Wolfs Movie Review - The Old Dogs Are Back

- Wolfs Movie Review - Apple+ has a new, big-budget exclusive starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Teaming up once again for an entertaining comedy. At least, that was the idea. The movie has a very slow pace, small laughs and a premise that falls apart the longer it goes on. While it's fun to see Pitt and Clooney team up again, Wolfs just ain't it.

This movie allegedly cost 300 $Million to be made and Clooney & Pitt got paid 30 $ Million each, while the director got 15 $ Million.
They could made 30 Godzilla Minus-One movies with this budget, just to put it into perspective.
Just a heads up, I plan on using the Godzilla minus one budget argument for the rest of my life.
Did George Clooney spend the money on building a Starbucks on set
@@Hovisr-s1v I was just outside my apartment enjoying the weather and for some reason the thought that someone paid $200 million dollars for a Netflix movie ruined my evening, hahaha. How the hell do these movies even make a profit if it’s not released in the theaters for at least a few months. I need to take a course in streaming movies/easy profit 101
200M, not 300M. And yeah 200 is also too much.
Whenever they advertise the actors and not what the movie is about, it's probably because the movie sucks, and they know it sucks.
Actors are way past it as far as modern audiences go anyway!
Exactly
Yep, they're relying on big-name star power to carry the movie.
Americans can't even find a 20 something year old kid without a potbelly anymore. lol
I liked this movie. They have great chemistry. I’ve watched 5 times already. Not many feel good movies out there that I can watch while I am multitasking. Is it the greatest movie ever, no. But it’s a vibe.
Wolfs is a fun watch. It is a simple plot, executed well. Good performances from both Clooney and Pitt, as expected.
I’m one of the few who actually liked it.
I did like it too.
Gave me that winter city, Max Paine video games vibes, too.
This movie is basically a reimagining of Mr & Mrs Smith. From their respective employers orchestrating everything in order to have them eliminated to the two men comparing resumes. There is also a “third wheel” character that has an interrogation scene that is basically identical to the Mr & Mrs smith scene with Adam Brody. Same movie but not nearly as good
Ocean's 11 minus 9 😄
200 million??? How? I thought it had 50 million at most. It was OK but terrible for budget.
I thought this was mid-budget…and for that it was fun. Incredible waste of money, TV quality script at best. If you’re going to spend 200m, why not get the script nailed?
Started good and then went into nothing special with an annoying surviving corpse. Nobody gets something out of this. Not action fans, not comedy fans, no cool twists besides he's alive. And the charme and charisma of Clooney/Pitt can't carry it for the complete runtime. Perfect on a streaming platform. This has no right to play in theatres. Why $200 million? Because there's no backend. So Apple paid upfront. No more money later. Even if the movie gets Apple 200 million new subscribers. Which it won't.
Y’all some haters it was a pretty good movie
I thought it was a pretty fun movie , not perfect but better than a lot of the crap we get ,I'd give it a 6.5 or 7/10
A MacGuffin is a plot device in a movie that drives the story and motivates the characters, but is ultimately unimportant or irrelevant: In this case, THE PLOT ITSELF IS THE MACGUFFIN!
Still didnt understand the story. Buddies or Wolfs. Ah, i dont care.
“He wasn’t a prostitute.” 😂
I liked the movie but I’m glad I didn’t know the budget was so high or I would’ve had higher expectations.
It's a terrible movie. The story was dragging, couldn't believe they spent 20 minutes chasing a guy in his socks. Most screen time were just Pitt and Clooney duplicating each other, to the point it wasn't funny anymore, and the wedding scene felt like it was there just to fill time. It's like the producer told the director: "I want them in a movie together, we don't have writers, so you figure it out!"
The pace was just too slow
This sort of thing CAN work with phenomenal dialogue / banter, lacking that, probably a skip :/
Everything was sooo slow to the draw,. Like every shot/moment was 5 seconds too long.
Get Shorty ("that sort of thing") phenomenal dialogue/banter (the argument over when to use e.g. versus i.e. was hilarious), but that had a script by Elmore Leonard, a gifted novelist and short story writer. I was hoping Wolfs would be similar, but Jon Watts is no Elmore Leonard.
Money laundering
Watched this with no context and without the trailer. Just saw it has 6.5 on IMDb before watching, and I must say I think the reviews are a bit harsh. The first half is pretty fun if a little drawn out, second half makes less and less sense as it goes on. And the ending was just trying to do a plot twist that made zero sense and barely any build up. To be brutally honest I still don’t get the ending completely, but the more I read the more I suspect that’s more on poor storytelling and not on me
I turned it off when the Chalamet knock-off "kid" wouldn't close his mouth while eating in the diner. Literally, eff that noise.
Felt I had already tolerated enough awful acting (the real Chalamet is bad enough, did we need a knock-off?) and laughably bad script at that point. I wasn't gonna allow them to also offend my ear with purposefully annoying sounds.
Easily one of the worst movies of the year.
The most unrealistic part of this movie was the kid wearing tight white briefs and some cheap white hanes socks 😂
Nobody wears those anymore, unless you buy your clothes at Walmart. It’s not 1980
Not sure why, but mediocrity seems to be the new awesome. Examples:
1. Wolfs
2. Deadpool 3
3. Killer (heart broken as absolute David Fincher fan)
4. Bad Boys 4
5. Beverly Hills Cop 4
I mean, the list goes on and on.
The story of how the high profile politician comes in possession of a fixers number is not believable. The not prostitutes story of getting the drugs is lousy. Then everyone is dead while he hides in a car. What? The story would have been better had the kid been a gangsters kid playing the fixers the whole time after he got back on his feet.
The reason the budget it so high (and many apple + movies) is cause there’s no backend. When you release a movie theatrically you get backend on the BO. But apple doesn’t work that way, or that many streaming movies tbh
Just so damn average. No wonder they changed the theatrical release to streaming.
It almost seems like they're aiming for average with these kind of movies. "What's the most boring and easiest thing we can make while still making a little more money than we spent?"
So that explains why the promotional ads tell you nothing about the plot, only that Pitt and Clooney are in it!
I thought it was horrible. If the guy was still alive what was there to “fix”??? She didn’t seem concerned with cleaning up her affair. And why did they need to be cleaned? Don’t waste your time.
With actors like this I expect quality like The Nice Guys movie but nope, was bored.
$200M is wild for this film. Sure, Clooney, Pitt and the director were paid a lot, but that still leaves around 150M for other stuff.
It’s a movie taking place exclusively at night with few characters, a few shootouts and with the characters mostly going from places like hotel rooms to shops and apartments, and driving around in deserted streets. Dune II cost less!!
No way this costs $300 mil to make. That said i enjoyed it more than i thought. But agree nothing great but not bad at all.
There's a reason a movie like this costs $200M, because there's no backdoor participation, so the talent gets paid way more upfront than normally. There's little to no advertising, it goes to the theaters for 1 week for potential awards participation, and then it's dumped on streaming. Jon Watt was paid $15M while Clooney and Pitt were originally paid $35M+ a piece but per Clooney the two gave back a portion of the money but didn't mention how much after a wider theatrical release fell though. So who knows what the movie really cost or what the duo was really paid.
Hi Adam. I was so looking fwd this movie. Highly disappointed
The premise is a lovely lady picking up a kid that look like some teenager is just wrong! What did she see on that person 🤮 that turned her on ? No.
What bothered me the most was how the script tells us that they are the best of the best. Top tier professionals who are the only ones who can pull off the job. Then for the next 90 minutes the movie SHOWS us that they're a bunch of bumbling doofuses who by mere luck finish the job. Also, the script tells us that if they're seen together by the ultra-violent mob boss they'll be instantly disposed of, but when they're inevitably seen together by the mob boss, he greets them as though they're bestie buds, tells them to put their guns away and they all go have a drink and are immediately let go. The writer was also the director so I blame him for the terrible attempts at breaking audience expectations so he could insert his poor attempt at humor.
It's not WOLVES. It's Wolfs!
This movie is pure GARBAGE!
I would never watch a movie with a clowney in it😂
$200 million??? There is nothing that justifies that budget! Not even salaries. Especially not for Clooney, who I would argue was never a box office draw. Check out his filmography, and his films that grossed over $100 million domestically. Were they hits because Clooney was in them, or because of other factors? He starred in by far the lowest grossing Batman movie, BATMAN & ROBIN, at $107 million. THE PERFECT STORM grossed $180 million, but it was a special effects movie that capitalized on the short-lived, renewed interest in disaster movies at the turn of the century. SPY KIDS? Come on. The Ocean's movies? Much more because of the all-star cast as opposed to Clooney alone. More consistent hit-makers like Matt Damon and Brad Pitt were also in the cast. And finally, GRAVITY, which is his biggest box-office grosser, but it stars bona fide box office draw Sandra Bullock in a special effects-laden near masterpiece. Sorry, Clooney.
Why do critics even consider a movies budget? Has nothing to do with the movie and just shows how much you hate the movie before you saw it.
Did you not hear me? I looked up the budget during the review. I had no idea what it was ahead of time. It's just a fun fact to throw out there. Sometimes an amazing movie has a tiny budget, which makes it all the more impressive.
If production house mention their budget, it's probably because they're bragging how much they put into the movie and you should appreciate it. High budget is also a scam so they skip commission to workers.
Now having that said, when budget is mentioned by critics, most likely they're mocking how stupid production house throwing so much money into something unworthy, or on the contrary - play smart by delivering quality movie with far less spending.
Frances McDormand actually was the voice on the phone.
I don’t know bird calls either
Even Money Train was Soo boring I turned it off after 10 mins of fast-forwarding.
I already know that a movie is not doing well when it's in my YT feed.
Slow as feck! Poor dialogue. Couldn’t even finish the movie it was so bad.
spoilers: hollywood troupe of follow-the-lead im amazed they didnt teach this in film class but wolverinenitebitchkraven same w furiosaborerlandsdune2 they wil tie something to another movie for attraction effect. btw i havent seen this wolf movie yet
All the Apple phone sales making the higher ups feeling like money bags. Had that feeling once ordering prescription sunglasses
This video is the wolfs of TH-cam movie reviews
Was Just about to watch this flic..so hope this review is good
Wolfs? Hate to be a grammar Nazi but it should be Wolves.
😏 Ok I'm done.
Unpopular opinion: George Clooney and Brad Pitt are, at best, mediocre actors, despite their acting Oscars.
Nar they are good
Man, I wish I could erase my memory of John Carpenter’s The Thing. Then predator & Alien & Aliens. Halloweeniesss month would be complete D;
Watched this on Apple TV last night. Meh. Could've been so much better...but definitely could've been so much worse, I suppose.
Wow a lot of people that have no understanding of cinema and acting.
I completely agree with you
money laundering.
I didn't finish it. I got bored after 45 mins.
You didn't even get that they are probably angels. Typical review by someone that didnt get it. 😂
"They were probably, maybe, sorta, kinda, could be angels. YoU dIDnT GeT iT!!!"
Even if they were, so what? That doesn't make this movie any better. You are the first comment to even suggest this.
I enjoyed it don’t look to much into it it’s a simple fun movie goddamn
Sooo boring. And I’m from the era of their fans. Sorry guys. They should have done like Seinfeld and quit at the top/ok part of their career. The only reason this would seem entertaining is because it’s been such crap for so long.
These streaming only movies, with huge stars in them, with these ridiculous budgets that do not show on screen, must be some sort of a money laundering/accounting trick. The Red Notice on Netflix comes to mind. Had these huge stars, nearly all of them used it to sell their own respective real world products, the CG was absolutely terrible, and the budget was again $200 million. Does that mean each big name star got like 50-60 million per? I mean this movie looks like a good time with one's brain turned off, so I will check it out, but looking at it, there is definitely no way it really cost $200 million.
People are getting wealthy on the budget not the box office.
Great review!
Wasn't really impressed with the preview, and now watching this review, I couldn't possibly care any less about EVER seeing it!
Add in the fact that I absolutely cannot stand Clooney; mainly because of his faux intellectualism and annoying smugness, in concert with the condescending manner in which he spews his leftist nonsense!
thanks for your honest review
Apple + is pretty awful one good show Silo and one good movie the tetris movie that’s it.
Gave up at about 30 mins. Terrible script.
I thought the score sounded ok, on Spotify
what a disappointment of a movie.. if that's what you wanna call it smh
Just discovered your channel thru this review and I’m happy to say you have a new fan / subscriber. I had the same reaction to Wolfs as you. They spent 200 million and ultimately it was just “meh”
It’s all about Apple cultivating a catalog. You know nothing about how Apple operates with a long term mindset
Movie was super mid.
Wine mom movie
watched with my family. Mom asleep halfway through. Brother asleep a bit later. Dad asleep near the end. So boring.
Snoozer
BEST part of this movie was I was able to just change the channel 40 minutes in instead of walking out of the theatre.
Horrible movie and it ended rite when there was a possibility of seeing some action 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Lol ur so funny 😂
For idiots yes
I think the voice is Frances Mc Dormand who worked before with brad and george in "burn after reading" ...
Yup it's on the Wikipedia page 👍
