I really really hope they release the album with Tilian on it but I also get it if they don't. Insane either way to think this may be the last song with him when things seemed to be going in a good direction
Since this came out 5 months ago it’s hard to say when they started this album and or to be able to determine the timeline when tilian was taking time off from them earlier as well. I bet he did more than one, but I bet more than half the new album is minus Tilian.
Dude Andrew becoming a more consistent vocalist in recent projects has been fucking killer. The dynamic of 2 singers that can hit the same notes but sing with totally different styles, ON TOP OF Jon's endless mastery is just phenomenal
RIGHT!~?!?!?!?!? IT BLOWS MY FCKN MIND HOW LITTLE KNOWN THEY ARE WHEN THEY ARE HANDS DOWN THE BEST POST HARDCORE BAND THATS EVER EXISTED DUDE I CAN'T THINK OF A SINGLE BAND THAT MATCHES UP GOD BLESS U DGDDDDDDD
It's always amazed me that DGD is able to put out such high quality material as fast and consistently as they do. They took their time with JJ but other than that there's practically new DGD every year and the way they are able to consistently evolve their sound and push things in a new direction while still staying true to their core is what makes them so great.
It's all literally the same shit lol. None it is "evolving" or whatever. So much of it sounds the same and they can pump out albums every years bc they have a formula.. JJ took longer bc of the scandal. DGD hasn't been good in years..
3:06 - 3:31 is one of my favorite passages in recent DGD, there's just something so earnest and anxious to it and it builds back up into that final chorus so well
Hoping the album they finished will feature him in at least a few songs. Unfortunately a precedent has been set with other bands where the lead singer leaves the band right before an album release and the band re-records with the new vocalist at the last second. I hope that’s not the case.
@@Lavender_Gooms this is what I’m most confused about, I’d like to get this final Tilian album and part of me thinks we will bc of all the Gobby stuff meaning we’re getting something soon, but they genuinely could do anything at this point and that’s both nerve wracking and exciting
@cryism7798 it's a legit thing. A sub genre of post hxc where bands try to imitate will swans playing style. Someone else might be able to explain better tho
Y’all, this shit is insane. If this is a preview to the sound this DGD album will have, consider me so sold. I love the heavier progy- sounds so I’m glad to see those viscerals back after the super refreshing summer vibe sound and absolute earworm vibes of the JJ album
Had the thought today that I'm pretty bummed about Tillian no longer being in the band. This song has one of the best melodies throughout the entire song, and one of the best choruses, that the band has released in years IMO. Tillians raspy singing will surely be missed, but I'm stoked cause DGD always feels at it's best when they're trying to find what works with a new voice.
@crowing3886 it's not sb tho 🤔Why is everyone saying this is heavy dgd? This is just the norm for old school dgd, they're just finally going back to post HxC it seems. (Mothership and before)
@@Tinnsfr you clearly don't listen to secret band then. Tillian sounds very phoned in here an mess is in his secret band vocals at parts. Wouldn't be the first time a sb song became a dgd song. Like how some sianvar songs became dgd songs.
The ending he sang at the end of The Ghost of Billy Royalton was mind-blowing and absolutely ripped my heart out the first time I heard it. It still gets to me occasionally and I've listened to it at least 20-30 times already.
Why is it every time DGD reaches its peak we lose the lead singer? DBM2 was such an amazing album and it left me so much hunger for more Johnny DGD but I was devastated when I heard Johnny wasnt coming back. Im equally devastated about this.
Dgd’s sound is so distinct yet they still pump out songs that feel fresh at the same time. Love it. This song makes me want more secret band stuff though low key
I think this is actually the first fresh thing they've put out since we own the night up to this track feels like it's all could be one album. They got banger every albums but I honestly maybe I'm just getting bored with this saga of dgd
i really appreciate the different production sound. the jackpot juicer, afterburner, artificial selection sound was tired a little bit, and andrews vocals are really the cherry on top
I gotta say I agree. Billy Royalton and this song are the most I've enjoyed DGD since Acceptance Speech/IG. The production, but it also feels like a whole band vibe rather than pushing Tilian as the frontman like the last few albums
I named my son after this band. He originally was supposed to be Damien but after some outcry from my religious family members I chose the second name I thought of. And now Gavin is 3 years old and loves animals and loves tacos. Sorry I know no one cares I'm just proud of my boy.
DGD manages to become more and more insane with each new song/album. Been a fan for 8 years now and they never cease to amaze me. The dynamic of 3 vocalists with andrew now is just incredible, i'm so happy to see him gaining more space as a vocalist, not overshadowing tilian at all. just perfect.
