May or may not happen. I've seen folks do thumb stud versions of this one (aftermarket mods) and it just looks sort of weird. Wouldn't be quite in the right place, either. We never got thumb stud version of the half/full-track either, so I'm expecting this to stay flipper-only.
Im sure its every bit as capable, but not having the external blade stops just feels weird to me. Its probably 80% of whats stopping me from trying one
With the way the front of the knife is shaped, a blade-stop-thumb-stud would either be right up next to that front finger groove or the necessary spot may in fact be under the scale. Either way, the geometry wouldn't work for "typical" Hinderer thumb stud placement. For what it's worth, the sliciness of this blade makes it feel more like a general utility knife and less like a hard use beater the way other Hinderers feel. Sufficiently different from the stab-through-a-car-door feel of an XM-18/XM-24. As I said in the review, I went in thinking I wouldn't love this one (I just sorta liked the Full Track, and I've tried the Half Track many times and it's never really sat well with me)...but came away VERY impressed.
Agreed entirely. The more I get to know Hinderers and look at them in detail, the more impressed I am with the scale and sophistication of their production. The fact that we're seeing Chinese-made knives regularly hit the mid-$300s to $400s and Hinderer is making even nicer knives here in Ohio is a testament to how tight they've got their operation. Rick's got a great team behind him.
They are priced right along or under Medford or Koenig. They all sell out so fast you can't even get some models. Are you getting rich selling a product? They are.
Nice piece. Good vid.
I wanted that knife when it first released but I’d like a flipperless version

So fixed pokey flipper. Decided to use properly hardened, tempered steel? Learned that geometry cuts?
All true! And what do you know, combine that with the things that have always made Hinderers good and it leads to an excellent knife.

Hinder knives are always neat looking, but idk if they'll ever be 500-400 neat haha
In a world of $200 pm2s, a $425 xm18 is a steal.
