I learned more in this brief video of portrait and watercolor than any I have seen. Wonderful tutorial. I look forward to learning more from your skills.
Wow! What an amazing painting and tutorial! Thanks so much for explaining everything and adding bonus tips too! I love that I could see your palette and the written names of the paints as well as watch you mix the colours. And yes, just getting out there and giving it a go and to just keep on trying! We learn something with every attempt! Thanks again for your time and effort here! How uplifting and encouraging you have been for us! Bless you!
you have such marvellous ability to teach ... i really like working on faces - have just recently discovered my inner artist, and this is the most useful, practical, vlog i have watched in past year! appreciate how you insert tips to make painting process more organized. i loved this vlog,, btw this little guy is adorable!
Thank you Adam! I'm sure you can! It was actually very quickly done (~30min). In terms of softening edges, I usually keep a separate soft damp brush and paper towel handy...in general when I pain I hold a few brush in my left hand, so instead of rinsing all the paint off and mixing again, I just changed the brush. Hope this helps!
Oh, im very impatient my self! I remember I had a list of 5 things always remind me what "not to do". The outdoors are the worst, it always pushes you to work even faster, but at the same time skip all the details...so good as well! I think bigger brushes and remember not to think about objects I paint, but shapes and tones were my biggest helpers (for instance: if I didn't think it's a house, I didnt need to paint every brick).
Thank you Isabel! It was one of my first videos on TH-cam, I was under impression that slower videos are boring 🤣🤷 I usually only double the speed in my recent videos.
Please make another video that goes much slower with more explanation. You skipped extremely quickly over colour mixing and how you found the highlights. Or don’t title your video an Easy How To. This was an Intermediate exercise for sure.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'm am planning to do a "Beginner Wednesday" series in real time speed. But in the meantime, I have over 40 real time demonstrations on PATREON with very detailed explanation of what I do and why covering everything you need to know about watercolor. Please find me there if you want to learn more. I also have private FB group where you can post your question, paintings and receive detailed feedback. My Patrons find it invaluable.
Everything in 7 minutes. Outstanding.
Thank you! I'll do a full demo on portraits next month 👍
Incredible. This makes me feel like I might actually be able to tackle portraits of our grandchildren. ❤ Thank you!

Thank you Jan! I'm so glad it's useful!
Amazing. I'm not sure I could do that. The amount of times going back in to blend or soften what you've laid down, so much patience!
