The teachings of Mingyur Rinpoche so profound yet so easy to understand. For years I have been interested in meditation and the whole mechanism behind it: how it influences the mind, how it gives us insight into the working of the mind and how it affects us. For years I wasn't able to find in depth information. But when I stumbled upon Mingyur Rinpoche's videos a new world began to open up to me. It's simply amazing! I really reccomend Mingyur Rinpoche to everyone who is interested in these practices. He's so easy to relate to because he posseses enough of a western spirit but is also an accomplished meditation master which makes him very credible. In a world full of quacks that is really a reassurance. I find myself really willing to listen to his teachings because he has attained all that which he speaks about. I think it can be compared to working out with a personal trainer: if the personal trainer is an unhealthy individual it's hard to take someone like that serious. But if a personal trainer is really fit and healthy then people are more willing to take advice and information.

Beautifully said Laurence. Your comments perfectly match my experience. I finally understood how simple yet profound the act of meditation is. Things have only grown from there, and I watch his videos or listen to his audiobooks at least once a week to keep progressing.

Only 15 comments from the 12 thousand who looked. This man teaches you exactly what all those looking for happiness want. A pity they dont have patience to view him.
What he teaches in these 2 videos is key to connecting with your true nature and realisation that will keep you content for the rest of your life.
Harmful or destructive thoughts have no meaning once you understand the true nature of awareness
    Its amazing really.

    Back to awareness always..
Realisation will come..... happy..no matter... dont mind sad....depression..confusion.... back to awareness.... always back to awareness. Not mindfulness...this is why he never uses mindfulness he evens stops his translator saying mindfulness...mindfulness does not work. Only awareness is the key

When we return to breath as difficult emotions arise, I feel a space, blankness when I do that. I think Mingyur Rinpoche calls it vertical freedom. But, isn't that in a way suppressing that emotion? Especially when you no longer feel the emotion or thought and your awareness just rests in nothing.

One lady asked about non-meditation, I guess she meant just casual mind without awareness, and Rinpoche answer about non-meditation, when we don’t do anything special, but have awareness.
