Thank you ladies, it's all so amazingly interesting! I have finally succeeded with a 36hr fast yesterday, 24/01/22! I'm so thrilled, I've tried to do it several times in the last half of 2021. Each time I would eventually make it a OMAD, because I would start to feel sick. I'd always remembered in Dr Jason's OC, if you feel sick STOP and break your fast, you can always try again another time. So I am really chuffed. Today I have eaten 3 good LC meals and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. I'm going to try another 36hr tomorrow, my last meal today was at 5.40pm 25/01/22. I'm going to attempt 3 x 36, with 3 x meals alternate days..if all goes well. If not, I'll go back to a 24hr AD fast and rethink it. Bless you and yours this 2022, from the UK

Keep it up!! I followed alternate day fasting plan and lost over 100lbs and am leaner than I've ever been. It's a muscle!!

@@justalauren9750 Thank you, and Very well done you! I am attempting 2 x 36hr fasts a week. Hoping to nudge myself out of a LONG LONG plateau! I’d lost 3lbs last week.. so so thrilled! And this morning I actually managed a 42hr.. first time ever since starting this in March 2020. It was going to be a 36, but I felt so well and, not hungry, so I pushed it on. I’m eating 3x meals today, really looking forward to them too. What an amazing gift of hope and health, Dr Jason Fung has given to so many! Best wishes for 2022.

Great information, I took many notes. Thank you! I have heard conflicting information about fasting and women's monthly cycle but now I know why a planned 24 hour fast effortlessly turned into a 42 hour fast while I was on my period. I love these podcasts, keep them coming 😊

I have been only distilled water fasting annually for 4 years. I had a moderate case of psoriasis. Furthermore, I was taking a biologic to fight the symptoms. The first year I fasted for 14 days, and it made my psoriasis dormant for an entire year, leaving no traces. I didn't take any biologics, topical, or light therapy. After a year, the symptoms returned, but were very mild. The second year, I fasted for 10 days, experienced the same mild symptoms and only periodically had to take a topical for my scalp, knees and elbows. To the third and fourth years, the symptoms pretty much remained the same. I plan on fasting for 14 days the next time and see if it removes the symptoms entirely again. I want to add that during the year, once or twice, I'll do a 3-day and a 7-day fast.

Is alternate day fast same as OMAD, 24 hour, 36 hour, 42 or 48 hour fast??????please clarify with hours instead of interchanging terms that dont really interchange

Alternate day fasting means you skip a day, so it would be 36-48 hours of fasting. For example, you eat Monday, skip Tuesday, and eat Wednesday. Depending upon when you eat Wednesday, the hours would vary.

I have to disagree about one statement. Fasting absolutely can cause gout. I did a 35 day fast with no history of gout or high uric acid and I developed gout during my fast. I'm 34. My uric acid levels consistently go up when I fast for more than a week. I now take allopurinol when I do extended fasting.
