Hi, student here, found the video really helpful. I just wanted to confirm the lifelong use of prophylactic penicillin in those with sickle cell? So in practice, most adults with sickle cell should be presenting with penicillin in their medication history/current meds?

I was always told to answer salmonella for any question referring to osteomyelitis and sickle cell dz, first I've heard it otherwise.

Same here! Looked it up on UpToDate to try to find clarification:
"Staphylococcus aureus, the most common cause of osteomyelitis in individuals without SCD, accounts for only one-fourth of all cases in SCD" (www.uptodate.com/contents/bone-and-joint-complications-in-sickle-cell-disease?source=machineLearning&search=osteomyelitis+sickle&selectedTitle=1~150§ionRank=1&anchor=H12#H12)
"We conclude that Salmonella is the most common cause of osteomyelitis in patients with SCD, both in developing countries and in developed countries, and that its relative incidence is more than twice that of S aureus." (pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/101/2/296.long)

    1) The role of aspirin or other anti_platelets drugs in managing a stroke due to Sickle cell anemia ?
    2) The effect of sickle cell anemia on platelets ?
