    Melisa is on point and no one here that is hostile to her can provide an argument that is valid. She is very scientific about how racism works and most of all she is very articulate. What a talent!

    This woman is a natural born storyteller. Melissa Harris Perry is now one of my favorite icons because she voices her opinions and she states facts for the black community. Race choles shaming is a real thing and I'm glad that she is trying to oppose it.

      Insanity is doing something over and over again having the same result. Republican had office time after time and only seemed to make matters worse. The dem presidents have definitely done a great job aka Bill Clinton. You don't know if I've done my hw you just sound like a missed off republican. Like I said, I don't care what you think, I never asked. I just want results and the views MHP shares, I like. Its great that you feel that way and I don't fully trust any politician but if I have to choose one I know who that will be.

    • @jaykerouac2
      @jaykerouac2 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Willa Wonka Harris-Perry isn't a "natural born storyteller".....she's a natural born skull-fucked, communist nutbag.
      And remember....you're children don't belong to you, according to Melitha Harrith-Perry.

    • @WillaWonka
      @WillaWonka 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mikedoesseo like you said about msnbc ..Fox news...even CNN. Its all propaganda...they're all fed stories depending on who feeds the network. We can talk about news networks and politics all day and we'd just go in circles. Lol At the end of the day i t's just news. But regardless of that, this video shows MHP is a talented story teller regardless of what network she works for. She was a professor for years and I can see why. This piece was informational as well as moving. I'm sorry you disagree but I like the message behind it.

      mikedoesseo You must not read the news: Obamacare works www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2014/06/its-time-acknowledge-reality-obamacare-working-pretty-well But to the hard headed, like yourself, you'd rather have millions of Americans without any healthcare coverage, right? Why do you hate America so much?

    Wow.. The negativity that every single white person has commented on this video is hilariously ironic. These comments are so hateful and completely irrelevant to the content of the video. The struggle of the black community is not about finding a job, its about finding equality. Learn how to understand that since you are not black, you will NEVER experience what we have to go through. and if majority of the black people can attest to the same issues that have been occurring for the past 100 years why must it all be a lie or an excuse? It is now, It is our past, it is our present, and at the current rate it will be our future. Learn how to be patient, tolerant, and understanding and I promise you it will help to expand your very limited brain capacity and it'll open endless opportunities.

      naoisha postell Not reading great you a living up to the the stereotype uneducated black thinks everything in whiteys fault wow that is intelligent this is the reason school in black community are war zones because people like you do not want to read they want to be told remember that last time a black community war told what to think welcome to the 21 century plantation however you are choosing to stay because you don't want to educate yourself so good luck remember this white person whos family paid a price for your freedom (if you are from a black slave linage) has once again tried to free to from your chains of a lack of education and you refused

    The term Black/Negro was not originally classified as being
    a race but was rather christian slang referring to a person,
    place or thing as being dead. It became classified as a race
    later on but it's actually meant to be an insult.

    Agree. Chiming in as a British & black professional in Britain, sometimes people are almost disappointed or surprised that you aren't all those negative labels as listed above. Interesting parallels with an African American woman's experience, which I won't presume to understand as I'm Nigerian by birth. It's getting better fslowly or the younger generation, from what I see.

    It's seem like Black women are not taken seriously and as a mature educated person. And this strong Black woman concept is used by a lot of people as a way to use this to block advancements of Black women when we try to succeed at things in life. I'm not a loud Black women, I don't have any children, I'm not on food stamps, I'm not from the ghetto and I'm finishing up my degree. And I still get people treating me negatively and thinking I don't have anything going for me. That's so unfair.

    By the way, if you like Melissa then also check out clips on Angela Y. Davis and MIchelle Alexander. Angela Y. Davis...I mean, speaking of an AWESOME Black woman, she's the one. She spoke on my campus last year, and I'm reading some of her books. And if benighted whites like ColoradoTea think's that Obama or Mellissa are "militant" or "Marxist," then (to quote their hero Ron Reagan) "you ain't seen nothing yet."
    Especially look at "BlackPower Mixtape" or "Free Angela and All Political Prisoners."

    • @amnagermanottariaz9995
      @amnagermanottariaz9995 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm reading Melissa's book at the moment, really insightful. Although I'm not a massive fan of her method of aligning citizenship and African-American women's experience (although it is a great idea). But I think that is a very American 'thing', since nationalism and citizenship is so overtly important in American popular culture, well nationalism mostly.

    I understand your point and I'm don't feel attacked. No, I haven't been to all parts of Africa, mainly Western and Southern. I don't consider Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Sudan or any other Northern or North Eastern part of Africa as where most would consider "black". There are light skinned blacks in these locations, but they are mixed. If you visit countries in Africa where majority of the "slaves" in the US came from you're mainly talking western and southern Africa. That's all I'm saying.

    That's what's up. I love all my sisters and brothers regardless of size (or color) but Americans in general need to really step their game up so far as physical fitness and eating properly. We have to lead by example, so you keep hitting that gym up and keep encouraging your friends to come with you. Don't be afraid to be that guy that brings the fresh fruit or garden salad to the office potluck.

    yes but irish & polish benefitted from being white when only white males were eligible to become citizens. in other words an irish man in America 2 years could become a citizen while a black man in America for 200 years was considered dirt. over time that has an effect- in terms of wealth accumulation, political power & other things

    Every. Damn. Time. Can an attractive woman speak on a serious topic EVER, without men making a comment about her fuck-a-bility?
    *Sigh*

    Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Just because you had a rough childhood does not mean that you cannot make something out of yourself and spread love, knowledge, and acceptance.

    what about biracial dark skinned women? I've seen plenty. Which one is more mixed? the one with white racial mixture 10 generations black? or the one with dark skin kinky hair but with a white parent?

    Fantastic, articulate, insightful! I do wish you had given credit to Patricia Hill-Collins and Hazel Carby for the ideas you used from "Mammies, Matriarchs and Controlling Images" and "Reconstructing Womanhood."

    Awesome reflection on cognitive psychology especially relative to the "crooked room" analogy. I have to get the book.

    Thanks MHP, I recognise the "The Crooked Room" and I wouldn't even say I'm a feminist.
