I'm curious to see how the two perform on 5G. My experience has been that I get heating and battery drain when I'm on the fastest 5G network. Apple tried to replace the standard Qualcomm modem and has failed. Google's Samsung modem seems to be improving, but I not sure if it has improved between the P7 and P8.

@TechThatOut you need to change the thermometer settings on your IR thermometer. It was set to measure body temp. you need to switch it to measure Object temp. for accurate reading. There should be a button or a slide switch on the side of the thermometer.
Great comparison video. Just a small tip. In the part where you had them both running Instagram it would probably be good to have them both in dark mode or both in light mode for a more even comparison. The phone in dark mode will use less power than the phone in light mode since it doesn't have to illuminate as much of the display. Maybe not a huge difference but just something to keep in mind with OLED screens.

Overheating is a real issue on my pro7, so much so that video recording degrades videos then cuts off. I changed my case to one without a magnetic back and it still overheats and drains battery. About 6-7h/day with heavy use. Hopefully they fixed it on the pro8
Other reviewers are exaggerating heating issue on pixel. I've been using the pixel 8 pro since over a week, i haven't even noticed one case of over heating, and the online web page sources say no heating issue. Expect some reviewers in youtube.
It should be remembered that CPU Throttling is not a precise test and in some cases it will fail if the equipment optimization is not good, something different from the temperatures. CPU Throttling monitors how sustainably and how much performance decays over time, it does not monitor how much temperature it is raising. I will give an example, I did this test on a Redmi Note 11 and the phone, even when cold, gave quite poor results.
That red graphs make me a bit worried but it's still anew device may be in future google optimises it well... I always found the pixels to be extremely ugly. Somehow thats a problem for most android flagships. The smaller phones look better. But tbh I think even with its own unique and probably a bit controverse design of camera the new one looks not too bad 😳 not as esthetic as an iPhone maybe but still pleasing and not a reason to not buy it anymore like last gen or smasung pixel ultra or literally almost any chinese phone (besides nothing phone. That ones fine)

You should have tested Pixel 8 Pro 4k60 recording for at least 30 minutes, the P7P overheats and stops recording past 20 minutes. 5 Minutes is nothing.

Im considering S23, flip 5, pixel 8, iphone 15 pro or maybe wait for S24?
Which should i get or any more recomendations? Thanks!
Sorry, but have not used most of the phones and one is not released as well. So would prefer not to comment
It does get pretty warm almost 38 Degree battery temp in everyday use when connected to a network
If you buy a pixel you need to be aware it gets warmer then the competion but Pixel 8 is def. a little bit better than Pixel 7
My 7 pro over heats when I make eye contact with it
Since the Android 14 update my 6 Pro doesn't heat up any near as much as before. Also feels faster and it wasn't slow before
@@kona328WHsame with my 7 pro, Android 14 got things way better.
show me a phone that someone doesn't complain about overheating on
go outside in the Arizona summer and take this test. This test is far from a real possible situation.
Please make an extensive real life battery test my friend :D
Should i pre-order the Google Pixel 8 Pro? I already have the Google Pixel 7 pro!
Do you think Google will follow up on the seven years of os updates.
Is the phone any good?
if you're 7 pro is fine then no
wait until the OS updates stop and then consider upgrading
@@Zeroneii3 i can still sell my phone for a concert amount of money on the second hand Market! Won't it decrease in value a lot over time?
@@JonathanSorelius you've already experienced the worst decrease (going new to used)
plus, if your current phone is fine then just wait till the pixel 10, that's when os updates stop
you'll end up with a better phone
also, I have the S10 RN and the trade in value is like 300 something
Hey! Nice video, once you get the sim, can you plese use it with sim to record 4k videos outside on sunny day, and check if it shut the camera down like older pixel devices do ? I preordered but I am reconsidering my decision because I don't want to be in doubt with my hardware if I am paying a decent price premium. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
I have done the same extensively today while using the camera for over an hour in many modes. It did get warm but was nowhere close to hot.

@@TechThatOut Thank you for your response. Saw your camera comparison video. You are a Rockstar. Also, if you don't mind me asking, while recording were you on 4g or 5g network. Thanks again.
Great work !
Can you please do a camera comparison between the two of them? technically, with P8 Pro mode, you can take lightning photos and I would love to see if astrophotography has improved!
Here you go!

It seems the G3 has better temperatures because Google is throttling it very heavily, not because it's actually more efficient. Pretty disappointing.
Throttling because the screen is brighter probably. Need it test at same brightness for a fair test
If it doesn't feel slow, does it matter if it throttles?
@@SukumarPatel best not to try and reason with these morons
This video is what matters. Love it.
Thank you!
Hi,
1) you had some problem in sim , it was not detected, has this problem solved??
2) does sim and esim both recognised by device ? And has it given proper network ?
3) internet speed is good on both sim and esim ??
You're doing great!
Thank you!
Wondering how did you get the device early from Flipkart aye? Bcoz it says delivery by 14th Oct from pre order date
While checking temperature why putting it in flight mode and wifi.. turn on mobile date and everything we use in normal usage. And use it in outside temperature
Brother any improvement on snapchat/instagram video? Or still the old android quality
go outside and take video like normal people dude, curious how they handle it
Can it do 4k portrait mode vedio? Slow mode and super steady mode resolution
Can you please check the Transfer Speeds with USB-C on the Pixel 8 Pro if they possibly have included faster transfers speeds than 2.0, they sometimes tend to include stuff and never mention anything about.
It's very annoying to see how long ago Android Smartphones moved to USB-C and we still have 2.0 transfer speeds, while Apple just moved to USB-C this year and we have 3.0 Speeds.
Will check & try to include in my full review!
Me wants 300 euro pixel with snapdragon 7 gen 1 or whatever... aint going back to pixel with their flawed tensor line.. 😢
I already know this summer it's gonna rain thousands of complaints about overheating. The 8 launch was conveniently in October... not during the hotter seasons. My pixel 6a gps/google maps was unusable during summer, always switching to dark mode within one minute because of overheating, couldn't see 💩.
I was excited until I saw the throttle test. It seems they are managing temps simply by throttling it more. Lol.
Yes, that seems to be the case
How'z the battery SOT on Pixel 7 Pro ?
Can you do a extreme battery drain test. I want to pre-order but just waiting for this . With cellular of possible.
Cool, thanks !
Hey, at 03:55 why the pixel8's camera is blinking? what is it called?
would you recommend to buy pixel 8 pro? Is it a good phone on the basis of daily use? and how is the charging speed on this one? as pixel 7 pro was way to slow.
It's going to charge almost as slow. If that's a deal-breaker I suggest another phone.
Is the pixel 7 you testing also newly unused like the pixel 8?
I always found the pixels to be extremely ugly. Somehow thats a problem for most android flagships. The smaller phones look better. But tbh I think even with its own unique and probably a bit controverse design of camera the new one looks not too bad 😳 not as esthetic as an iPhone maybe but still pleasing and not a reason to not buy it anymore like last gen or smasung pixel ultra or literally almost any chinese phone (besides nothing phone. That ones fine)
You thinking literally everyone phone but iPhone is ugly is just dumb fanboyism
🤡
So what am I waiting for? Is one of the phones supposed to lock up and give a warning like "too hot!"and shut down or something?
It didn't in my testing period.
Dude Pixel on Wi-Fi was never an issue. This test is a big fail.
You need to test them on data.
I had to send back 4 pixel 7 pros that would get crazy hot then the screen would glitch out or stop all together. I switched the the s23, but I miss the pixel software. I found the biggest offender was android auto when the heating went off the charts.
So sorry to hear that. Yes it does get hot at times. I can say that over the software updates, the phone has gotten way cooler
@@TechThatOutsorry but this is a lie. It did not get cooler at all. Its the same hot piece of crap as it was. Mine gets up to 42.5 I have photos which are proving it. You proved it yourself while enabling camera for 5 minutes! And it got over 42 Celsius which is HOT
So you're not under an embargo, yet you force it on yourself by not sideloading APKs. What a joke.
What i can see is the 8 pro screen looks darker.. more like what a amoled should look. Maybe google fixed their garin issues in video on night time and also while shooting direct to sunlight
.
You can check my latest video to find out the same: th-cam.com/video/LggUtxTjz08/w-d-xo.html
Has the fingerprint sensor improved?
I think its the same from the 7
@@ssspz mh i hope not
I know the A14 made the fingerprint sensor better on my P7P, but battery life and heat management is about the same as on A13
@@ssspzuntil its tested for yourself I would bet on it being tys same performance
@@Bob_Squared23my P6 pro runs so much cooler post A14 update. Quite shocking how much as well
For improving your videos:
Check you camera, it is often out of focus and display the temperature values in the video.
Thanks! Will try to do the same
If anyone planning to buy Pixel8pro then don't!
Especially if u can't ignore warmer device! Overheating phone! It's best to wait for pixel 9 only if it's coming with snapdragon! Or else never go for pixel phones
The avg gips is worse on the pixel 8 than the 7, not a good start but keeping throwing hopes on the tensynos
Hii sir. Google 8 loo ya fir 8 pro
Hi brother. My brother is planning to bring pixel 8pro from USA. I am not worried about warranty. My doubt is phone will work without any problem or not? Please clarify.
Thank you in advance 😊
Hey, the warranty mostly wont be entertained if bought from outside India. Would suggest you read all the TnC to understand & decide.
You should use a pixel 8 pro to measure the temperatures because it has that very silly feature now.
Would be very meta using a pixel to measure the difference between pixels
But unfortunately the thermometer app is not live. So cannot use the same.
You should have tested Pixel 8 Pro 4k60 recording for at least 30 minutes, the P7P overheats and stops recording past 20 minutes. 5 Minutes is nothing.
I did not really think it was a valid scenario. Also earlier, the 7 Pro used to go close to 45 degrees with video over 5 mins.
Great video, please also test pubg and gaming
Maturity is understanding that no phone comes close to pixel 8
