I recently traveled to Cancun Mexico. Here are some of the highlights I was able to capture while there.
My First Backpacking Trip - Tropical - 4K60
มุมมอง 825 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I go on my first backpacking trip. This trip was meant to be a little tester before I take it on more serious backpacking chips in the future. I learned a lot and I'm excited to do it more in the future. If you are interested in my gear setup I made a separate video for that that you can find here: th-cam.com/video/Be9EEIOQ2OY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SlW31YdRK_gur0NR

I slap this engine together into a long block and show the process and the tools I got to do it. I wish I recorded more of it but it is what it is. I will be doin...

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say it depends on what your goals for the truck are. I am going for something that is a little more nimble and lighter-weight. The Rangers have great aftermarket support. The GMC will be heavier but will come basically LS swapped. Track width on a full size may be challenging because they are already so wide. Cant really go wrong either way but at the end of the day, if you are doing a full build you are really only going to be using the cab and the rest will go to the junkyard lol.

    I feel everything you said. Trust me I know what you are going through. Words of advice. Small victories. Make lists so you can visualize the victory’s. Don’t erase the list. Only cross out the task once completed. It’s a mental thing. When I was building my prerunner called dirt_rods, there were multiple times I would sink low. The visual list helped me so I could see progress. By the time my truck was running I had almost a wall covered in lists. The small stuff takes the longest. You took on a huge project. There are only a select few people that finish these. That should push you. Knowing you are NOT average. Keep in mind all of what you are doing is hard now but with time will become easier. You got this push through it.

    What has all the cage cost so far I have a 05 fx4 crew cab I just took off the road frame is gone fist size holes just after leaf spring front perches on both sides….. don’t know if I should just junk it probably should 260,000 miles interiors mint and it doesn’t skip a beat.

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the interior and exterior cage alone from TEDesigns, it was probably around 5-6k. If you factor in a couple hundred hours of time, welding and fabrication, electricity, consumables, a new interior, tabs and mounts, new fuel setup, and new suspension it would probably be closer to the 20k mark if you do it yourself and depending on how you do it ex (Do you want a stock rear end with leaf springs or links, do you want the stock fuel setup or a fuel cell).

    • @single_cam9199
      @single_cam9199 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The hours and consumables don’t bother me but I’m not willing to sink 5k into it for just chromoly I mean idk possibly my supplier might be cheaper I mean more then likely it be a payment queen because there’s only a couple tiny off-road places in the northeast so maybe dom

You will need to purchase shocks, bump stops, fiberglass, shock towers, and other things to make it all work properly. A 14” coilover and 16” bypass might work better for you. No point in running a 16”/18” package if your going yo strap it at less since you’ll have way more travel than your front. And a 14”/16” package would probably allow to retain those 2 tubes you were talking about cutting out.

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not really worried about that tube structure, the 16/18 would fit better than a 14/16 and I wouldn't run into as many issues. The bigger the shock the better overall.

  • @thingsforgotten2254
    @thingsforgotten2254 ปีที่แล้ว

    The trans on trucks is usually point down at 5-6 degrees. You want a parallel driveline angle, meaning the rear pinion should point UP 5-6 degrees at ride height. The concept of level has nothing to do with it.

      Yeah, they need the +3 rod ends, i am still waiting to build the mounts because of that.

  • @TheChicagOP

    With pinion angle. If you're using a double cardan driveshaft then have it pointing at the trans at ride height if just a single u joint then make it parallel to the trans at ride height then point it down roughly 2-4 degrees. As long as it doesn't bind in the rest of the travel you're fine

    • @Ethan_McGee
      @Ethan_McGee ปีที่แล้ว
