I have tried a lot of chenille yarns and the best one for me is King Cole Yummy. Doesn't shed at all, no problem woth magic ring, no problem with frogging or sewing. Its just perfect for me, and I am completely begginer, no problem to see stoches. For me is best. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 😊
What is this UK cert you refer to? From what I gather, if the yarn doesn't have this certification, you can not sell your amigurumi finished product? 😮
The UKCA certification is what is needed to be able to sell your toys in the UK. You can often find the UKCA logo on many household things and toys you buy from main stores. The European equivalent is CE. Essentially the UKCA & CE are a set of standards a toy must meet in the UK to ensure it’s chemically and structurally safe for children. You will need UKCA or CE certification for anything that has “play value” i. e. something a child could see as a toy even if it’s not (a good example is doorstops!). For amigurumi/plushies to be sold in the UK, they must meet the UKCA standards for soft toys and one of the main standards is that the yarn/fabric that they’re made of is chemically safe. When I talk about a yarn having the relevant UKCA certificates, it means it has evidence that it is chemically safe and fire retardant. If you are looking to sell your plushies in the UK, I would highly advise joining a UKCA & CE group on Facebook as they often have lots of detailed guides on how to navigate the UKCA or CE process. I wouldn’t be able to explain the process in a comment as it has a lot of different elements to it, but I’d advise starting with one of those groups to understand the basics, then feel free to ask any questions 💕
Thank you so much for sharing this and the Google docs sheet is amazing! It’s just what I’ve been wanting as I’ve been looking to try out some different chenille yarns as my love for Bernat yarns has proven quite costly but I haven’t found anything that comes close to it quality wise
