Thanks for the vid. I believe the volumetric lighting works in conjunction with the fog. If the lighting is on, you see the light get diffused by the fog. If it is off, you don't see that effect.
If you are lucky, ED will change the Cockpit Windshield to Clear instead of that badly scratched look that they just eliminated in the F-5E ... finally.
I'm running a mod to get the yellow tint off the front glass, and I think there is one for the canopy scratches somewhere. I would guess that's a pretty low priority for ED right now.
Thanks Towbie! I recorded this on my Fox3 server because I was curious how it would run in multiplayer. I saw a little performance hit... you guys notice anything similar?
@Westpoint1-1 I don't think I associated it with that, but now that you mentioned it, we will look into it and see since we have 2 fox3 and a third from a reliable home server builder. Can compare between the 2 soon and will let you know.
this is amazing, but there will be more updates for sure because isnt that gradual vertically and should be, i believe they will fix it tho, looks way better now tho
So far the new effect is extremely realistic and looks great! Take a look at the latest video I posted that shows the thick low fog in the South Atlantic map, it’s stunning!! So Im liking it!
Agreed. I'll be putting up a video later on how to create that thick fog, and how to use the ground elevation to best utilize it. It's really mind blowing! It turns out what I had created here was more of a morning haze (quite realistic at that) rather than that amazing dense fog,
@@ricbish That's like we discovered that wind affects the range of mavericks! It's interesting finding all the cool things that are below the surface in DCS!
@@ricbish With a 20mph tailwind, we were able to force correlate AGM-65H greater than 13.5 miles at 19,000ft. When we turned into the wind, the headwind would cut our range down to about 11.5 to 12 miles! It's amazing that that is actually calculated in!
They are the vast majority of the time. Before the Update, I was getting 80-100fps... since the Update, I've been seeing 60-75fps. Not sure what's behind the small hit I took. I was previously running fine on a 3060ti, this was recorded on a 3080ti 12Gb. I would think it will run fine for you in 2D.
After more experimenting, I found that above fog in a location like Guam, actually yielded a performance boost. I'm guessing it's due to the fact the less of the terrain and foliage is being rendered.

It's a cool effect however you slice it I think. Looking forward to trying a sandstorm in Syria!
If you manual you can set it up to come and go over a period of time.
Good video, just updated can't wait to get on later

it looks amazing in vr too they made it🙏nice video
I've been waiting for VR image quality to catch up to desktop, amazing.
Great stuff brother. Been looking for this information. Appreciate the channel and liked and subscribed.❤

@@DCS4DVetTV Awesome! I try keeping up with the Scuttlebutt Lounge, but seems I'm always elsewhere. Great community there!
@Westpoint1-1 we are growing and have many places we visit to fly with all our best discord communities. We love collaborative friends and sharing.
For all the Reshaders... they found a way to get haze back in the game.🤣
I do have to say that the lighting is much improved. I don't feel like it's finished yet, but it looks nice.
Nice job
Yall see that UFO at 2:17? XD Along the high way
Edit: Nvm, I see it is just the cars glitching haha
A few of those cars were literally flying down the road! LOL

@ It actually changes with the heat of. The day and sun and will move in and out over time. Crazy!!

@ I didn’t know that!! I’ll write that one down! DCS is an amazing sim!! Glad you said that about mavericks!

What’s your pc setup? Because graphics look good.
Thanks! Here's what I'm running:
Ryzen 7 5800X
GTX 3080ti 12Gb
64Gb RAM
Is your fps stable? Cause i want to play Dcs with a 2060

I play dcs with a 2060 and it runs fine enough
what`s the map pls?
Syria. I took off from Incirlik.
Who needs civil cars on the road during war.
😂
Civilians? They always want to save themselves.
Have they fixed the 24 / 7 vortices? Even console shooters to a better job.
New update and new bugs😂
Spotting dots in VR still awful.
I still don't really see any noticeable difference
is there a performance hit?
I saw a mild one. This was recorded straight off my GPU in Multiplayer on a Fox3MS server.
