OMG! I FOUND IT!! THIS TAPE/CD WAS PLAYED ALL DAY WHILE WE SET UP FOR HALLOWEEN. I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FIR IT FOR YEARS ON HERE. TONIGHT IS HALLOWEEN & I FINALLY FOUND IT 🥰
My father would play this LOUD every Halloween through the speakers in the windows of our house so the trick or treaters could here it all-night long. We had a long dark driveway with big trees on both sides and it would scare the shit out of all the kids! It scared a lot of kids away. They would stand at the end of the driveway and just listen and watch our house in fear!👺😂
This has been our go to haunted house sound track for 30 years now. I started working in haunted houses as a monster at the age of 5 and this soundtrack used to scare the absolute SHIT out of me even though I was very much aware that it was all make believe, knew all the ins and out of the gags, and helped my dad and uncles build the sets and props from the ground up 😂. We always cued it up to start blasting it the moment the the sun started to set on Halloween and that's when the entire neighborhood knew it was time to line up. 🎃
When I was a kid I had this very tale on cassette tape. The other side was A NIGHT IN A HAUNTED HOUSE ,which was my favorite side/story!...I know them both by heart!!!
Love this remember my dad bringing this home on cassette from save on drugs store in Southern California. I remember the cardboard packaging it came in and artwork. Also my copy was the white cassette not the black colored one This is by far the best scary sound Halloween album ever. The narrator makes this tape great and how he guides you along. U could a movie out of this its so good. Must find out who the narrator was
There is another Halloween CD out with this narrator. It has The Headless Horseman in the title or sleepy hollow, and features a couple stories and some songs he raps with a witch voice. lol
Among many cd's I have trashed over the years I still own the original of this because its so iconic to my childhood. Thank you for digitizing it (becasue I dont have a cd burner anymore >_
"...is there?" - Narrator My best friend in 1987-1988 introduced me to this cassette, which was black with white font. He used to scare his little sister with this tape, and told me all the stories. Heartbeats used to (kinda do still) give me the creeps, and I told him about it. I remember during the first act of this when the heartbeats could be heard, he reached out and grabbed me suddenly on the arm. I hollered and he just laughed. Good times and good memories!
This is easily the very best of Halloween soundtracks. This was my favorite side as a kid (the other side being Night in a Haunted House) because it felt like you were on an adventure with the narrator. I’d imagine lighting the lamp…and it was on. I’d listen to it all year long until the tape broke. I have the CD now.
I used to buy any Halloween tape I could get my hands on! And it saddened me over the years to see less and less... love that most anything can be found here though.
I love this!!! As a kid my family thought I was weird for listening to this all year long on my Walkman. I've embraced my weird as an adult lol . Thank you for putting this up! Headphones on and off to sleep...
Hahaha! Hell yeah. I did the same thing. I had the black cassette with “a night in a haunted house” on the other side (that was my fav side actually). Stay weird fam.
It sucks that less and less people are celebrating Halloween anymore. Back in the old days, it was golden. Now, it’s just blank, at least where I’m from. This time of the year is legend, I love Halloween.
Well come to Allentown Pennsylvania. Here the people Celebrate Halloween. We love it ! Everybody decorates and the trick or treat nights are awesome.Even alot of neighbors make homemade haunted houses and scare the trick or treaters.👍🏻🙂
If you walk through Witches Wood, past the hanging tree. Then down Deadmans Lane.Over the wooden footbridge, past Creepy Hollow. You will come to an ancient graveyard...I know both tales by heart because like you I used to listen to them all year long in creepy places!
My cousin had a copy of this on LP back in 88. It has been a halloween tradition since. sometimes on stormy nights in the summer, turned down a little low.
I have always liked Haunted Houses and stories/movies/shows about Ghosts and the Paranormal. I have never heard this before!! Sounds really good and really creepy!! I have a few paranormal stories to share. My Mom passed away May 21, 2012. Almost a year after her death, my youngest daughter saw her spirit/ghost. My sister was at college (this was in the late 80's), and she heard someone running in the hallway. These hallways were narrow and sounds would echo loudly. When she heard the running, she opened her door, and the sound immediately stopped. Her dorm room was next to another dorm room with a bathroom in between the rooms. She was trying to go to sleep, and she heard loud talking and laughing in the other dorm room. So she got up and walked through the bathroom to open the door to the other room. As soon as she put her hand on the door handle, the voices stopped. She opened the door and turned on the light. The room was empty.....no furniture and no people. She felt a cold chill run down her back and her hair on her arms and her neck were standing up. She was in a storage room across from her dorm room and she said she never liked going in there. Towards the back of the room she would always feel a 'not so pleasant' presence. Needless to say, she didn't go in there very often unless she absolutely had to. My Mother's Dad passed away back in the late '80's. She was home by herself sitting on the couch reading a book. She heard her Dad call her name and she answered the voice. When she realized what had happened, she got up and searched the house for the voice. She never found the source of the voice. I lived in a house from 2005-2014. I saw the spirit of a man who was the previous owner, in that house. My youngest daughter also saw him, and she said that he looked angry and mad. She said 'he doesn't want us living in his house.....he wants us to move out'. When I was a teenager (long time ago), I played a game with some friends. The game was called "Light as a feather, Stiff as a board." And.....yeah......some creepy stuff happened. We levitated someone's body off of the floor. Last story....... When I was in high school, my Mom and I were waiting for Dad to pick us up. My Mom was a secretary at this school and she was working in the office. The typing stopped and I heard my Mom calling for me. I went into the office and she asked me, "Do you hear that?" I said, "Hear what?" She said, "Those voices......I hear people talking. You don't hear that?" We were the only 2 people in that entire building!!! Sorry for my 'book'. Have a good day and stay safe!
I tried to find this graveyard, using the directions the narrator gave me. But I just ended up finding a homeless guy that kind of looked like a werewolf, but he asked me if I had a dollar and an extra shoelace. Had to wait til morning to find my way out. Nice guy, I wonder if he knows where I left my wallet and phone though.
Track Listing: A Night In A Graveyard 1 Entering The Graveyard 2 Be Careful Where You Tread 3 The Gathering Storm 4 Vampire Mausoleum 5 Witches Coven 6 Procession Of The Undead 7 Dangerous Bridge
So we wanted a Halloween sound effects tape to play to freak kids out. Our dad brought this home- the other side is the Haunted House. I ended up liking this more than just effects. And yes, I’d listen to the cassette all through the year. Pretending I was going along on the tour. 🤣🤣
I have both Night In A Graveyard & Night In A Haunted House on a CD and I recognize the same narrator from The Headless Horseman CD that I have! They are both good stories to listen to, even around Halloween!!! BOO!!! 👻🎃🖤
My mom bought me this cassette tape at rite aid when I was like eight and I listened to it for years before the tape went missing. They seriously don't make these types of halloween audios anymore. They don't tell good stories, they just have eighty five different versions of the monster mash :(
I've not heard many Halloween albums that can give me a real sense of fear, this one does. I haven't had this feeling since I watched The Exorcist for the 1st time.. But I have to say, all the screaming gave me a headache.
This is our go to haunted house sound track. I've scared the shit out of so many people to this. Apparently the disc is really rare. About 5 years it was about $80.00 used.
This Recording here and A night in a Haunted House, are among my favorite in Halloween recordings because it is like being told a Story over Sound effects.
I am really curious about the production behind this. Even today there is no information, and I am very curious about who recorded it, and who the narrator is. I've held my own image of what he looked like for so long, and I bet I'd be surprised if I ever saw who he is.
I feel that way about the narrator in Spooky Tales and Scary Sounds. I hope that guy has had a good career, because he really deserves it. His voice and the words he reads makes the album sound like high art for a Halloween spooky sounds CD. Why don't they credit these guys?
"A Night in a Haunted House" would be just as effective at scaring the crap out of trick or treaters. Orson Welles original radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds" on Sunday, October 30, 1938 scared millions of people out of their minds. One hell of a Halloween prank, wouldn't you agree?
My dad and I would chant along, "I must have some blood to drink; I must have some flesh to eat." Coolest dad ever. R.I.P. dad on this Holy Evening.
I have this on cassette and cd. I played it on my boombox during Halloween every year for my kids. We had the best scary house for Halloween.
I play this cassette every Halloween since the 80s for trick or treaters

They got one scream and they use it LIBERALLY. I loved this thing as a kid.
That is the only downside of this recording.

Top marks, haha.
That's so cool.Wow , what a way to experience Halloween at its best ! 👍🏻🙂

Thank you so much. Had this tape in the 80's. Remember it well. Awesome!
When I was small, I wanted to make a theme park with a Haunted House...This was the audio that I wanted on the ride. I love this recording.
Me too bro . My parents had this on cassette . Then I got it on cd

They dont make 'em like this anymore. Literally. No Halloween albums anymore except the same 10 novelty songs repackaged again and again.
SpreadingtheMuse great sound effects and tells a story, without having to hear monster mash
I hear that. I am tired of Monster Mash.
We are making one right now! - Keep an eye out at 1890 Media - Happy Halloween!
And peddled to an unwitting audience that demands nothing better.
I used to buy any Halloween tape I could get my hands on! And it saddened me over the years to see less and less... love that most anything can be found here though.
