Toyota 4 Runner Police K9 Squad for Plover Wisconsin

- We welcomed an unusual build for our local police department, Plover, Wisconsin! They had a gracious donation from their local Toyota dealership in this 2016 4 Runner SUV. This, along with many other donations created their ability to have us upfit this rig with the latest tech in k9 transportation. ACE k9 systems are very popular in the market, and they are very feature-rich.
The unique kennel was a collaboration with Metal Crafters LLC here in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. We appreciate their commitment to quality in creating such a robust transport kennel.

In Hawaii HPD uses 4runners and chargers, sometimes Camry too

Curious what did you use to mount the radio and light controller to the dash?
Police should get more toyotas in their line up. Freaking reliable and strong and rugged for various terrains and temperatures.
Any info on additional air conditioning for the rear of a 2018 4Runner for my K9?
Nice rig! Now all it needs is a grill guard, rock sliders, and a super charger. lol

Do you sell these K9 Kennels or offer up fitting for a 5th Gen 4Runner?
This would be great if they could give us an update on whether they are for sale. I'd like to set my 4th gen up for this. Would be perfect for my dog training business.
Should have started with a Trail model instead of SR5. Would have gotten KDSS for superior handling. Coupled with upgraded suspension and 4.56 gearing you could have dominated acceleration requirements.

This is why I am searching for X Law enforcement car X federal agent car. Campus resource officer told me may take me to FBI/Police auction where you buy Criminal property cars ECt as well as retired cars.

How did you guys mount the cannons in the turn signal housing? And is it double walled?
If I remember... it's a single wall. We went toward the inside/centerline of the vehicle so the LED would flash outward and to the side. Its pretty much a self-explanation once you get the housing off from the vehicle. Cheers!

Amazing job but why not just use a Standard police vehicle I Tahoe or Ford utility also although they look convenient every time I see one of the split cages both sides look way too tight
Excellent question! This department was extremely fortunate to have the vehicle donated to them for this use. And it gave us a chance to challenge ourselves here at the shop. The downside is the 4Runner is NOT a pursuit vehicle; but in reality, those "movie set" style pursuits are very few indeed. The end result for the kennel is that it's the same dimensions as a Havis brand kennel fit for a Ford Utility, except it's about 2 inches taller step-in height. So step-in height is about the same as a Tahoe. Cheers~Ben

4runner is way more rugged
4Runners are WAY more rugged. I saw this rig recently STILL ON THE ROAD. Any Ford would have been used up by now.

The rear lighting is terrible and terrible placement of the prisoner in this car. Not very well thought out as far as Officer safety is concerned.
