Magic with the Yogscast: Misread the card and ignore a few lines of text. The Kharasha Foothills enables Duncan to attack Ben, create 2 tokens that are copies of that creature and send them both at Lewis and Tom. The tokens are then exiled at the end step. Basically every creature you attack with is attacking everyone.
Just an fyi, if anyone from Magic is looking at comments, please keep sponsoring these, I just bought my first MTG cards (game night box), and absolutely love it, all because of these videos. This is one of the few times Ads have actually made me buy something I wouldn't have done without the Ad.
Pretty sure that the foothills plane should have worked like the myriad mechanic and had a token attack each other player rather than all at just one other player.
Whenever a creature you control attacks a player, for each other opponent, you may put a token that's a copy of that creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that opponent. Exile those tokens at the beginning of the next end step. Notice, FOR EACH OPPONENT..... ATTACKING THAT OPPONENT.
If I understood lewis correctly on one of the jingle jam streams of today, this video was recorded quite a while ago. It probably pre-dates the video with Mike!
I love that even their drinks say a lot about them: Duncan is drinking an energy drink from a can (I think diet coke), Ben is drinking Peach and Mango flavoured water, Lewis is drinking tea and then there's Tom just drinking a Ribena juice box and honestly it just reminds me of why Tom is my favourite yog
15:08 "If you had like an 8/8 dragon down or something and you attacked, then suddenly you got 5 dragons, that would be pretty spooky." 1 + 3 = 5, seems legit.
They did karasha foothills wrong! “That opponent” refers to the “each other opponent” earlier. How it works is like this: if Duncan attacked Ben with the Ledgewalker, three ledgewalkers would have attacked, one at ben, one at lewis, and one at tom.
Are you sure? It very much sounds like when you attack a player, you get a token attacking that player, for each other opponent in the game. So he attacks Ben, and for each other opponent, Lewis and Tom, he gets a token also attacking Ben.
Marlamin2 absolutely certain. “attacking that opponent” CERTAINLY refers to “each other opponent,” otherwise they would have simply created each token “tapped and attacking.”
How did Ben play a 2G creature when he only had 2 Mountains and a Rage Pit? Hmmmm.... Also Kharasha Foothills makes a copy of your creature to attack all other opponents, they don't all attack the same opponent.
They really need a referee on hand to explain the rules to them. This is what happens when nobody at the table is a veteran of the game. Reminds me of my early days when I thought the combat worked like Yugioh and I used resurrect creature cards to bring instants back to my hand. I was an embarrassment.
Hey, when I first started playing with my brother, we started games with 100 life because we didn't know any better. It took so long to play a single game, and many of them ended with one of us conceding, but we still had fun with it. We would even dress up as makeshift wizards sometimes.
I've been saying it for years, they need some sort of Games Master in almost every game they play. In things like TTT it's not an issue but it has delayed certain series by weeks and it looks pretty bad to get the rules wrong in sponsored content
Allow me to introduce you to a format I like to call "Maximum Chaos": Commander Planechase, 4-Way Archenemy (everyone enacts a Scheme during their Upkeep).
I love how each of them has their own reprentative drink Tom with the juice box Duncan with the aluminum can Ben with the plastic bottle and Lewis with the glass cup
I don't like this attack the person next to you as things like this happen and the strongest guy can only be attacked but someone messing about with his shimmering grotto
I'm pretty sure Lewis was playing a five color deck, which is a bit insane if you haven't even looked at your cards, and was likely unable to cast anything due to not having the right mana.
Anyone else realize that the Protection from Creatures, offered by Spirit Mantle, means that it can't be blocked by Creatures? A spell or non-creature ability could cause Duncan's creature to be blocked, but otherwise nothing else would be able to.
Quite a few rules cock-ups here. The ones I caught: 1. As it's a multiplayer casual game the player going first (Tom here) should draw a card on their first turn. 2. 6:58 Ben is wrong here. You can roll the Planar die (and therefore potentially trigger chaos or planeswalk) as many times as you wish on your turn, provided you can pay the increasing cost to do so (ie. free first roll, 1 mana for the second roll, two mana for the third roll etc.). 3. 12:06 Lewis says that Duncan's creature can't be blocked except by flyers. This is true, but because it was enchanted with "Spirit Mantle" it has protection from creatures, which actually makes it completely unblockable. To clarify; protection from X means can't be damaged, enchanted, blocked or targeted by X. 4. 13:36 The plane card clearly says that those tokens are attacking the other players. So Ben has the original Ledgewalker attacking him, a token would be attacking Lewis, and another token would be attacking Tom. This mistake is repeated when Tom attacks Duncan at 18:30. Tom's tokens would be attacking the other two players.
At 18:00 you cant attack with the insect riding guy as he's cast that turn. Also IF you attack with him and you create tokens, those tokens have the same ability, so it means that every token gives +1/+1 to each other AND +2/+2 to each bird. So you'd end up with, unless I'm doing maths wrong, four 4/4 and four 9/9. Then again they wouldn't all hit Duncan because of the wrong plane reading that everyone already pointed out.
@Games Night umm...when Ben summons the Druid, WHERE did he get a green mana? He only had 2 mountains and a null mana. Unless Green mana is suddenly written and painted as red...
i bought planechase anthology a while back, and it was my best magic purchase. i almost allways play with the planar deck, and i ended up using a number of the cards, even building a thromok commander deck.
actually you can keep rolling the diw. every time you re-roll though it's 1 mana more. so the first is free the second is 1 and third is 2 so on and so forth.
IDK if anyone already said this but Ben is wrong about rolling the plane die, you can roll it however many times u want but it costs one additional mana each time
I thought it was possible to keep rolling after the 2d roll? I thought it just increased in mana cost, like the 1st roll is free, 2nd roll costs one, 3rd cost two, 4th costs three, and so on from there
23:00 you could have played your land that you put into your hand Lewis. The ability that put the land onto the battlefield doesnt count as your turns land play, you can still play a land.
I feel like if either Tom or Ben is wearing a Sharky and Palp shirt, the other must also wear a Sharky and Palp shirt. Actually no, that would be lame.
SOOO FUCKING DOPE! also poor yogs and there inability to read simple rules. they messed up two rules in a row witch somehow managed to balence the game like normal (tom was supposed to draw on this first turn but was not supposed to mill when he triggered the plane effect so he would of had no cards in his yard to get back) but that just equals his to the amount of cards he was supposed to have lol
Let's search for mistakes: - In multiplayer variants first player draws a card. - Planar die rolls are only limited by your mana and sorcery speed (you can do it again and again even if get blank/chaos/pw rolls). - First plane card are only revealed after all player said that they keeping their hands. - Graveyard is open zone, even though Tom didn't care for what card he gets, he must show it to all players (first it goes into the graveyard where everyone can see it, and only after - to Tom's hand). - Kharasha Fotthills clearlly says: "...for each OTHER opponent...attacking THAT opponent..." > in this game you have only THREE OPPONENTS; you can attack and create TWO TOKENS tapped and attacking those TWO OTHER OPPONENTS; you CAN'T force those tokens to ATTACK ONE OPPONENT - only ONE ATTACKING TOKEN PER EACH OF 'OTHER' OPPONENTS. What else...what else...
ONCE AGAIN YOU DO DRAW A CARD ON THE FIRST TURN IN MULTIPLAYER EVEN IF YOU GO FIRST. Also. YOU CAN ROLL THE DIE AT SORCERY SPEED (THAT MEANS MAIN PHASE) Also. READ THE FUCKING CARDS. I'm done. Now to watch the rest of the video, since there's still 30 minutes left of my commute.
It was a good thing they ditched the Foothills before Tom's next turn, otherwise that would've generated 3 copies of the creature that gave +1/+1 to both Blue and Black, thus allowing Tom 'Swamp' Clark to spiral outta control!
Ben forever showing his lack of MtG knowledge and inability to read cards properly... actually scratch that, his general lack of attention to detail haha :D
Was anyone else screaming at their computer while Tom was picking on Duncan? Meanwhile, Lewis and Ben have nothing on the field for the first 4 turns or so? I mean, to me, it would make sense to take out the guy right in front of me with less than half my health pool and 0 creatures on the field? Plus, if you're going to be allies because you're not attacking a certain person, then you should help them as much as possible. Lewis looks damn smug because he just left Duncan to be thrown under the bus. He believes Tom and Ben will go to war afterwards, or he could have used Duncan as a shield long enough to build up his own field. I'd consider it sweet karma if he got obliterated by Tom for leaving Duncan. But he isn't because he's directly in front of Tom, and Tom has decided to go around the table rather than just attacking everyone... Which is the way it *should* be. Duncan will probably be out and disappear next video. In truth, I think Magic should be played as teams. 3 or 4 way duels never work out well for anyone, because inevitably, someone is going to get bombarded over everyone else.
Magic with the Yogscast: Misread the card and ignore a few lines of text.
The Kharasha Foothills enables Duncan to attack Ben, create 2 tokens that are copies of that creature and send them both at Lewis and Tom. The tokens are then exiled at the end step.

I feel so bad for Duncan :(

Pretty sure that the foothills plane should have worked like the myriad mechanic and had a token attack each other player rather than all at just one other player.
Yup, bring one in for each opponent attacking that opponent
Thats how its supposed to work.
Yeah I thought the wording was pretty straightforward and they even read it out so you know they read the whole thing
Also any enter the battlefield effects would trigger. So the B/U artifact birdy would draw more cards.
Notice anyone not invited back (cough cough Mike)
D ban Lewis doesn’t like losing
Veloce Visrin lewis has lost terribly in every magic video they’ve done iirc
If I understood lewis correctly on one of the jingle jam streams of today, this video was recorded quite a while ago. It probably pre-dates the video with Mike!
I think it's more enjoyable to watch them play games I've not played before... at least then I have no idea when they are screwing up so badly.
Schmelvin Melvin Pretty sure Lewis is drinking green tea, looking at that glass tea pot next to his cup.
@@MrStegben oh yeah it would be a bit weird if he was drinking this early lemme fix my comment
diet coke isnt an energy drink lol
@@jake_russ basically the same
15:08 "If you had like an 8/8 dragon down or something and you attacked, then suddenly you got 5 dragons, that would be pretty spooky."
1 + 3 = 5, seems legit.
Ben saying 4 over it as well hahahaha.
even with the massive mistake they made with that card, it would only be 3 dragons.
They did karasha foothills wrong! “That opponent” refers to the “each other opponent” earlier. How it works is like this: if Duncan attacked Ben with the Ledgewalker, three ledgewalkers would have attacked, one at ben, one at lewis, and one at tom.

@@nabollo Fair point. After rereading it from your point of view, I could see it.
I am almost certain the first player gets to draw on his first turn when playing anything else than 1v1
This is true
Multiplayer games always lets the first person draw (anything other than 1v1 or 2hg)
This is correct, in any multiplayer format each player draws a card on their first turn.
This is in fact the case
Yup, that's right
You guys can reroll the dice freely, it costs 1 mana for each time you rolled before in the same turn. So 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 mana and so on.
bring back lewis in a field shouting "THIS IS A SPONSORED VIDEO"
Their knowledge of the rules is the same quality as their warhammer lore
Impeccable!
How did Ben play a 2G creature when he only had 2 Mountains and a Rage Pit? Hmmmm.... Also Kharasha Foothills makes a copy of your creature to attack all other opponents, they don't all attack the same opponent.
Its cus they're casual. We love them anyway
It wouldn't be the Yogscast if they got the rules right.
Next Tom is gonna be like “WOTC, we really wanna do an Alpha draft. So if you can just send us some of that”.
I got so annoyed when they got that rule wrong... Ben even held the card up to his face to read the rules of it and still missed that.
I know, right? They spent so much time reading and talking about it!
Oooh! I love the Planechase rules! So glad you guys are trying them out.
I love how around 21:40 Tom just looks at the camera and shrugs like ‘sure’. This is why Tom’s the best Yogs.
PLEASE play this more, I've always wanted to see plane chase in action and I love watching y'all play it!!
Lewis’ deck in this is like a deck Lewis would make
How long until this one is taken down and the Ribena blurred out?

Book rule nerds
Bruh you’re worried about them not following rules in a casual game 😂. Chill out tryhard rules nazi. They’re in a casual game, not a tournament.
I love how the first few turns are "OK, we need to get the frick outta Nephalia"
Love it! Introduce Friday Night Magic games at yogsHQ!
i remember our group playing Commander Planechase - im just now getting over the nightmares :p

BAM! Magic.
Field of summer, Tom with tormented soul xD
I know how to play the game. However I still don't know how to shuffle.
Where is the shuffle tutorial Ben?!
This game format is amazing LoL
12:14 How is Duncan enchanting his hexproof creature? It's hexproof to his spells too.
Hexproof prevents opponents from casting spells onto the creature, the owner is free to cast spells on it
Shroud is hexproof to all
Hexproof is specific to opponents
i love how well dressed tom is

damn I like this a lot - this plane mechanic is good to me. it's random and very fun
The link in the description for doghouse doesn't work
God I love your magic videos. Small mistakes but fuck it they r still fantastic! More please!
13:50 you dont have tokens on creatures tom. You are thinking of COUNTERS.
Maybe you could also do Archenemy.^^
Slivers on existence
Yessss! This is fantastic!
louis that snakes on a plane joke hurt me please apologize

as an owner of planechase anthology, i support this wholeheartedly!

MAGIC!
You guys really need to get rid of your weird houserule about only attacking in one direction, it's killing the multiplayer feel!
It's a pretty common format, especially in drafts, but I can get not liking it.
I think ben has dyslexia cause he reads it like i do
fuck me planechase is my favorite
I mean, that isn't how myriad works...
Even when tom didnt build his own deck its fucking bullshit
The Yogscast, where the rules are made up and the points don't matter.
Planehoppers
Hnnngggg the misplays are real

Is Ben like, dislectic? Is that why he hates reading stuff in games?
8 is the max hand size yet they say 7 whats up with that
I love these bois but the mechanics of these decks are so out of depth for them
