The reason the starter wouldn't work is because the armature gear is too long and hit the cover. Earlier versions had a shorter armature gear.

I have a 2000 busa with upgrade cam tensioner ?with 125000 km on the clock
Obviously, they were having issues with the original so good thing yours is upgraded
Do we know why the other one went kaboom
Not yet... The autopsy will be afterwards, once the bike is rolling again.

Bro, DO NOT reuse the oil cooler. The small metal bits that was contaminated in the old oil is inside that oil cooler. It will contaminate the new oil and damage the new motor. REPLACE THE OIL COOLER. Clean out all the oil hises you are reusing.
