    I was at all three Rotterdam. Shows 3 and 4 days before the Brussels show! Spectacular. Had a drink and conversation with Keith and Bill W between the two Sunday shows backstage! I was 16…..

      Oh wow - I never had the opportunity to see the Stones with Mick Taylor. First time was 1975 and I was only 12. I can't imagine - just from all the videos I have and live recordings but wow. That 1973 tour are amongst my all time favorite recordings . And you got to meet Keith and Bill Wyman too. . That's incredible - I love hearing personal stories - thanks so much for sharing.

    Happy for you, Alan. That book is absolutely unique. The photographs are some of the best I have ever seen of the Stones. Beautiful book, Alan! Nice find! Back in 2015 there was a limited-edition Japan only release that coupled Brussels on CD with the From the Vault Marquee gig that is now out of print. You never know, it may turn up "in the wild" one day. I've got an excellent boot of Brussels myself on Moonchild Records, both shows.

      Thanks so much - is that from Ward Music in Japan. I've never seen one of their releases physically here in America - but what I've seen online looks incredible. They seem to be the pre-eminent Stones "re-release" label. If I ever make it to Japan, I'll be on the lookout, though probably very expensive. But wow they do beautiful high quality work - that's for sure.

    Man, Alan that box looks great! What a great find! Makes me sorry I passed it over in 2012, but I’m sure the price tag would have kept me from looking at the details-and by then, I had multiple versions of Brussels Affair, so I figured I had the most important part. I did get the Super Deluxe box of Goats Head Soup, so I figured I was covered.., but that is an awfully sharp looking book.
    I remember the first time I heard those shows (and I have boots with other titles: the “white” sleeve you showed; Bedspring Symphony, All Meat Music, I think?) and was blown away at the fierceness of the band. For all the people who criticized the Stones as being so “sloppy”, I wonder what they would think if they heard this stuff-which hits like a sledgehammer. I’ve not heard many other rock bands come close to that level.
    However I gotta ask since you referenced it in your video-you were 12 years old the first time you saw the Stones? How did that happen? I just wouldn’t imagine many youngsters at a Stones concert in 1975. High schoolers, maybe, but not pre-teens. This was not Kiss. And this was at the Garden? How did you swing that-and what kind of impressions did you have? And what was the Ticketron price back then, $10?

    • @TheAlanRosenbergShow
      @TheAlanRosenbergShow  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks - yea - I've covered this many times in the past. I have an older sister - she's four years older. Had amazing taste in music. From the earliest age, I had a thing for music (I started playing the drums very young). I have photos (in one of my videos somewhere) where I'm playing 45's in diapers - literally - no exageration. Anyway, she had great taste, so from a very young age I started collecting records and had great taste, if I say so myself, because of my sister. By the age of 12 I owned a bunch of Stones albums (GHS was the first I bought when it first came out on the day) and knew most of their songs by heart. My sister, bless her, got tickets to see the Stones twice at the Garden in 1975. She took me to one of them with her boyfriend. I knew every song and had the greatest time. I started really going to concerts with my friends in 1977 (I was 14). The '75 tour had the lotus stage - still my favorite of all time. By the age of 14 my record collection already eclipsed my sisters, but we shared the records. I became known even then as a very knowledgable music kid (I read Creem, Circus, Hit Parader, Rolling Stone a bit) and I still have those magazines. In highschool did a music fanzine and I never stopped - so there you go.. Thanks so much for the question - I really appreciate it.

      That's awesome - many bootleg versions of course Bedspring Symphony, Nasty Music etc. Great to have them though. Funny, but now that I have the imcomplete box, I'm appreciating more having the complete box. I don't have the vinyl from it, and don't need it, but damn I checked out a video and it looks nice...lol. And a poster apparently. Nice.

    Love this video Alan, great to see a bit if exuberance after the underwhelming report on the New Orleans gig cupla days ago. I agree with you on Brussels Affair it is the goat in anybody's collection. You forgot to mention there were 1973 copies released limited to one per person and all personally signed by Sir Mick Jagger ( in fact there is a copy on ebay right now for some reason minus the signature)👌☘️🇮🇪

    • @TheAlanRosenbergShow
      @TheAlanRosenbergShow  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow - I didn't know that. There were copies actually given out back in 1973? The shows were from October 1973. I know King Biscuit started in 1973 but not sure when the Brussels show were first broadcasted. The Stones had them mixed professionally with the idea some of the songs would be released as a live album, with the 2nd side made up of covers - that's where Ain't Too Proud To Beg and Drift Away come from - the album was scrapped. Never heard of a previously released Brussels official Stones release, even limited. Very interesting information. Of course, we all grew up with the bootlegs back then - Bedspring Symphony, Nasty Music and many others from the tapes. Interesting. Thanks for the great information - I need to research this.

      Thanks for the reply Alan, the year it was released was 2012 and nineteen hundred and seventy three were released to signify the year the show was recorded. Often wondered why none of the lucky owners of the Box have done a utube clips on it however it's great to at least seen your video I have all the other versions you've showed. Brussels Affair can't be topped in my opinion. Wondered have you seen FlipsideSteveCT's review of the Goats Head Soup Box set, it's quite a long and thorough review with twenty minutes of part 3 dedicated to the Brussels show. It talks with great enthusiasm about it and that really warms my heart as I said before it can't be praised enough💎🔥🕺🎸🎸🥁🎷🎹👌

    Very cool find! Those look like nice glossy 8x10 pics, very stunning. I like the watch too, even the wide band stands out. For $50 you really did good, the box itself is cool enough to be worth that. I have the Super Deluxe Goat's Head Soup, that album has really grown on me. I used to think of the album as a step down from the prior Mick Taylor albums, but that set really opened my ears. And the Brussels disc helped. I mean Angie, Star Star, 100 Years Ago, I could just list the whole album. So I really dig the album now.
    I think I've seen you mention them in some videos, but do you pick up any of those Uncut Ultimate Music Guides? I just bought the George Harrison and AC/DC editions today, hope to have them by the weekend. They really dive into the artist, review all their albums/songs, lots of old interviews, just really great reads. I have about 30 issues, they have so many out now on a wide range of artists. Great video, look forward to your future scores!

I have so many and read them cover to cover - I have a backlog of about 6 still to get through. Thanks so much again.

      It's probably too late in the game to cause a stir, but they should have released it as a physical media - CD, vinyl back when they did that box. It's truly amongst the greatest live recordings ever. Not sure why they kept it digital except as part of the Brussels Box and the Goats Head Soup super deluxe box. Stand alone CD would've worked nice.
