Especially when people make the mistake of not learning the Kanji with hiragana and kana, which so many Westerns do. Once I finally started actually learning the Kanji the language FINALLY made sense and I progressed much faster. Now I’m just working on sentence structure, conjugation and adjectives still throw me off constantly.

@@GarrettsGear Yes. At the very least what he was accused of is, in his state, legally ‚the r word‘. Tilian in his first acknowledgment of the claim, did not deny the claims made by multiple people he just said that he made mistakes caused by his drinking. To me, it sounded like he was admitting to what happened but blaming it on being an alcoholic. Then after a couple months he said he didn’t do any of that stuff he just had a drinking problem. I’m an alcoholic & don’t drink anymore, haven’t in probably 8 years. My father was. My wife is & stopped 10+ years ago. Tons more in my life have been. Two months doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things & alcohol doesn’t make you do those things. I believe the victims & I would say a majority of the scene does a long with a major chunk of the DGD fanbase. Believe what you want. My son was named after Tilian. I have every reason to be charitable towards him. I hope it didn’t happen but doubt that’s the case very very very much. At least Jonny is openly the worst person he can be lmao

Nah it's not DGD anymore. Without Tillian it's just another mediocre band. Andrew wells is a good singer, but he's a backup/secondary vocalist, not a lead. The two songs they just released is proof.

How can you not be extremely proud of this band? I’ve never seen so much perfectly executed adaptation. These guys get better and better in the face of adversity and major changes. The sound continues evolving yet staying true. Here’s to many more years of DGD.

People on instagram were shitting on Andrew's vocals but they sound fuckin' fantastic and if he wrote those melodies and lyrics then he gets full approval. That first hook he sings in this one is fuckin perfect. I wish the producer would've turned him up more cuz he's kinda blending in with the band, which happens sometimes with heavy music but bring his ass up to the front.
I’m not positive obviously but songs sound like Tillians melodies and arrangements, if I was to guess he wrote these songs. They sound like Tillain songs to me. Andrew did fantastic regardless.

I knew Andrew from Eidola but didn’t know how I felt about him joining DGD. These guys have been one of my favorite bands for almost 20 years and i have no idea why I ever doubted this working. With every vocalist they just continue to get better and better. This is some of the best work they’ve put out in a while in my opinion. Also shout out to Matt, hope you’re doing good man and you look great.
Jon’s ending of speed demon is extraordinary. Absolutely incredible.

The 4th era of DGD has begun... and it's glorious. I had my doubts about Andrew but after hearing these songs I feel silly for ever doubting this band. Every vocalist in this band has been incredible. Jonny, Kurt, Tilian and Andrew all have their own sound and yet the band still feels like DGD. That's fucking impressive. Jon and Will are the glue that binds it all together and I'm here for it forever.

Tillian and Andrew worked so well together with their clean vocals but I dig this from Andrew.
At first, I wasn't really vibing, but I'm glad I came around. This is some of the most thought provoking melodic structures I've heard in the genre for quite some time. Looking forward to whatever comes next for y'all.

The crazy thing about this. This morning , I nostalgically listened to Rock Solid kind of reminiscing over the greatness that is DGD, and he's eating a rock solid chewy bar in this video. DGD is back baby.

I found the band in 2018, just before they dropped Artificial Selection. I still listen to their older songs, like Blue Dream with Jonny Craig is one of my favorite songs of theirs. But the mix of Tilian's angelic vocals together with Jon Mess' chaotic vocal fry, is what made me fall in love with the band, and made them one of my all time favorites. So finding out that Tilian was kicked out, broke my heart..
That being said though, I honestly didn't think I'd still love the band post Tilian. But finding out that Andrew was the new vocalist, gave me hope. I've always loved his vocals in Evaporate (I'd legit play his part over and over), and he's honestly the best choice for a new vocalist they could've chosen! And their new songs still sound like DGD, so my hope and love for the band has been reignited! As much as I will miss Tilian, I look forwards to this new era of DGD.
As a long time Eidola fan its kinda weird seeing Andrew singing lyrics like this as opposed to the more philosophical and religious undertones of his usual lyrics, but it's so fun and I'm all here for it
My best friend died in February. I got him hip to DGD a few years back and you quickly became his (and mine’s) favorite band. We went to see you last September when you came to Cleveland. It was the last big thing we did together, It was about 2 weeks before my son was born so I became very busy after. My point is that this band now means a whole lot to me than it did before and hearing new music of this caliber makes me so happy and so sad at the same time cuz my boy John would have been blasting this on repeat trying to learn how to play it on his drum set. Thank you for the music guys

Couple things
1. I'm so ready for this new era! I like what Andrew said on a podcast recently that essentially in his mind Jon has always been the front man and the clean role has always been a collaborative one.
2. I didn't realize how much someone holding their hand of magic cards upside down would bother me until this video 😂 but now all I want to do is play a high stakes game of commander with the band!
Andrew saying that about cleans made me change the way I view the band in a good way.
Even with people saying Eidola 2.0, it's actually Eidola that got me into the genre in the first place

Change is hard for me. I started listening to DGD when Acceptance Speech was released. Not hearing Tilian is gonna take getting used to, however I still love what they're doing and Andrew is definitely shining now. Another great song, can't wait for the album!

I just listened to Andrew’s interview and I personally think he’s the best choice for the band. The way he explained everything about the situation in the band makes sense. There’s no hate here, and I’m loving it. Also it makes sense that Jon is the real Frontman. He’s the best!

I havnt been this excited for new dgd material in a while. I think every singer has been the best for their time, but it was obvious Andrew was the real lead singer back on evaporate. That being said I loved Tillian. Dgd needs a new singer every 5 or 6 years
Too many saying it sounds like Eidola and I really don’t agree. There’s something special about the way Jon screams, his awkward lyrics and the match that does with the way Will plays in specific. This is different and it sounds so good, so DGD its something that only they’ll ever know how to pull off and honestly I’m excited for this next chapter in the bands life. Its nothing like ediola lol. I feel Andrew fits better in that band, there new album is amazing. Andrew sounds amazin on the record. But in these two songs IDK just didn't fit. I think a new fresh vocalist be more key. Or drop Clean Vocalist and have Jon do his thing, I would love that more.

I feel like Andrew has managed to step up his melodic vocals by taking cues from Tillian's groove. He was always good but his style has become even better. Recent songs I have found Andrew's lines to be comparable or even better than Tillian's (War Machine being a strong example). He has become more distinctive and these songs are him making a very strong case. Honestly, DGD is going to be amazing no matter what. Time to welcome yet another era. We will always have the Jonny Craig, Kurt and Tillian eras available. I welcome new direction as long as it is still bangers.

What you remember (I think) was an interview he did around the time that everything hit the fan with Tilian two years ago and he was thrust into singing on the evening with friends tour. My honest opinion (not that it’s worth shit), is that sort of thing was said to appease the massive ego of a certain former lead singer to avoid conflict within the group. Or perhaps it was earnestly true and in the time since then when it became clear the band and Tilian were going to part ways, Andrew changed his mind when the permanent role became up for grabs. Like I don’t want to compete with my boss for his job, but if he resigns and it’s open, shit yeah let’s see if I can do it in that case. That type of thing.
Or I could be completely wrong because I’m speculating wildly!

Imma miss Tilian. His swagger was such a good fit for the band and some of my favorite songs from them involved him, but here Andrew really proved he's a worthy successor to carry the torch. These two songs are FIRE 🔥🔥

I have a unhealthy addiction to replaying this.
After the new Finn Mckenty interview with Tilian I am now entirely convinced Gobby was a hit at him and the band working through their feelings/frustrations transitioning away from the Tilian era. This was premeditated and thought out: the character story, mannerisms with social media, each band member's unique interactions with Gobby the works. We all speculated this but that interview really showed that tensions ran high for a while and DGD needed an outlet to express and go through those waves of emotion in dealing with Tilian's exit. Just my thoughts though
The stuff this band has been through is remarkably strong hearted.
