YAAAASSSSSSSS! I was literally telling my niece earlier today that I gravitate towards obnoxiously bright colors or muted/vintage colors. Not much in between. But this is a much better way to explain it!!!

I've been crocheting for about two weeks now, so I'm an absolute newbie. Bernat Blanket is not as soft and comfy as the other yarns, but it's definitely more forgiving for someone learning their stitches and regularly have to frog mistakes.
I completely agree. I’m a newbie to crocheting and my tension is too tight and I had been working with Bernat blanket and I had no issues but my fingers did hurt a little after I finished my project. I decided to try the Loops & Threads home and I wasn’t able to do a magic ring because it kept breaking (probably due to my tension) which was very frustrating and discouraging to me 😢
Bernat Blanket recently revamped some of their colors so they do feel better than before the redesign. I would avoid bernat blanket brights as they are still in the rough formulation.
@@idaliahernandez1824 with the chennile yarns like the ones by loops and threads try making the stitches going into the magic circle looser so the closing thread has more space to close preventing the bald spots that make it difficult to close the magic circle.
@idaliahernandez1824 omg I had the SAME exact problem. I made a bunny out of Bernat blanket for my first project, and then when I tried to make a second bunny out of Loops and threads chenille I was so frustrated why I couldn't do a magic ring! A quick Google search taught me the difference when it comes to chenille yarn. I got lucky I chose Bernat for my first yarn because I can't tell you how many times I frogged that rabbit 😅
I don't think you understand how much I've needed this lately! I've been wanting to make something out of such yarns and I know there are so many brands and styles that people are brand loyal to, specifically amigurumi artists, and I had to just make an executive decision to order one but I'm curious about others!
that being said, I put in an order for some premier parfait chunky the other day! I'm so anxious to get them! Ordered Peacock and Lagoon to make a couple pillows!
I’ve eyed the Big Twist Posh so many times at my Joann’s and you’ve convinced me to buy some next time I’m in 🤗 the stitch definition is amazing like you said, I am thinking of soooo many things to make now 😅
I love the white. It’s soooo soft. The colors are a bit thicker and a bit stiff for my liking. JoAnns is discontinuing it as it was only a limited run, so if you like it, and find it in store, BUY IT ALL!
One not mentioned here is Premier Basix Chenille.....I have been loving it! It's a little more of a flat yarn and makes your stitches look a bit more textured!
Tyfs! I feel like people either like or dislike Bernat blanket 😂 I personally enjoy it. I love that it has a rougher texture since it doesn’t slide off my hands as much. I feel like it’s not as slippery and I greatly prefer it for amigurumi for aggressively toy loving children
I can't stand the shine of velvet yarns either! I think with amigurumi it takes away from the crispness of the stitches and design, and makes the overall piece less defined, probably because of all the differing shines and shadows. My stitches always look kind of "flawed" with velvet, even if they're perfectly done. I used Bernat Velvet once for an amigurumi project and I'll never work with it again. Also made my project feel too "flimsy".
i definitely know where you're coming from with the pain of working with Bernat Blanket. it feels like it wants to stick to itself and i have to really yank on it through stitches, leaving my wrist/hand sore after a while. I've also worked with the skinny chenille yarn from Michael's. I don't do 3d stuff like plushies, but i love making shawls and blankets with it!
I love Bernat blanket! ❤ I admit that the regular blanket yarn can be rough at times, but have you tried the bernat baby blanket yarn? It is super soft and easy to work with, almost like the sweet snuggles yarns
As someone who started crocheting with Bernat velvet and still uses mostly velvet yarns, definitely try Premier retro velvet!! I like the look of chenille yarn way better than velvet, but I stick with velvet because it’s cheaper. Premier retro velvet is wayyyyy less shiny than bernat, it’s my go to yarn now!
I use the bloom yarns and I absolutely love them and all the colors. I’ve made some floral hens with the bloom yarn and Oooooo they are so cute. I love your channel and all the reviews of different yarns…also I have a blue heeler named Bruce!
I'm so excited you did this video! I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't really a fan of bernat blanket. It's just not the softest and easiest to use for me personally. (it's also expensive) I'm on the east coast and hobbii takes about 5-7 days to get to me. Which isn't bad, but I will stock up when I order to get free shipping. I rather like their honey bunny/baby snuggle which I think is very similar to parfait chunky. I'll even use them interchangeably. Have you tried premiere little bunny? It's a really fluffy yarn. You can't see your stitches (so not for beginners) but it makes a really fluffy cuddly plushie!
Thank-you so much for this review. I love Bernat Velvet. When I use it, I have a really good time crocheting. And sometimes I just want a slightly smaller finished product, so this works up perfectly. I also totally agree with your Bernat Blanket yarn review. I do NOT enjoy using it either. I have all the colors of POSH, but have yet to try it. Now I am motivated to pull them out for my next project. And YES! Premier Parfait Chunky is great and has soooo many color options!
I ordered 2 colorways of Chenille Baby Light and 1 colorway of Suede Chenille from Ice Yarns at the end of January, and used them to crochet a Season 18 Doctor Who scarf. Both yarns are ranked as CYCA "3" DK yarns; however, the Chenille Baby Light worked well single-stranded in the worsted-weight pattern I was following, while I had to double-strand the Suede Chenille to reach a worsted-weight equivalent.
No need to apologize for Bernat! I feel the same. I made some adorable mushrooms too and I love them! BUT I dread the making process, lol. Agree with you wholeheartedly about Parfait Chunky. I don't think there's a better one out there - it's perfection!
I like how it took me so long to realize that “I’m hooked” through a “real cro-shame” are not just really punny yarn brands and are in fact your scale you’re rating them on. Insert face palm here ___
I just tried using L&T Sweet Snuggles Lite today and it is so soft and lovely to work with (minus the shedding but we just accept that chenille sheds). If I had the patience I'd make a blanket out of it.
I'm used to using both Bernat Blanket and Bernat Baby Blanket, but it probably makes a difference that I only crochet blankets with those yarns, and therefore needn't work at as tight a gauge as you do for amigurumi.
Hi! New sub. I'm loving your amigirumi designs! I purchased Monty the Moth, and I can't wait to try it! I'm still a beginner at amigurumi, and I'm still trying to find the perfect yarn for me. So far, I love the loops and threads chunky . I had some Bernat blanket in my stash, and I agree, it is very hard on my hands. I also find it to be very stiff and heavy. I don't really even like it for blankets either. I think it's more suited for household items like rugs or pillow covers personally. Loving your videos and im looking forward to more from you!! ❤
I agree with all your choices except for Parfait Chunky. I just don't feel the quality is anywhere near as good as Michaels Chenille Home slim or Sweet Snuggles Lite. The color choices are much better, that I agree, but trying to frog parfait chunky out is a nightmare for me and I prefer the size of the items I get when using Michaels yarn .Enjoyed the video.... Have you tried Michaels Dreamland yarn? I just ordered some and I'm anxious to try it....
I find that there are two types of Bernat Blanket yarn. There is the older version that is stiff and ‘sticky’ for lack of a better word. It’s horrid to work with. Then you have the newer version that is soft and snuggly and very nice to work with! It’s one that I have to feel before I buy, but love making soft loveys with it.
I always love seeing videos comparing the different chenilles. I’ve only tried premier Just Chenille and lion brand’s Naptime chenille yarn. Just chenille sheds a lot but it’s great for medium size amigurumi but I love Lionbrand’s Naptime because it doesn’t shed but it is a size 4 and they only have a few colors. I love making loveys with it though.
I'm a beginner but I ordered premier chunky because of Genna, I also ordered bloom chunky in the colour tulip and I LOVE it, however.. Even though it says it's a 6 it's definitely a bit bigger. I made a frog pattern (by yarn society here on TH-cam) with the regular parfait chunky and the bloom chunky same hook size (5) and the bloom definitely came out a bit bigger. That being said, the bloom is a solid 10/10 for me! I'd love for you to try is and see what you think! I originally looked up this video to see if I wanted to try anything other than premier or bernat blanket so thank you for this list 🖤
My favorite chenille yarn that I’ve tried is YarnBee Adore-A-Ball Flannel (even though it’s not really flannel) It’s like Premiere Parfait but I’d say it’s stronger and softer!
I'm very new, but my first two months have been VERY prolific. I've mostly been working with Bernat blanket and i actually really love it. It's not as lovely and soft as the fluffy chenille yarns but it's just so much more forgiving and it's still a way nicer hand feel than anything worsted.. The various loops and threads chenille I've tried are just so ridiculously sheddy and break so easy that I find them super frustrating to work with. I've been interested in trying the parfait chunky but I've been so unimpressed by the L&T chenilles I was hesitant. I actually hate working with the bernat velvet, maybe its a I should try again as my skill grows thing, because i love the feel of it, i couls happily just sit and pet a skein, but it is just so floppy and so slippery, and everything I've made with it has turned out sort of wonky and misshapen with ends that are forever wiggling out and dangling no mater how thoroughly I weave them in again, I want to love it but i just don't, I'm planning to try a hat or something next, see if I just can't get along with it for amigarumi
Thanks for doing this review. I've been a strict Himalaya Dolphin Baby user for all of my amigurumi which I get from an Etsy seller, so supporting small business at the same time. But it is just getting so expensive. I've been wanting to try some other brands that are closer to home, and I just happen to have a local Michaels and Joann's that are less than a mile apart. Guess I'll be going shopping!
Sadly Big Twist Posh is being discontinued 😞 As of writing this, only the color black is available online. Maybe they will send whatever they have left to remaining stores! My store had none in stock 😒
What would you say is the softest yarn to touch once the project is done? I want to make a big panda plushie to use as a pillow but I’m not sure which brand is the softest
Bernat blanket is so hyped by many people but I also am not a fan. I had leftover of black and white and used it for the hands/feet of a lovey I made and it worked out fine but I didn't like how it felt while working with it. And it worked up much fatter than the Parfait Chunky In Bloom I used for the body. Turned out cute but also just learned I'm not a fan of it. I really want to try those thinner chenille/velvet yarns tho! Got me intrigued a bit 😂
I love premier parfait chunky yarn as well. So many colors, but I noticed that some has inconsistency I guess the way they made and manufactured. Every time I ordered the 2nd, 3rd time of the same color it feels like I got ripped off. Very frustrating cos, it shreds so much. I don't know if anyone has the same problem. There is only one store here in NZ selling that and plus there's not much selection of yarn in here when it comes to chunky chenille.
Big Twist Posh yarn is out of stock at Joann's in the store and on line. They have a new chenille yarn called Big Twist Baby Bear. Has anyone tried this yarn yet?
the only chenille yarn I have used is bernat blanket for a blanket and I am making a blanket out of lion brand chenille appeal right now my only con is that the darker colors it is hard to see your stitches and it doesn't have that many colors
Do you know how premier just chenille compares to premier parfait chunky? I got some to try and I feel like it sheds to bare pretty easily so I’m afraid I won’t like parfait chunky
I just wanted to suggest something to you about your ranking system: If you are going to rank yarns and items, you should only include the ones YOU ACTUALLY HAVE USED. You put Premier Bloom Chenille into your rankings, but you have not used it 🧐 Therefore it very well could have been ranked higher or lower JUSTLY since you would have had it in your hands and put it through the wringer. By adding it, without you laying hands on it, your ranking of “ There’s Cro-tential” can actually have a negative effect and gives viewers the wrong idea about a yarn you didn’t use. This would be like me saying “I love a jumbo 7 chenille yarn!” but I have never used ANY jumbo 7 yarn, chenille or otherwise 🤷🏽♀️ When we decide to put items or yarn or anything into a list to be ranked, the list must be based in truth: I used Bernat Baby Sport. It is a 3 weight yarn and there is nothing baby about it. It isn’t soft during use, and though it will soften in the wash, I don’t feel like the struggle of detangling that very messed up middle of the skein makes it worth my time again. I’m giving Bernat Baby Sport a ranking of It’s a Cro-shame.
The bloom chenille is not good for frogging! It got stuck on itself and would stretch the plush fibers from the center strand showing a gap. Super soft and super cute though
I watched a video by “hooked by robin” said she used “ice yarns” does anyone know if it’s a good brand is and if it’s affordable? I want to get into crocheting and my first project is going to be a blanket with chenille yarn and I have no idea what is a good price and what isn’t.
I dont like shiny ones too it looks so cheap an ugky to me, but dont know. I also dont like the ones that are too flufy like hair sticking out everywhere like some wool socks that are so fuzzy. I just like smooth ones like the bamboo celulose stuff that feels just so nice.
This is so unfair, you have so many options in the US for chenille yarn, we only have a few options unless we're willing to pay big bucks for shipping in the UK. I have to use James Brett, Flutterby or Huggable, King Cole Yummy or Super Yummy, Rico Chennillove, Cygnet Scrumpalicious and Jelly Baby and colours are so limited. xxx
Is there a reason Hobby Lobby’s chenille yarns do not get included in your rankings (and many others’ rankings)? I want to compare their yarnbee cozy occasions to other brands, but I rarely see anyone include products from Hobby Lobby.
This is a completely personal thing but I think it many don't cover it because the yardage to cost is usually way higher than what can be found at Michaels or Joanns, totally have no idea if that's true! I had just noticed it for the first time myself a few weeks ago, hobby lobby had seemed like they great prices on the fluffier yarn until I saw it was half or less than half of the yardage I would get for a plush yarn at Joanns, I would have had to end up paying more at times at hobby to equal the same amount I would get from one skein of the other brands. Especially with as often as I am given coupons or am able to find sales/Doorbusters at one of the other stores it tends to turn me away from hobby lobby all together. I'm not sure if that's helpful but that's something that comes to mind!
am I the only one who doesn't get the hype of premier, I ordered a skein and I was very unimpressed I love sweet snuggles lite/chenille home slim wayyy better. I feel like im missing out on something 😭
Velvet > Chenille Sorry! I just love velvet so much more. Premier Retro Velvet is really good as well as this random Amazon brand called Lunarm. I do really like Parfait and Big Twist Posh but velvet has my heart. 😂
I would love a premier parfait chunky, gumdrop, and pixie dust brights review from you!! I haven't tried any of premier yarns yet, but I'm debating making an order 👀
Hi annie I have a huuge request can you make something for " haq al laila" so this is a celebration muslim people celebrate and it is the exact opposite of of Halloween but we don't do trick or treating we knock on people's doors and sing for them this in arabic ( عطونا الله يعطيكم بيت مكة يوديكم عطونا من حق الله يخلي لكم عبدالله ) we do this as a tradition so please translate it , search it , crochet it. thank you ❤❤
“Some days I’m a neutral girly and other days I’m just a Lisa Frank girly” 👏👏👏 yes! Same! 😂🤍
very this! I'm neutral all the way or Barbie pink. No in-between!
YAAAASSSSSSSS! I was literally telling my niece earlier today that I gravitate towards obnoxiously bright colors or muted/vintage colors. Not much in between. But this is a much better way to explain it!!!
yass!!
Loops &Threads, I just purchased today (chenille home slim). It's falling apart easily. I can't make a magic ring, the yarn hangs up when you try and cinch. It's so soft and smooth. I don't know why it hangs up. If you tug on the normal side, it starts breaking apart 😢

So helpful! I just got back into crochet and ordered a bunch of parfet chunky. There's so much out there, but it seems consistently a win.

i absolutely love the look and feel of velvet yarn and bernat velvet is definitely in my top three
Big Twist Posh has been one of my favorites to work with, it works really well with Parfait Chunky
I'm used to using both Bernat Blanket and Bernat Baby Blanket, but it probably makes a difference that I only crochet blankets with those yarns, and therefore needn't work at as tight a gauge as you do for amigurumi.
I loves this vlog so much! You SLAY always - Thanks for the vlog!
I love this video it was so helpful! I’m just getting into amigurumi! Does the Premier Parfait Chunky shed a lot?

Just learning Amiguruni. Thx so much for the review. I needed the knowledge!!!💕
I have a skein of bloom chenille sitting in my stash to try. I couldn’t resist ordering it to try with my last yarn purchase.

Just got some James C Brett Flutterby today. It’s dapples and I would like suggestions on what to make
Love Bernat blanket. Great colors. Super soft. Great value. Love the video though. Lots of great information.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. Reviewing yarns you have not tried.
Have you tried Himalayan Dolphin baby yarn or premier basix chenille brights??
I LOVE the basix chenille brights!!
Thanks for doing this review. I've been a strict Himalaya Dolphin Baby user for all of my amigurumi which I get from an Etsy seller, so supporting small business at the same time. Thank god that’s your favourite cause I bought a heap this morning off a Australian site
Where can you get big twist posh or premiere parfait chunky from in Canada?
Big Twist Posh yarn is out of stock at Joann's in the store and on line. They have a new chenille yarn called Big Twist Baby Bear. Has anyone tried this yarn yet?
Love it! I am hooked on sweet snuggles 😂
the only chenille yarn I have used is bernat blanket for a blanket and I am making a blanket out of lion brand chenille appeal right now my only con is that the darker colors it is hard to see your stitches and it doesn't have that many colors

if you haven’t already can you do a video about the difference if yarns?
what do you think about "little bunny yarn"
I just wanted to suggest something to you about your ranking system:
If you are going to rank yarns and items, you should only include the ones YOU ACTUALLY HAVE USED.
Agreed
Yes I loooooooove parfait chunky
I'm making a dino snuggly with dollar tree chenille and I gotta say its way better than it has to be. And soooo soft.
I do not like Bernat blanket but I kinda like Bernat baby blanket yarn
It is literally the exact same yarn! The “baby” refers to the colorway which is different than regular blanket yarn.
@@minini5571 oh well then there is a different one that is softer idk I am not into Bernat yarn but thanks
Baby feels softer and maybe a little lighter to me. I also like it more than the regular
@@alyssahougham6626 YES that’s what I mean
oh and one last thing please do it today because its on saturday and I really need your help for some decorations. love you❤❤
aw disappointed you dont like bernat blanket b/c i LOVE it :)
I want to get into crocheting and my first project is going to be a blanket with chenille yarn and I have no idea what is a good price and what isn’t.
and 3 months later its impossible to get big twist posh....even online. ugh.....
I wish Premier Parfait Chunky was easier to get hold of and cheaper her in the UK. In fact chenille yarn in general is a pain to get hold of here
I dont like shiny ones too it looks so cheap an ugky to me, but dont know. I also dont like the ones that are too flufy like hair sticking out everywhere like some wool socks that are so fuzzy. I just like smooth ones like the bamboo celulose stuff that feels just so nice.
I don't understand a word. Good that I can guess the final result from a print screen. The labels are not easy to read on the video.
Just sub to you and thanks for the great review 😊
This is so unfair, you have so many options in the US for chenille yarn, we only have a few options unless we're willing to pay big bucks for shipping in the UK.
I have to use James Brett, Flutterby or Huggable,
King Cole Yummy or Super Yummy,
Rico Chennillove,
Cygnet Scrumpalicious and Jelly Baby
and colours are so limited.
xxx
Omg the toad booty. 🤣🤣🤣
Final category should be "Knot great." Boom. lol
Hahaha I love that!
@@tallyrephens5588 thank you for responding. I appreciate your answer
am I the only one who doesn't get the hype of premier, I ordered a skein and I was very unimpressed I love sweet snuggles lite/chenille home slim wayyy better. I feel like im missing out on something 😭
Premier bloom is not my fave. Love how soft and beautiful it is. But it sheds so bad and it rips a lot:(
Velvet > Chenille Sorry!
Hi annie I have a huuge request can you make something for " haq al laila" so this is a celebration muslim people celebrate and it is the exact opposite of of Halloween but we don't do trick or treating we knock on people's doors and sing for them this in arabic ( عطونا الله يعطيكم بيت مكة يوديكم عطونا من حق الله يخلي لكم عبدالله ) we do this as a tradition so please translate it , search it , crochet it. thank you ❤❤
am i the only one who really doesn’t like parfait chunky bc of how much it sheds??? or is it just me
You’re definitely not the only one! It can be tricky to work with sometimes!
Pov youre european and Michaels and Joannes are not a thing here🥲
