Nice review of one awesome locomotive. I enjoyed the history of the NYC Dreyfuss J3 Hudson. The paint scheme looks great. Thanks for sharing your new engine and passenger cars with us. Have a great day.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I love this engine. It's right there with the Hiawatha and the Hudson Yellow Belly

Thanks for watching and commenting. I enjoy the collection, but most of all, operating them.

I purchased the entire set myself ,but instead of buying the steam locomotive,I purchased a E 7 diesel A.B.A. from Lionel that had the "Beauty Queen " paint scheme .
I saw the train with these locomotives in a book about the 20th Century Limited ,thus these Beauty Queen e 7 locomotives were used to haul the 1938 version of the train before the 1948 version of the 20th Century was introduced .
These Beauty Queen E 7 locomotives by Lionel paint scheme were a perfect match to the 20th Century Limited passenger cars by Lionel .
The only complaint that I have is about the two sleeping passenger cars .
While the R.P.O. baggage car , the two dinning cars ,and the observation car are prototypical to the original 1938 20th Century Limited passenger cars .Lionel fell short on the two sleeping cars.
First the sleeping cars don't have full skirting as the other three passenger cars have and all of the passenger cars for the 1938 20th Century had full skirting .
They only gave you two sleeping car floor plans, which were a 5 bedrooms/10 romettes and a 4 bedrooms ,4 compartments , 2drawing rooms
After inspecting the two sleeping cars ,I notice that they used to incorrect floor plan for the 5/10 sleeping car.
The prototype 5/10 sleeping car for 1938 had the bedrooms and end of the car and had the roomettes at the other end of the car.
The floor plan that was use for this particular car had all of the bedrooms in the center and the roomettes were split and placed at each end of the car.
These two sleeping cars floor plans came from the 1948 version of Lionel's 1948 Pennsylvania Broadway limited passenger car that they put out a few years ago.
They left out two other sleeping cars that were used on the 1938 20th Century Limited and they were a 17 roomettes and a 13 double bedrooms .
I love the set but I do feel that for a passenger train that is world famous ,Lionel really missed am opportunity to give us a spectacular train set ,especially at that price point .
