found a way to travel through space and found his way through Bowser's castle just so he could battle Mario. And all because Mario entered his turf that one time.
@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 I don’t get the outrage. Though that’s probably because I never really cared for the Koopa Bros that much (mostly because I didn’t pay much attention to the info about their backstory). Also, Chugga’s wish that Jr. Troopa disappears after being last seen frozen in ice, basically implying he died, is pretty weird.
It’s funny how he talks about Koopa Bros foreshadowing, completely forgetting that all of that is completely optional. Meaning that you could legitimately be like who? when you see them again. Honestly, I like it more that we don’t fight them.
The Star Spirits must of left the gate open to Star Way. Then Jr. Troopa showed up, stole The Legendary Star Ship to make his way there. I mean, the Star Spirits were robbed once, so clearly it could happen again. OR since Jr. Troopa has wings, and it's been shown Paper Beings don't need air in space, Jr. Troopa probably used his form that has wings and flew to Bowser's Castle.
Jr. Troopa interupting a dramatic rematch with the Koopa Bros. is so perfectly in character for this little twerp that always showed up when you least expected it that I have to love it. He's also the penultimate enemy in the game, not counting the multiple fights with Bowser that follow, making him the perfect bookend considering he was the second enemy we ever fought. It really brings the entire story full circle. It also puts into perspective just how far we have come. The Prologue and Chapter 1 feel like an entirely different game at this point, so much that it can feel strange to go back to those early areas. But as we end the story where it all began, it's important to reflect on the journey so far. It's been a good run, but all good things must end. So let's end this. Bowser, here we come!
When Emile brought up that his original Paper Mario let's play hit it's 14 year anniversary, it gave a full reality check on how long I've been watching this man release let's plays because I remember him releasing the original series and needing to wait for each episode. Seeing him where he is now makes me so happy with how far he's made it and gives me an appreciation of how much he has done for the let's play community. I can't wait for the final episode of the series tomorrow even if it is gonna be a bitter sweet thing once again.
@@chuggaGiven recent announcements might TTYD be in consideration for a replay? I would hope they didn't just give it a graphical update so there might be new content, but Metroid Prime did it so maybe not.
Honestly, I DO love the fake out of the Koopa Bros., and I totally get that it can go either way on "funniest joke in the game" or "worst bait and switch". For me, Goombario's tattle makes it! What was once a mean old bully living around his hometown turns from "we gotta beat this guy!" to "wow kinda amazing he went to these lengths to beat us" all the way to Goombario literally being _excited to see him AND OPENING WITH "MY MAN!"_ It's a really good character thing that I don't see a lot! Jr. Troopa himself is almost entirely a throwaway character for me, with little more than "oh yeah he's a running joke in the game", but Goombario's reactions _absolutely_ make it.
Well tomorrow is the last episode of this let’s play, thank you for this wonderful journey we’ve gone through! Even if it is over, I’ll be glad I was able to join the journey.
Goombario's Log Day 66: Today's the day. We're finally here. The end is in our future. We've reached the end of Bowser's Castle now. All that remain, is the final bout with Bowser. This is it we've go....... *in the room with the final Bowser Head* Koopa Bros: Alright Mario, time to end this fight once and for all! Goombario: You think we're going to let you win so easily? Kooper: We beat you once. Bombette: And we'll beat you again. Koopa Bros: Go ahead. Nothing, and I mean nothing can stop us now! AHahahaaaa...... *then, Jr. Troopa comes in and knocks the Koopa Bros. away* Parakarry: OH COME ON MAN!!! Bow: GIVE IT A REST DUDE!!! Watt: GET OUT OF OUR SIGHTS!!! Sushie: CRAWL BACK INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN FROM WHENCE YOU CAME!!! LESTER: GO TOUCH GRASS YOU MORON!!! Jr. Troopa: Never! I won't stop until I've defeated Mario once and for all. And now, I've come up with a brand new move you'll never defeat! *pulls out his wand* Behold! *puts up a magic shield around him* Try and hit me now punks! Goombario: I normally don't believe in homicide, but, kill this son of a broozer guys. Rest: No objections here. Attack! *everyone attacks Jr. Troopa, but their attacks just bounce off* All: What!? Jr. Troopa: Ha ha! You fools! I am invincible! Kooper: Wait, Mario! Use the Star Spi... Mario? Mario: *casually steps out of the room signaling to them, 'You're on your own' before closing the door* Bow: Great. Just great. Watt: What do we do now? Bombette: *thinking* I got it. Kooper! You and I are going to use our Fire Bomb move on Jr., but this time I'm going to use Mega Bomb for higher explosion damage. Kooper: What!? You've seen just how powerful our attack was with just Power Bomb. Goombario: Using Mega Bomb in conjunction could create an explosion nearly 10x the size! Bombette: We have to try. Kooper, are you with me? Kooper: ... *nods* To the very end. Go! *Bombette rushes to Jr. and begins charging up for Mega Bomb* Jr. Troopa: Ha! You think you can blow up my shield? You're not strong enough to do that. Bombette: You're right. But not on my own. Kooper! Now! *Kooper uses Fire Shell and rams into Bombette. One second, quiet. The next, a massive rumble is felt all throughout the castle inside and above. Windows shatter, bricks crumble, guards are left in shock* Koopatrol: What's happening!? Hammer Bro: Is it an earthquake! Goomba: But that's impossible! We're in the sky! *suddenly, the shaking stops. Inside the castle, all is quiet. Goombario, Karry, Bow, Watt, Sushie, and Lester: *groaning in pain after bracing for impact* Sushie: Everyone ok? Watt: I, think so. Karry: *hacking in pain* Bow: I'm dead and I still felt that pain. But wait, where's Kooper and Bombette? *the five look around and see the two against a wall and rush over* Lester: Kooper! Watt: Bombette! *Kooper and Bombette gain consciousness* Bombette: D-did we do it? Karry: Well, considering there's now a Jr. Troopa sized hole in the wall over there, I'd say you got him. Bow: But what about you two? Are you ok? Kooper: *coughing* Depends. How much gunpowder are you legally allowed to inhale before it becomes deadly? Bombette: I'd say 0%. Kooper: Then I'm all good. Bombette: *chuckles* Why do you have to be such a goofball after we both almost died? Kooper: What can I say, I'm just an upbeat Koopa through and through. *takes off his bandana* Here. Let me rub all that soot off your body. *wipes Bombette down clean* Bombette: *smiles back* Kooper: You know, I've been thinking. After that whole fiasco with Bruce, I wanted to do whatever I could to cheer you up. You needed a family to make you feel better, rather than someone else trying to be 'the next Bruce'. At the time, I was perfectly fine calling you my sister, because that's what you needed the most at that point. Now though, I'd like to, slightly alter that status. Bombette: You don't have to say it. Because, I've been thinking the same thing too. Romance is tough, and it was something I'd rather not deal with. But having gone on this adventure with you and everyone else has taught me something. And it's that I want to spend the rest of my life with someone who cares about me, while also keeping my feelings at hand. And there's nobody else I'd want to be with, then you Kooper. Kooper: *smiles* So, does this mean we're in an 'official' relationship now, or are we still in that transitional phase of we're best friends but there are probably some underlying feelings we have towards each other that over time wi... Bombette: *kisses Kooper* Shut up you big dummy. *smiles* Kooper: *returns the kiss back* Lester: *seriously trying to hold back tears* Karry: Are you, sweating through your eyes Lester? Lester: ... No! I'm just crying! *cries tears of happiness. Also unknowingly uses Bow's fan as a tissue* Sushie: Ah. I love happy endings. Now let's make it one more by saving the Princess. Watt: Hold up everyone. What happened to Goombario? He was right here with us. Bow: Actually, you're right. Where is he? Goombario: I'm right here. *walks in* I'm ok, but I can't say the same for these. *shows them the now burned journals after the explosion* Rest: *gasps* Goombario: Once you guys exploded, our journals must have gotten launched out of my bag and the embers must have burned them. Almost all of the pages are completely destroyed now and illegible. Bombette: I-I'm sorry guys. It was my idea to... Goombario: Bombette, don't blame yourself. You knew it was the right thing to do when we had no other choice. I should have kept them all more safe. Now it looks like all our memories are gone with the wind. Kooper: But, what about your story? You said you'd catalogue our stories. Goombario: Well without the material anymore and with everything's that's happened to us now. Writing all of that without a guide is impossible now. *everyone looks down in sadness* Goombario: Look, let's not get upset right now. We have a world to save. No burned memories can get in our way. Let's just go beat Bowser, and save the day. Together. Rest: Together. *to be concluded*
I've gotta say that I really enjoyed your Goombario Logs, though I missed a few, and I really wasn't expecting that twist at the end, hopefully, I get to read your final Log, Number 67. 😊
HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP MY SKIN? CLEARED. MY CROPS? WATERED. THE SHIP? SAILED. HOTEL? TRIVAGO. I THINK THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I’VE EVER READ THE LOG BEFORE WATCHING THE EPISODE BECAUSE I REMEMBERED WHAT YOU TOLD ME AND MMMMMMMMMM THIS IS THE GOOD STUFF- I HAVE NO REGRETS, EVEN THOUGH I FEEL LIKE IM TOO GIDDY TO SIT STILL NOW- On another note, man, Mario really being a jerk to his poor party here, huh? Granted, if I was followed by this incredibly stubborn child for this long too, I’d probably feel the same way, but still, poor guys - especially poor Goombario! Considering how I, as well as everyone else who’s followed this series, have been reading all of these logs up until now, it really hurts knowing that, in universe, it’s all gone, makes you really empathize with everyone, y’know? Though, you’re definitely doing things right as a writer if you’re pulling that off!! Just one episode left to go, you got this, dude!!!! ^u^
If a comment similar to this also posted by me appears, let's just say something went wrong earlier. It had too much content. Later... Lily: It's done! *splash* Jr Troopa: *GASP* I LIVED! WOO! Lily: NO! THE POTION! Steve: What!? NO! Jr Troopa: Wait, what did I do? (Wads onto land) Steve: WE WERE WAITING SO LONG TO MAKE THAT! YOU RUINED IT! Red Troop squad: HOW DARE YOU!? OUR PRECIOUS! (Surrounds Jr. Troopa) Troopa: Um, what are you doing? Steve: YOU RUINED OUR EXCELLENT PLAN! YOU MUST TAKE AN APPROPRIATE PUNISHMENT! Troopa: Wait, what? AH! THAT HURTS, MY ARM! OW! I SEE SOMETHING OTHER THAN WRINKLES! AHHHH! Meanwhile... Olimar: Huh? I sense him in a world nearby. Samus: Who? Olimar: OUR TICKET HOME! THIS WAY! In flower fields... (Consul of pikmin from 6 types gather around the unconscious body) Steve: We are here today to discuss this monster's actions. Yellow and blue reprentatives: As fellow pikmin revived by Olimar, we feel obligated to agree to what the red community states. Although we do not agree to their methods to gain power. Purple and white reps.: As pikmin born from red leaves, we feel as if lending support is our duty. Rock rep: As an intelligent rock, I will have my team help you out. And on the behalf of the wings, I state they support your actions. Steve: Take him through. *snap* Rock pikmin #1: What's this blue thing that looks like nectar? Rock pikmin #2: Dare you to drink it. Lily: Hm? NO, DON'T! Steve: THAT HASN'T BEEN TESTED! To be finished tomorrow
Since we're here now, I'd like to note that in the rom hack Dark Star Edition, you actually do get a rematch with the Koopa Bros here. They ditch their tower attack for individual specialties. Green hits the hardest, can't be flipped, and is outright immune to quake hammers. 60HP 2 defense. Yellow is electrified and can call down a thunderbolt to paralyze Mario 60HP 2 defense Black can use an upgraded version of the dark koopa's dizzy attack that both dizzies Mario and launches him for damage afterwards. He also becomes invisible partway through his normal attack to make it harder to block. 40HP 5 defense. Red can attack twice and gets a flame shell that hits Mario and his partner. He also resists most statuses. 60HP 2 defense. They all also get a jump attack where they jump and land on Mario the next turn.
And right after the Koopa Bros. rematch, Jr. Troopa will still fight you, but instead the fight is turned on its head since he drinks a hustle drink, turning the fight into a game of survival while you have to outlive his onslaught of attacks. If you can live through it, he falls flat on his face and the fight is over LOL
@@lautaro.O.L. Spiny flip and spiny surge both do +1 damage to flying enemies. Anything not attached to the ground or ceiling counts as flying. There's no evasion outside of repel gels and outta sight, so cloud 9 is changed to reduce incoming damage by one third. A 9 damage hit would only deal 6 damage. Hurricane is changed to do 5 defense piercing damage to all enemies. It also has a water element making it do additional damage to fire and electric enemies.
@@lautaro.O.L. lakilester is indeed buffed and is actually a really nice partner, but there's also another partner later in the game that you get in bowsers castle in DSE that has some really good moves, including one that basically acts as a renewable hustle drink.
I recommend Berserker Mario for the Koopa Bros fight since they inflict a lot of Statuses and you're very unlikely to have Feeling Fine as it has been relocated to somewhere super hard to reach.
Personally I think it's hilarious that they build up the koopa bros to return only for them to be immediately knocked away by this literal child that's been bugging you the whole game lol. The koopa bros were never super competent anyways, so this always felt like a fitting end to me
Felt like a rip-off to me. I wanted to see just how much they improved, and this little embryo pipsqueak cuts the damn line at the bar to ask for a gotdang milk in a dirty glass. Poor Bros. didn't deserve it.
@@tonyhakston536 Well, when the writers give you the only Back-Attack in the ENTIRE GAME, and the fact they were caught off-guard by the snot-nosed brat [and let's not forget the stronger-than-an-anime-mc-protagonist-level plot armor they've been giving the little beak-for-brains], OFC he's going to be able to "one-shot" someone stronger than him. I know BS plot-armor when I smell it, and BOY does that rotten eggshell STINK.
This entire playthrough can be summed up with the sentence, “Oh no, that’s the required path!” Followed by you going in every other possible direction until the required path is all that’s left.
Emile - as of late, I have been dealing with a lot of health issues. Mental, physical - you name it. I’ve been in such a negative place, but I thought you might appreciate to read that this series (as well as your past ones - I’ve been around for roughly 9, 10 years now I think?) always brings light to my days. I fall asleep to them, listen to them on my drives home from work, and while I may not know you on a personal level, you have provided immeasurable amounts of comfort to me. Thank you so much. You are wildly loved, friend.
When you reminisced about the original Paper Mario LP, it really touched my heart. We're just as glad you are still making LPs like these. I don't think I could ever get tired of it 🥰
I've tried not to compare things too much and talk about the old one because I want this to stand on its own, but I felt it was the right time if I was going to say it just once.
Emile, you are right about Shaved Ice being an Item in TTYD. However, it is only observable in this game as an OBJECT in one of the Penguin's Houses in Freezezy Peaks. If you see something that looks a little bit like Shaved Ice in there, it probably is, and was only considered a Decoration until somebody decided it would be a Good Idea to Include it as an Item in the next game. Basically, it foreshadows an item for the next game.
The final Save Block… Those pillars, the spiral staircase, that theme of Bowser’s Anger… It’s all been burnt into my brain from all the times I beat this game. Next part is gonna be a big blast! We’re all counting on you to make it an even BIGGER BLAST!
I'm genuinely kind of emotional that this Let's Play is ending. I love Paper Mario so much, and Emile's knowledge of this game front to back makes LPs like this one SO much fun to watch. I'm crossing my fingers that we get to see Chugga play through TTYD again in the future!
I personally don't mind the Jr. Trooper fight because I admittedly didn't know the Kent C Koopa trivia until I watched this series. A part of what made the last Jr. Trooper fight for me, is the cumulation of his abilities. We saw him changing powersets a lot throughout the entire game with him being able to use all of them here, something he couldn't do previously. It felt, to me as a kid at least, like a final test of adjusting to what he could do. Though I will say that it would have been cool to have the Koopa Bros as a separate fight also in the castle instead of them being one-shot by Jr. Trooper.
The music in this endgame (hell, the whole game) is spectacular. Starting out with the intensity of Bowser’s Castle’s highest floor, followed up by the eeriness of Peach’s Castle, the contrast is all so damn good here. Side note, it’s hilarious to me how they troll you w/ Jr Troopa. He’s so petty that he followed you to the castle *in the sky*, and that’s why I love it
Can’t believe tomorrow is the end! Been loving how cozy and nostalgic this let’s play makes me feel. It coming out around the holidays and early into the new year really added to that.
Personal fun fact about this Bowser fight and the final one: I somehow left Bowser with 1hp in both fights with my final attacks and he wound up finishing himself off by hitting me and getting zapped by the Zap Tap badge I had equipped. First time gave me a chuckle, but it happening twice had me dying of laughter! Not how I was expecting to finish Paper Mario haha
Honestly, I'm also mixed about the whole fake-out with Jr. Troopa and the Koopa Bros. On the one hand, it's kind of funny to have our expectations subverted, thinking we were going to get an upgraded Koopa Bros. fight, only to have them be tossed away easily. On the other hand, I think a lot of folks would agree Jr. Troopa's worn out his welcome by this point, especially by this very act. He's already stubbornly persistent, chasing Mario down all because he dared to enter his territory (something Mario wouldn't even have known about) and defended himself against him when he attacked him. The Koopa Bros. are a lot more fun as characters and enemies, and we got cheated out of seeing a rematch against them, all because Jr. Troopa needed to have one last fight against Mario.
I hate that they don't just end it after him literally freezing to death in the previous chapter. That would have been much more satisfying. And as you said, he gets old really fast no matter what. Even as a kid, I never liked those fights, they were just annoying.
They probably could have had both. Since the Anti-Guys are an optional fight, if I remember right, meaning they could have had the Koopa Bros be a midboss earlier on. Then get to the last door and it tell Mario he's in for a world of pain only to reveal their "ultimate weapon" is just Jr. Troopa. It wouldn't be a huge surprise since he's shown up every single chapter and would explain how he got there if Kammy summoned the brat as the only enemy crazy enough to keep with Mario all journey, but it would be funny build up to discover Troopa is the final fight before Bowser.
April 1st 2023 Chugga secretly compiled 72 lp episodes of paper mario sticker star and uploads them all at once at midnight the 1st of april He then deletes them end of april and gaslights us saying it never happened
You’re not the only one who thought the Star Beam icon was a present box Chuggaa. I thought the same thing and just found out today via you that the icon is the seven star spirits together. That’s crazy. Also can’t believe the let’s play is reaching its conclusion next time. Good luck against the Koopa King!
I loved how Jr. Troopa just blew through the Koopa Bros like they were nothing, but I don't like his final fight. I think he should have the Spike, Wings, and Rod. I think the fight would be much more interesting if he had the benefits of all of his forms at once, and it would mirror how you've played through the game: constantly changing Badges and Partners only to settle for, what I assume you believe to be the best set-up against Bowser. It also would have showed how far Jr. has pushed himself, having mastered so many tactics and techniques so well that he can blend them together to have all of their strengths with effectively none of their weaknesses.
I like Jr. Troopa's last fight there for all the reasons Emile says he doesn't like it. Having a persistent rival of sorts grow with yu throughout the adventure, hitting the climax as the second to last boss in the game is always a great trope, and how they treat the Koopa Bros. throughout fits how at least I think the idea for their presentation was intended: them being completely useless at their jobs. They're the weakest boss fight in the game in terms of numbers (being the first boss in an RPG generally means they're the weakest on the sliding scale in-universe) and are only ever threatening because *we're* weak at the start. They're shown to be highly incompetent and unintelligent as characters (though very entertaining, yes). By constantly bringing them up and reminding us of them throughout the game, only to instantly trash them as soon as they come back, it accomplishes the ultimate goal: showing they're all bark and no bite. They're all talk and hot air, but they're completely ineffective as villains, and I feel that that's their entire intended characterization.
Big missed opportunity is they could have had Jr Troopa join forces with the Koopa Bros as one big epic boss fight, maybe with Jr casting buff spells on the Bros or joining the tower.
Question: What prevented us from flying The Legendary Star Ship straight to the base of Princess Peach's Castle, thus avoiding all of the dangers of Bowser's Castle? Especially if it's not required to save the Prisoners in Bowser's Castle.
Maybe The Legendary Star Ship uses the powers of the star spirits, and maybe after giving their power to Mario there was barely enough left to reach Bowser's Castle.
Anti-air defences? Hammer bros. artillery and air-to-air magikoopas? The Star Ship could approach from below to dock in the airport, but any higher might have left Mario and co. vulnerable to attack.
It is so hard to believe that this playthrough is basically over. Despite that, this was a great LP from start to finish. There were so many memorable moments and I loved Emile's energy. Thank you so much for making this awesome LP, Emile!
The fakeout is hilarious. I hate how there’s no way back without the long trip back. Hard Mode mods thankfully fix this. Also, Peach’s Castle music in Chapter 8 is my 3rd favorite song in the game
This let's play made me try Bug Fables and TTYD and I'm happy that I have. Chuggaa has once again made me care about a series I completely dismissed before. I can't wait for the finale tomorrow!
I'll be honest, until Chugga listed off all the times the Koopa Bros have been mentioned in the game after Chapter 1, I literally forgot about them lmao
Honestly, after Ch.1, I don't feel like the game treats them as a serious threat, more like a joke than anything, meanwhile Jr. is constantly on your tail, gaining new abilities to take you down and we actually see this in-game.
@@axlexe8639 I do wonder where are the Koopa Bros being fleshed out exactly come from...I guess from Kent C. Koopa as some say and maybe some letters, but I felt Tubba Blubba has a bit more intrigue, while Jr. Troopa has been more developed growth-wise, with gradual showing how he became stronger and the final battle being the culmination of that.
Yup, I had the same exact idea and thought that star beam was a present box, especially because of Mayor Penguin's present design. I never questioned it and kind of just accepted it for all these years.
I feel you so much on the Jr. Troopa fight, it's such a letdown that a rematch of the very cool Koopa Bros is thrown out in favor of the same joke they've been pulling with Jr. all game
"I love Bowser's limbs!" Having witnessed his arms in Super Paper Mario, I don't blame you for still having that opinion from all those years ago when you LP'ed that game. Also, his temper tantrum was way funnier than I expected
Thank for this wonderful let's play! been feeling very down and this playthrough cheered me up so much! as much unfortunate it is to see it end, its been good to be in this journey!
I find those pastel coloured blocks to be incongruous with the aesthetic! - The DAMN lantern maze! This is the last thing in this game that stymied me every playthrough. - I was honestly excited to try to challenge a harder version of the Koopa Bros. I didn't mind fighting Jr. again as a kid, but now that you mention it and I think about it more...yeah! They were building up to a rematch with the Koopa Bros! Wonder if it was the original plan and then they were rushed so we got Jr. instead.
Even after all these years I still can’t wait for an opportunity to watch your content! I was 9 when I watched you play paper Mario for the first time and now I’m 22 getting to relive my happiest days as a kid❤️
Plus... from what I've seen, Mothiva is like a Bug Fables equivalent of Jr Troopa - she's whiny, annoying, only concerned about herself, and even interrupts a rematch boss fight so you can fight HER one final time. Because this is about HER, and not some giant feral weevil.
4:29 In the second game, they put torches in the room by the door. The pattern is easy enough to remember. 8:06 That is a funny pose. 18:15 While it never happened, he did make a cameo in the second game. When you get an e-mail from Zip Toad, you'll see him in the picture's background. I think in his Wing and spike form. 24:45 Yeah he gets mad when he misses. 25:05 Bowser's limbs!
It's crazy knowing the last episode is tomorrow, hearing how it's been 14 years since his original Paper Mario lets play reminded me how many I've watched over the years, and how much this channel has grown too. I remember I first found Chuggas channel because of Super Mario Sunshine, it made me laugh my heart out in such a tough time of my life and since then I've fallen in love with so many games because of Chuggas channel; Pikmin, Okami, Xenoblade, and many more..now Paper Mario has soared higher in the list of my top favorite games with this lets play. I can't wait to see what comes next in the finale and watch this amazing game come to a close after such an awesome lets play.
I'm surprised that Jr. Troopa's fight has such a mixed reaction, it was bar none the funniest joke in the game to me as a kid. All the extra lore Chugga showed about the Koopa Bros. in this let's play just makes the rug pull funnier imo. I personally really like characters who are persistent and petty and Jr. Troopa learning the dark arts, swimming across the ocean, and flying up to Bowser's Castle because you accidently wandered into his territory one time ticks all the boxes for me, real Invader Zim energy. I also think this is the only RPG besides Pokémon to have a persistent rival type of character, I'm not talking a group of villains that you constantly have to fight for your life against I mean a rival who, while they may wish to do harm on you, is ultimately not a threat. It's something I wish TTYD or other Mario RPGs had honestly, I always felt Wario and Waluigi could've served a similar role in a Mario and Luigi game. It's cool seeing a character consistently grow and get tougher across a game just like you have imo, and it makes thematic sense that he would be one of the last enemies on your journey. I guess it also helps that I wasn't enamored with the Koopa Bros. like other people, I didn't hate them or anything I just wasn't a TMNT kid so they always rung like a knockoff rather than an homage, which made them getting trounced by an actual baby even funnier.
Yeah, it's kinda funny with Jr. Troopa coming in and knocking away the koopa bros., but the koopa bros just have so much more appeal that you gotta feel a bit disappoint not getting to rematch them. Especially since giving them some new techniques and stuff would probably make for a better boss fight.
It’s hard to believe that this game is rapping up this quickly. Feels just like yesterday when you started this let’s play. It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come since your original LP of this game. Can’t wait to see the finale!
It's a bit weird as I'm currently listening to other "let's plays" by you as background noise while playing a different game on my switch. Just earlier today I finished listening to M&L:SS after starting on Friday, and I'm now on to M&L:PiT. Got to the vim factory part 2 when the battery alert went off. Waiting for my switch to recharge, so I decided to watch this video in the meantime.
Emile!!!! Don’t forget that Life Shroom in the Library! Lol. I mean, no big deal honestly, I just thought it was something you’d kick yourself for missing. I don’t know if you record these and post them the day after, or if you stock pile episodes days prior and schedule post. Either way, I’m so sad this coming to an end. This Lets Play really got me through a very tough time these last few months. This LP in particular Resparked my love for playing Video Games again. It’s been quite the ride, and I’m so grateful to have found this channel *years* ago, in 09 I think, via Mario Sunhine and Fire Red LP’s. I remember when I thought you were gonna LP Heart Gold, but instead chose GBC Crystal and found your Shiny! Over 10 years of Chugga in my Sub feed, and here’s to over 20+ 🍻
I think I thought of a purpose for Super Smash Charge. It's VERY specific though. You get into a battle with a Koopatrol and a Magikoopa. You don't have Spike Shield. The Magikoopa makes the Koopatrol invisible and then dies. You can use Super Smash Charge to make your first available hammer attack against the Koopatrol stronger.
I think it would have been much cooler if when Jr Troopa crashed the Koopa Bros fight, if you just fought all 5 of them together Coulda had a face off with Kami Koopa before Bowser too
I'd like to think that perhaps the Koopa Bros MAY have been replaced but the Elite Trio in the M&L series, that or since they began to use the Koopalings so much THEY were the replacement?
This series made me nostalgic for the Paper Mario series as a whole. I just replayed Super Paper Mario and Origami King again: two games in the series I feel are underrated. I always appreciate Emile's series for reigniting my love for my favorite series from Nintendo. Thanks for this LP man. Sad that it's nearly over, but it was a blast the whole way through.
This was one of my favorite N64 games. Thank you for doing this game justice. If i get a nintendo 64 again, I will use your playthrough to breeze through.
Been waiting for this part of the adventure to say it, but I think revisiting Peach's Castle at the end is my favorite single moment in this entire game, and combined with Bowser's Castle is probably my favorite final level in the entire Mario series. Paper Mario starts off the story by letting you tool around a small part of the castle and talking with the other guests, some of whom you'll meet again later in the adventure, but not getting to explore too much of it at first. Then once her castle gets towed to space, you can't access it as Mario until the end of the game, but you do get to explore it as Peach. To contrast with the beginning, instead of guests you're dealing with guards, with what was once a friendly place having become (mostly) hostile. Yet slowly, eventually, you do get to explore more of the castle, more rooms become available as Peach, etching the layout into memory as you do even if your freedom is limited and you get yanked away from what you were doing because of Bowser or Kammy. Then once you've stormed Bowser's Castle, braved everything the Koopa King has thrown at you, you finally get back up here, where everything began. However, in spite of being able to explore pretty much everything in it, it's almost completely empty. No Koopatrols, no secret boss, just a lone Toad and maybe a Jammin' Jelly to serve as your healing before finally fighting Bowser again. It makes the castle feel more desolate than it would have otherwise, because you've been here several times, you've explored all these rooms, and you've seen all those guards before, and it builds the tension even higher. I can't say enough good about this moment. It's hard to pick what my favorite Chapter is in this game, but this moment crystalized this game's slot as my favorite game all those years ago. No other attempt at making Peach's Castle as the final level, or any final level in the Mario series, has ever come close to nailing that pathos to me.
Can't believe the lp is ending tomorrow, this has been such a joy through some tough moments and very nostalgic. Thanks for teaching us so many new things about this amazing game!!
Yeah I'm gonna be honest here: Bow despite how much Chugga loves her....she's probably one of the worst party members in this game because she does not do well against defense and enemies with defense become a lot more common in the late game...she falls off HARD and becomes a strictly defensive party member as her damage output will be basically non-existent
Love that you brought up the present box for the icon on CRTs. It wasn't until the Wii virtual console and it's less blurry resolution that it clicked for me what it actually was haha.
Hey Chuggaa! I’ve been playing this game alongside your playthrough and I just finished it myself for the first time. SUCH A GOOD GAME! Can’t wait to see the finale tomorrow!!!
I feel like the tough question has to be asked. If you can pierce Bowser's defenses when he's invincible, what would happen if you beat Bowser during the first fight while he's using the Star Rod's power? Does he comment on the fact you shouldn't of been able to hurt him while he was invincible?
@@C_Arson oh I'm sorry I should have specified. I meant the first fight that is an actual fight not a scripted loss. I know for a fact if you win on the very first encounter it crashes the game.
@Master Dimentio Oh, I see. I don't know the answer to that question, though if Bowser doesn't comment when you first hit him while he's "invincible", I don't imagine he would comment on it when he's defeated either.
You got to admire the dedication of Jr. Troopa. He somehow found a way to travel through space and found his way through Bowser's castle just so he could battle Mario. And all because Mario entered his turf that one time.
If only it didn’t rob us of an actually awesome refight. Like, I’m not even chuckling at that, that’s just obnoxious to me.
I assume he flew
Thank you... so thankful for this run every day.
@@chugga, you gonna do some XP grinding for the last bit to get 100%?
@@chuggaGiven recent announcements might TTYD be in consideration for a replay? I would hope they didn't just give it a graphical update so there might be new content, but Metroid Prime did it so maybe not.
@@dustinbragg1921 They added in two new end game bosses! Among other content as well. Such a fantastic game.
I fully agree!
Nah, it's a pretty lame fake out.
Well tomorrow is the last episode of this let’s play, thank you for this wonderful journey we’ve gone through! Even if it is over, I’ll be glad I was able to join the journey.
I am honestly hoping that there is a bonus episode where he explains some of the missed details or fun facts about this game

Goombario's Log Day 66: Today's the day. We're finally here. The end is in our future. We've reached the end of Bowser's Castle now. All that remain, is the final bout with Bowser. This is it we've go.......
*in the room with the final Bowser Head*
Koopa Bros: Alright Mario, time to end this fight once and for all!
Goombario: You think we're going to let you win so easily?
Kooper: We beat you once.
Bombette: And we'll beat you again.
Koopa Bros: Go ahead. Nothing, and I mean nothing can stop us now! AHahahaaaa......
*then, Jr. Troopa comes in and knocks the Koopa Bros. away*
Parakarry: OH COME ON MAN!!!
Troopa, but their attacks just bounce off*
All: What!?
Jr. Troopa: Ha ha! You fools! I am invincible!
Kooper: Wait, Mario! Use the Star Spi... Mario?
Mario: *casually steps out of the room signaling to them, 'You're on your own' before closing the door*
Bow: Great.
Go!
*Bombette rushes to Jr. and begins charging up for Mega Bomb*
Jr.
Windows shatter, bricks crumble, guards are left in shock*
Koopatrol: What's happening!?
Hammer Bro: Is it an earthquake!
Goomba: But that's impossible! We're in the sky!
*suddenly, the shaking stops. Inside the castle, all is quiet.
Goombario, Karry, Bow, Watt, Sushie, and Lester: *groaning in pain after bracing for impact*
Sushie: Everyone ok?
Watt: I, think so.
Karry: *hacking in pain*
Bow: I'm dead and I still felt that pain. But wait, where's Kooper and Bombette?
*the five look around and see the two against a wall and rush over*
Lester: Kooper!
Watt: Bombette!
*Kooper and Bombette gain consciousness*
Bombette: D-did we do it?
*wipes Bombette down clean*
Bombette: *smiles back*
Kooper: You know, I've been thinking.
*smiles*
Kooper: *returns the kiss back*
Lester: *seriously trying to hold back tears*
Karry: Are you, sweating through your eyes Lester?
Lester: ... No! I'm just crying! *cries tears of happiness. Also unknowingly uses Bow's fan as a tissue*
Sushie: Ah.
*shows them the now burned journals after the explosion*
Rest: *gasps*
Goombario: Once you guys exploded, our journals must have gotten launched out of my bag and the embers must have burned them.
*everyone looks down in sadness*
Goombario: Look, let's not get upset right now. We have a world to save. No burned memories can get in our way. Let's just go beat Bowser, and save the day. Together.
Rest: Together.
*to be concluded*

Since we're here now, I'd like to note that in the rom hack Dark Star Edition, you actually do get a rematch with the Koopa Bros here. They ditch their tower attack for individual specialties.
Green hits the hardest, can't be flipped, and is outright immune to quake hammers. 60HP 2 defense.
Yellow is electrified and can call down a thunderbolt to paralyze Mario 60HP 2 defense
Black can use an upgraded version of the dark koopa's dizzy attack that both dizzies Mario and launches him for damage afterwards.
Does the mod buff Lakilester? Legit asking, don't care for spoilers
@@nd35780 They all got one-shot by someone with 8 attack. Clearly they didn’t improve that much.
May things get better for you soon! But please, give yourself some credit too. You were the one who got here through it all.

Negative days don’t last forever, take control brother! You’re strong
That's how you know she's a Duplighost in disguise - only Bowser's followers would refer to him as king. Peach definitely just calls him "Bowser".
"Why am I sounding like a mom" best quote from chugga in this entire let's play
I personally don't mind the Jr. Trooper fight because I admittedly didn't know the Kent C Koopa trivia until I watched this series.
A part of what made the last Jr. Trooper fight for me, is the cumulation of his abilities. We saw him changing powersets a lot throughout the entire game with him being able to use all of them here, something he couldn't do previously. It felt, to me as a kid at least, like a final test of adjusting to what he could do.
Though I will say that it would have been cool to have the Koopa Bros as a separate fight also in the castle instead of them being one-shot by Jr. Trooper.
I agree on both accounts.
Personal fun fact about this Bowser fight and the final one:
I somehow left Bowser with 1hp in both fights with my final attacks and he wound up finishing himself off by hitting me and getting zapped by the Zap Tap badge I had equipped.
Hey, surprised to see you
I hate that they don't just end it after him literally freezing to death in the previous chapter.
Imagine if the Jr. Troopa fight was instead a Boss Rush with Jr. Troopa at the end
You couldn't really fight Tubba Blubba or the Lava Piranha, but the other 5 when scaled to Chapter 8 power could be fun to face
April 1st 2023

You’re not the only one who thought the Star Beam icon was a present box Chuggaa. I thought the same thing and just found out today via you that the icon is the seven star spirits together. That’s crazy. Also can’t believe the let’s play is reaching its conclusion next time. Good luck against the Koopa King!
Hard to believe it’s almost the end already
Too bad that Chuggaaconroy's Paper Mario Let's Play is almost coming to a close, but the whole journey is such a wild ride.
Oh hey. It's you.
*"(Whispering) Hey guys it's Chuggaconroy and welcome back to PAPER MARIO!!!"* - Chugga Old Paper Mario Let's Play
Man I am hype for tomorrow's episode. I still can't believe how fast this LP went by
Big missed opportunity is they could have had Jr Troopa join forces with the Koopa Bros as one big epic boss fight, maybe with Jr casting buff spells on the Bros or joining the tower.
Or even Peaches balcony?
Anti-air defences? Hammer bros. artillery and air-to-air magikoopas? The Star Ship could approach from below to dock in the airport, but any higher might have left Mario and co. vulnerable to attack.
@@gigabyte2248 I was think that too.

The fakeout is hilarious.

I always thought the Star Beam icon was the Rainbow Badge from Celadon city. Today I learned it’s the star spirits.
8:21 I guess you could say that Magikoopa has “wood” 😆
Man, Jr. really is a *Troopa* making it all the way to fight us here.
Wonder if he knows a particular red Pikmin...
Yup, I had the same exact idea and thought that star beam was a present box, especially because of Mayor Penguin's present design. I never questioned it and kind of just accepted it for all these years.
I wish Jr. Troopa would have teamed up with the Koopa Bros for one final fight. It would have been so cool!
I feel you so much on the Jr. Troopa fight, it's such a letdown that a rematch of the very cool Koopa Bros is thrown out in favor of the same joke they've been pulling with Jr. all game
Jr Troopa is incredibly dedicated, he would even try to follow Mario in the sequel. 😂
Oh please god no.
Chugga: finally uses Bombette's Mega Bomb
Also Chugga: "Mega Bomb is bad."
Here’s to praying the Ness PK Starstorm bit makes it to the ending!
"I love Bowser's limbs!" Having witnessed his arms in Super Paper Mario, I don't blame you for still having that opinion from all those years ago when you LP'ed that game. Also, his temper tantrum was way funnier than I expected
10:00
good grief Chugga that really caught me off guard
Considering how Bowser Jr in Paper Jam mentions being friendless, I wonder how he’d feel if Kamek and Bowser paid Jr Troopa to hang with him.
Could be friends, could hate each other, who knows.
13:46 love the reference to the TMNT movie Chugga!
Im so happy that I came along for the ride. I never played a Paper Mario game before, but this let’s play was so much fun to watch. :)
Been a while since I watched an entire chuggaa lets play. Paper Mario supremacy
I have been enjoying every moment since you uploaded the first episode
Thank for this wonderful let's play! been feeling very down and this playthrough cheered me up so much! as much unfortunate it is to see it end, its been good to be in this journey!
LETS A GOOOO. After all that trouble bowser put us thorough, lets give him the boot shall we
Hard to believe that it’s already the end, this was such a great series and I’m definitely looking forward to the finale tomorrow
25:09
I guess Bowser was still in the process of learning to spin his arms when panicking
Honestly, I feel the same way as you on the matter of Jr troopa robbing the player of a koopa bros rematch.
Same!
You've heard of bowsers arms
Now get ready for...
BOWSERS LIMBS™
Plus... from what I've seen, Mothiva is like a Bug Fables equivalent of Jr Troopa - she's whiny, annoying, only concerned about herself, and even interrupts a rematch boss fight so you can fight HER one final time. Because this is about HER, and not some giant feral weevil.
I learned that star beam interaction from watching the paper mario master quest superbosses.
I can't wait to see what comes next in the finale and watch this amazing game come to a close after such an awesome lets play.
i was having so much fun with this one that i didnt realize it was almost over
I'm surprised that Jr.
Especially since giving them some new techniques and stuff would probably make for a better boss fight.
i feel like if the jr koopa fight was a phase 2 to a koopa bros battle that couldve been pretty cool
It’s hard to believe that this game is rapping up this quickly. Feels just like yesterday when you started this let’s play. It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come since your original LP of this game. Can’t wait to see the finale!
Emile.... You're going to make Daisy jealous with all that talk of 'tasting' Princess Peach.
So glad I caught up right before the final episode!
Ayy! Nice reference to Raphael's "Damn!" at 13:49! Lol
You can use Super Smash Charge to make your first available hammer attack against the Koopatrol stronger.
man this has been such a part of my day im going to miss it soon Keep it up Chugga!
I think it would have been much cooler if when Jr Troopa crashed the Koopa Bros fight, if you just fought all 5 of them together
Coulda had a face off with Kami Koopa before Bowser too
I'd like to think that perhaps the Koopa Bros MAY have been replaced but the Elite Trio in the M&L series, that or since they began to use the Koopalings so much THEY were the replacement?
This series made me nostalgic for the Paper Mario series as a whole. I just replayed Super Paper Mario and Origami King again: two games in the series I feel are underrated. I always appreciate Emile's series for reigniting my love for my favorite series from Nintendo. Thanks for this LP man. Sad that it's nearly over, but it was a blast the whole way through.
13:49 "DAMN!"
Never thought he referenced TMNT 1990, I like it.
Jr. Troopa makes a VERY tiny cameo in Thousand Year Door.
And it's through an email, for some reason.
This was one of my favorite N64 games. Thank you for doing this game justice. If i get a nintendo 64 again, I will use your playthrough to breeze through.
10:03 "Umm.. I'll have you know that I've tasted her and she's very sour." -Chuggaaconroy 2023
Daisy is not gonna like this.
Was looking for this comment 😛
“I tasted her and she was very sour” EMILE!!!
The Star Beam icon kinda looks like the Celadon City Gym Badge from Pokèmon.
We are hyping up for a couple of the best soundtracks in this game can’t wait for the finale!
Well at least the Koopa Bros. got some action in the fan animation Super Mario Bros Z.
Can't believe the lp is ending tomorrow, this has been such a joy through some tough moments and very nostalgic. Thanks for teaching us so many new things about this amazing game!!
If I recall, in the letter to Lakilester, his old gang said that he would have to beat Bowser to regain his cred.
I'm so happy and sad that this series is almost over.
I'm pretty sure the game would just crash since it's supposed to be a forced loss battle and it wouldn't know how to handle it not being a loss.
