- I drove out to Laguna Beach early Saturday morning for a workout, while I was at it I decided to explore and search for the SECRET POOLS & CAVES.

Hey everyone, im a Laguna local, just wanted to give you a brief insight into visiting these pools. If you are not familiar with high tides and low tides and how to read them I highly suggest avoiding coming here. The reason being is many have come to these pools only to get stuck by high tides, they attempt to leave during high tides and then get hurt. We had a girl break her neck a few years back and had to get helicoptered out. Lifeguards at 1000 steps will tell you, they hate when people go on the other side of the cave because if you are not experienced and you get stuck or hurt they then have to risk there lives trying to help you. In fact that cave you see at 3:25 can fill up with water to your chest, seen it multiple times. My intention isnt to persuade you not to visit. Rather, just be smart, consider others, and safety resources.

Beaches are public in California. Some have restricted access because it is blocked by personal property. Look up a prescriptive easement. A legal easement can be created to cross owner's personal property if trespassed without owner's permission for over 5 years. Yes, you read that right.
Great video. Do you think children can make it to the pools and back out safely. My kids are 5 and 7 and are experienced hikers. I really want to take them here. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Angelina Escanuelas-Torres i mean if they have experience they should be fine. The sort of difficult part would be climbing over the rocks but other then that it should be a fun and great experience

There are no private beaches on the 840 miles of California coastline. That NO TRESPASSING in invalid. California Coastal Act. See also : prescriptive easement. A legal easement can be created to cross owner's personal property.
Tell that to 3 Arch, Emerald Bay and Irvine Cove in Laguna. They all block access to people who want to use the ocean. It’s ridiculous.

Eventually once i got down those huge rocks it led me to like this little area, and from there it literally led to the bridge 👌🏽

I went there recently, it is open and very crowded.

j BIRD honestly yeah theres some days it’s impossible to get to the pools. Especially now i Feel like it became more well known as well. But keep trying I promise you it’s a dope ass experience and worth it

No beaches are private. Again, Google is your friend. People that live there put those signs up. They own the property there home is on , they don't "own" the beach

Actually there is no such thing as a private beach in California. Those homeowners on the cliffs property only extends to the high tide line. That is probably why it's not enforced.

stitch16261 i guess its “technically” private but ppl visit all the time. And its ocean water so what ever the temperature is for the day is most likely what it is gonna be. That particular day was like 60° so the water was cold

Princess Daisy The closest would be next to the 1000 steps. As you get further along PCH it becomes private communities.

how deep is the water and the temp is the same as the beach water
Sandy Lee the water isnt too deep like 4 feet i would say. I could stand up. The temperature is same as the ocean

Liz OG LOL, you pretty much got to park your car near 9th Ave and Pacific Coast Hwy. once there find the the “thousand steps” go all the way down and when you reach the sand make a left and walk the beach all the way till you hit the caves.
