    Love the setup, where can I get a setup like this for a 99 explorer that’s awd

      Here is the link for the front long travel kit I have from BTF fabrication, they also offer a race kit that should fit because ranger and explorer frames are the same in these years.
      You will need to purchase shocks, bump stops, fiberglass, shock towers, and other things to make it all work properly.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Where’d you get the upper shock mounts? Or you build them yourself?

    sick truck, i want to build my ranger into a pre runner and plan on doing suspension and wheels first but i don’t trust myself to put on new suspension. do you know of or even if any shops would put on your own bought parts?

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It mostly depends on where you live, KDM fab and social suspension are good shops but are in Cali. Most shops wouldn't or shouldn't take a task like that on because it requires structural fabrication and know-how of those types of suspension in order for them to work properly.

    How much did your springs and shocks upfront cost you?

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a similar setup for around 1.3k, Check out down south motorsports, they have good pricing. Make sure you get the proper springs because most of the time they won't take returns.

    Dude you have no idea how easily you could put a 5.0 in this, not a coyote but just a good old pushrod 5.0. I'm doing the same thing, get yourself a 99-01 awd 5.0 explorer and pull the engine from it, the ecm, and motor mounts. Its all plug and play, if your truck is manual like mine you can get either a m5odr2 from a 97+ 4.2 f150 or use the auto from the explorer and swap t cases. If you're wanting more than 500 horse and are planning on clutch dumping everywhere you go get a 351 block and bolt the 5.0 stuff onto it and boost it to your hearts content. Everyone's so generic with ls swapping everything when thats a helluva lot harder than staying oem. Only thing you'll have to do is detune the pats which is 40 bucks at a dealership

      I was thinking about going the ford route but it just seems more expensive than just getting an iron block 5.3 or something from chevy. I was also going to plan on using a standalone harness and computer which would make everything easy. It is a tough choice though because would rather keep the 4 wheel drive. As of right now, I am probably just going to keep the stock 4.0 because its underpowered which makes things harder to break. Thanks for the suggestion, I will have to look more into it as I am not set on what my plan is.

      @@Ethan_McGee I'm into my swap 650 bucks (running and driving explorer and the trans and transfer case) of course that doesn't include my truck. Only reason I haven't done it is because there's 6 inches of snow outside lol but when I do get to it everything is plug and play. Ill have a 5.0 v8 powered 4x4 5 speed ranger that I can turn into whatever I want to. Total cost will be somewhere around 1k after I rebuild the motor and cam it. I laughed when you said you're waiting for the 4 0 to blow, if its the ohv you'll be at it a while. If you have any questions ill be happy to answer, build up will be on my channel come spring

      @@DylanC828 Alright thanks for the suggestion, It sounds like a good swap and I might be interested. If I have any questions ill hit you up. Although it is the OHV so it will be a while lol.

      Would to be the same for a 94 also has a 4.0 manual

  • @robertohiguera8832

    Just as a footnote, do not buy 37s. My truck is on 35s and it hardly clears with fabricated core support. Additionally, the tires you are running now are 32.8 by 11.4, they're not 33x12.5. That extra width makes it more difficult to clear and full bump. I also recommend adding 0 gauge ofc wire to your battery if you're having an issue with starting up your truck and if you're running that audio system. I'm running the same BTF fab kit, it kicks ass but has to be set up correctly.

    4 wheel drive pre runner ?

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes :)

    • @King7765
      @King7765 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTF makes a "race" long travel kit that can potentially pull 21" of travel and still maintain the 4x4 using RCV shafts. So 4x4 prerunners are becoming more available.

    • @Rhyamarie
      @Rhyamarie ปีที่แล้ว

      If you knew what a pre-runner actually is and designed to do, it doesn’t matter if it’s four-wheel-drive or 2 Wheel Dr.

    • @Rhyamarie
      @Rhyamarie ปีที่แล้ว

      The word pre-runner has nothing to do with the drivetrain of a truck
