Interestingly I was in the same high school ,same graduating class 1977 as his half brother BIG JOHN RIGGS,at Laguna Beach Calif. I got to know his brother who was a devout HARE KRISHNA. He was dying of throat cancer 3 years ago.The last week of his illness he was in terrible pain,he had the priest from the temple at his home 24/7 reading from the GITA. Several hours before leaving his body he became, suddenly, very calm&peacefilled. His wife seeing the pain removed asked him, "John what has happened, you seem so peacefull,"?,he said, i see a light, a most beautiful light. He repeated this sentiment several time, breathed 3 deep breath,s, smiled a most becoming smile, & transitioned into the light. He left behind a wife of 23 years&2 teenage daughters. He was also a sponsor to several memebers of his AA tribe for many years. He will be missed
I had the good fortune to attend an event with him on Maui, his chants put me in the Zone and literally made me see trails... and I hadn't eaten anything special. Please don't disrespect him. None of us are perfect. Thank you Bhagavan. Much Love.
I have some good memories of Baba when I met him and Mira at Woodstock in 2002 when I was visiting there with Kunsang DetchenLingpa Rinpoche. Good to see and hear him after a long time.
I'm always amazed at BD and how he cuts thru like Manjurshri. The "sword" of some kind of truth is so refreshing to hear again. The spinning of the prayer wheel is sort of disconcerting. I've had many of these weird types of reactions being in BD's space. Something always "opens" in weird ways. Wow. Thanks...gifts...
to receive anything from the divine world , the basic need is to trust. When you have ability to trust ,then whom you trust becomes secondary. that is why every path leads to the divine world. Paths are not important. only the person , his trust and divine world is important. Holyman exits and he makes the journey simpler. Love from india.
Namaste, Bhagavan Das Is THE kirtan Wala. I love him and miss his kirtan at Kashi Ashram in Florida. Anyone know where he is now? (July 28, 2015) Nineteen with Neem Karoli Baba and introducing Ram Das to Baba tells the world who he is. Love, Radha Krishna Jaya
Louise Burkart he will be on retreat in south America this winter! Go to the website bhagavandas.com for more and a chance to learn with the great shadaka
I have just ordered Bhagavan Das book online and am looking forward to reading it. The person that bought my cameras has not given me the money that he owes. I mentioned this to you a few weeks ago. I was hoping that it would not come to this. All my plans for travel have to be postponed for the foreseeable future. I just hope the spirits are not trying to tell me to get lost with these problems. I hope it is just a test. Thank you Paula. Peter
I met Bhagavan Das at an Amma event. He was a nice guy. He rejected the name "Ram Das" which was later given to Alpert. I never heard this bit about split consciousness, or I have forgotten it. It's one thing for Neem Karoli Baba to have done it, but I didn't know he taught that. I had the view that being here now meant total focus, something more like that, than actively doing two things, but I guess it's there, the mantra and being in the present. I just had not thought of it that way. Are we here now if we are also half not here now, i.e., doing an internal mantra? anyone find this idea interesting? Thank you.
That is a good observation that it could quite possibly indicate that as a motive at at least some level. The fact that i expressed an analysis on the matter signifies that i have thought about this issue at some time or another, even arguably (that it is indeed the case) that i have felt exactly what i am expressing. thanks for your feedback.
Oh thanks. I did not know that I have a Divine Mother and that I have to remember her even when I am talking to other people, instead of being fully just in the talking. Good to know that I will encounter her at least in death.
spiritual wisdom does not rely on intellectual understanding. to know a mango, you need to taste the fruit, there is nothing to explain but by practice
I know. I have downloads of knowings come to me, then days later get pissed off I can’t regurgitate it. So, I just sit on my porch and stare at the mountains.✌️
I love the prayer wheel. I keep looking for them in nature - Waves/no Wind/no Perpetual/no. Man is in need of a "Windmill Prayer Wheel" I have an idea for a "Windwill Causeway" 1000's of small turbins line the roadway across the bay. Texas is going to build a second one way not a Utility
additionally i perceive him to have an underling negatively inclined outlook to life as being, in essence, hard and full of suffering,... unable to see past that, realizing the integral beauty and lightness to the matrix, and the affect consciousness has been demonstrated relentlessly to have on sub atomic matter, which everything is composed of.
and additionally, i am not expressing a judgement on this form of belief... or siding with anyone in the video... just pointing out a undeniable observation that doesn't belong to someone of "enlightened" stature. But then again i was the one projecting him to represent himself as "enlightened", when he obviously is not for he is still affected by mere matters such as an interviewee...
This is NOT Richard Alpert. It is Bhagwan das, not Baba Ram das. He introduced Alpert to Neem Karoli Baba. If you are going to criticize the guy at least get his identity right.
j0eX Ha Ha! Lol🤣! Right! In their own words, these 'narcissistic pricks' judging everyone without knowing anything. They only see their own ugly reflections everywhere, that's what scares them. To me, this person comes across as simple, straightforward and genuine. He is clear about his philosophies in life. Right or wrong, who knows. But, such clarity doesn't come by sitting in rooms, discussing theories and making shallow comments on others. He has experienced it. He isn't into serving sugar & honey or appeasing anyone. He wouldn't care proving anything to anyone either. Maybe, that's what the today's pretentious world doesn't like.
The two women (Kali) sitting on both sides of Bhagavans conscious self representing to two halves/poles of bifurcated SELF immersed in her eternal OM Shanit Peace!
He has a lot of good things to say, but the interviewers are bad. They seemed dumbfounded when Bhagavan Das compared NYC to "cave culture." The interviewers also seem to be trying to brag to him...and I think that's why he seems standoffish. I don't blame him.
However i'm not sure and I would be reluctant to conclude (although it could still be the case) that this indicates my dependence on the others reaction... some people behave in certain manners in an attempt to help others overcome personally understood struggles... i guess one difference is that i explain my point (premise) that leads to my conclusion without presenting it as being fixed, and the other just his/her fixed conclusion.
I would imagine that someone that gets it wouldn't be irritated by the behaviors of others... would you not agree? otherwise we must hold different definitions of what getting it means. i believe that a integral essence of "getting it" involves the absence of dependence on other people's reactions.
This video causes me great irritation. I'm not living to be subjected to suffering. Yes it happens, but the idea is to transcend the desire and suffering. I live as though everything is love or at least try. I don't like the pessimism. Maybe I'm to optimistic, but I think life is about beauty and love.
Serving the Lotus feet of Krishna surpasses any yogic trick, sitting in fire or standing on one leg has no benefit and does not attact Krishna who wants your heart not your magic shows.Krishna is the greatest Yogi and mystic., this kaliyuga is the age in which we can chant Hare krishna and go back home to Godhead, Kaler dosha nidhe rajan, this kaliyuga has ONE good quality and that is the chanting of Gods names, Harer Nama Harer nama Harer nama eva kevalam, kalua nasta eva nasta eva nasta eva gathir anyatah In this age of Kali.there is no other way, no other way no other but to chant the names of the Lord, chant the names of the Lord, chant the names of the Lord.
Word i agree, he doesn't say he is enlightened, but then again, he doesn't seem very close to it. if your emotions can be influenced like that by an interviewee, then how is he aware? the whole idea behind being aware, or some say enlightened is not to let other things effect your inner essence, which is outside the realm of physical nature. aka,,,an interviewee not affecting your emotional experience... that's at least the way i understand it...
true, also a by product of the bifurcation process perhaps. Instead of focusing on the conversation and emotional state, he's focused on convo and mantra, leaving the emotional state unobserved.
Why do those hands in constant motion make me so uncomfortable? Must be my ego- he's mirroring my restless mind. And I'm evil, too...I just saw it- I found myself hoping that that the little twirly thing would pop off and whack the woman in the colorful shirt on the noggin..... does yoga fix this, or do I need Prozac?
Yo the bagwan is trying to teach you without saying a word or answering any questions ..but you people's minds won't shut up ..i understand that because my mind won't either ..at least that's what I. Getting out of it ...i come from a generation of gangsters and that's the truth that's not bull ..but the bagwan is a different kind of gangster then I have ever encountered ..he is a spiritual gangster ...and I see he knows his shit...i never learned so much in my life as in the past couple days I BEEN listening to him ...hes also no nonsense I see that about him ..when I first saw him my ignorant Italian ass made fun of him ..i said "silly swami"but then as I began to listen to him ..i saw,he made sense ...change the course of my life in two days ...now I BEEN watching him on you tube and I'm different..for whatever that's worth ..

I dnt think he is doing for money... he is juz sharing his set of life experience... and ppl who dnt kno anything about consciousness, spirit shudnt comment anything on this blog... these ppl r certainly in the mode of ignorance (conditioned themselves with materialism) and they havnt seen the power of ascetism...
what's to get is to not by hypnotized by (caught up in) the drama. Be rested in the eternal place of wisdom. Get off the merry go round, it's not merry. that came through very clear for me.
They obviously are excited about having such a prolific person on their "show," yet they didn't bother reading his book. The host keeps hinting that she wants BD to share knowledge, or wisdom, in hopes that it won't "become lost"... It's like they just don't get it at all. People who are hung up on him being a "womanizer" are forgetting that we've all been infinite things to another an infinite amount of times. To be fixated on one point of awareness' temporary physical manifestation is silly
God is only one in spirit, but in India any devotee can worship God in his or her different aspects of manifestations in the universe. Everything was created by God, so we are part God. God is invisible and visible, God is personal and impersonal. Personalities has no meaning for God

Impressed with honesty and knowledge, but puzzled by the physicality and appearance, which seems very pretentious. How on earth one can be chanting-meditating with spinning wheel in one hand and japa mala (beads) in the other hand, and yet be conversing and totally distracted?! Looks like some concocted practice derived from a mish mash of Buddhism here and Kali worship there, and all stirred in a Hippy pot of drugs, alcohol and immoral sex. Not sure if this is any Dharma way to seek love of God even in Kali Yuga ..
Agreed. Wipe that exasperated look off your face and let Bhagavan talk. If you can't be bothered doing the most basic of research by reading the book, then shut up and learn.
If everyone has the truth, then he has the truth. checkmate. Anyway he never claims status so not sure what you're referring to. I only hear him say "You are it, do the work, stay present."
Sorry to say this, but no self realized soul would even concider taking any type of drug (drugs are intoxicants and poison and stump spiritual growth), this guy is a nice musician but hes just an old hippy who calls himself an Aghori......mmmm, ok, if you say so, ive seen and been with Aghoris.
God takes drugs. Why are Hare Krshna devotees so "my way is the only way"? it's incredibly egoistic. There is no one "right way". Everything is the way, all that is required is awareness and self inquiry, devotion or some other action yogic path. And some people wake up spontaneously without any conscious effort or focus, though that is one of the least common ways..
a by product of the bifurcation process perhaps. Instead of focusing on the conversation and emotional state, he's focused on convo and mantra, leaving the emotional state unobserved.
What is with the swatik symbol...even if it has other meanings it has a extremely negative connotation associated with it and I can't believe you would want that karmic energy over your head. Insulting.

Informative interview that touches my heart with it's frank honesty! Jay Gurudev! Om Tat Sat!
Bhagavan Das told me "I'm a spiritual celebrity. I'm just trying to make my million and get outta 'thugville'." Thugville meaning the material grind.
