    The best tip I have for putting on stickers is... attach the part you're trying to place it on, to the edge of a larger plate (eg. the grey 8x12 that was sat just sat offscreen in the vid). You'll get way better results when you're not trying to hold a tiny 1x6 plate with your chubby adult fingers.

    Two things. Use a larger piece (like the big gray piece in the upper right corner of your video) and attach the small black piece to it with half of it sticking off the edge. Now you have this larger gray piece to grab on and can more easily apply the sticker instead of pinching it with two fingers. Two, a sticker can easily be lifted off a corner with a very sharp pocket knife. Once the edge of the blade is moved under the sticker, lift up and then the sticker edge can be grabbed with a pair of tweezers and pulled off for repositioning.

      Also, you can use a piece of the sticker sheet under the end of the sticker so as not to have the entire sticker attached to the part...which can be easily removed once you are happy with placement!

    The best way - which is recommended by LEGO itself - is to use Windolene. Cover the part with a bit of the liquid, place the sticker, adjust as necessary, press down, remove any excess liquid with a tissue and voila!

      Yes. Or dish soap. He tried with a glass of soapy water, but that didn't work because there was too much water, you want the solution to have some viscosity and to be slippery.
      After applying the sticker, leave to dry and it'll be just fine.

    Thank you for this! I now feel less bad about my slightly wonky sticker application. In my defense, I'm 81, with old eyes and somewhat reduced manual dexterity. One trick I have learned is to attach the element that I'm going to attach the sticker to to the edge of a larger piece. By holding on to the larger piece, I have a much steadier "target," and my fingers are not in the way.

    I just attach a small piece of clear scotch tape to the top of the sticker, so the taps essentially “picks up” the sticker for me. This gives me a clear view of the entire sticker, so aligning it to the brick is a breeze. Plus, the take holds the sticker flat,so there are no warped edges to throw off my alignment.

    Its actually cheaper to print rhe pices and many 3rd party brick companies actually show this with their sets. Tbh lego should make sets have printed pieces only now. They have the space, printing is cheaper than stickers. And the stickers are against their "eco awareness friendly" goal rhey are trying to do.

    I put the bricks onto a board or a brick separator, then you have a better thing to hold onto when you're sticking the sticker on, using the sticker backing sheet on the edge of the misplaced sticker will lift them off too if its just been put on wrong.

    I like to use my razor knife and place the corner of a sticker on its edge to line it up to the part.

    I always use the brick separator to handle the sticker (except the large ones like the UCS plaque ones) and usually use another piece or the Lego ruler with studs on top to hold the piece I’m placing the sticker on. Works like a charm!

    I usually use the brick separator method too, but when I need to deal with those long and thin stickers, what I do is grab them by the middle and not by one of the edges, and to me it seems easier, because there is less "wiggle surface". The problem I'm trying to figure out is an easier way to place stickers on those round surfaces, like planes or starships canopy pieces, or for example the large Hogwarts Castle I'm still to build that has a lot of stickers inside those rounded tower pieces.

    I use a Creative Memories multi-purpose tool. it has a long thin edge on the side for larger stickers and the end can be used for smaller stickers. The end is also slender enough to help remove stickers that are misplaced. I used it originally for my scrapbooking and it works wonderfully in my Lego world as well.

  • @bricklets
    @bricklets 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Cut the sticker roughly from the sheet with scissors or a knife. Remove the sticker around the sticker from the sheet (I remove all surrounding stickers before I cut, that is a bit harder, but easier to cut) now you can fold back a small corner of the backing sheet and you can use this double layer to lean the sticker on the brick without actually pasting it. now align the corner with the brick (preferably using a magnifier, even if you have 20/20 vision, its much easier to align large things) Then when you think its good, press the corner down so it sticks. Check it again, and if happy you can rub the sticker onto the brick towards the backing sheet and it will automatically peel off while rubbing it on. Perfect every time and you never even touched the sticky surface.
    Also a good idea is to clean the brick. bricks are a little waxy from factory and if you clean them the stickers will stick much better and hold up against time better. Warning though, if you clean the brick and try to correct, the glue will stay on the brick and you wont be able to paste it again, so you have to get it right the first time. But with above method I haven't failed yet.

    I always use isopropyl alcohol on the part first, to remove any greasy finger prints. To apply small stickers I sometimes use a brick separator tip but with any tool I find I lose the "feel" of the sticker and you get the static problem. In the end clean fingers always work best. Clean so you don't get any dust or particles under the sticker, which will look like a 'mountain' under the sticker. I hold the sticker by the edge and try to align the most complicated edge or corner first and lighty attach from there. Sometimes with smaller stickers you can rub them with a finger or thumb and generate enough warmth to soften the glue and make a very minor adjustment to position. Ultimately you have to become one with the sticker. I chant "I am one with the sticker and the sticker is with me" as I apply mine...... I still always get at least one on the wonk or with sonething under it. Dont get me started on the ones that leave the sticky behind when you try to reposition them, or the ones where they arent printed straight to the cuts, or they arent fully cut out properly so as you pull them away from the sheet they dont come away cleanly. Always my most disappointing part of any build 😂

    Best tip I have is to remove the surround piece first. Then you’re not having to dig down to catch the edge and you’re not fighting the adhesive stringing out. This makes it a little more difficult to keep track of the numbers, so stick the surround to something (the box?) so that you can coordinate the numbers.

    If i do t use my fingers then I have had success using a needle to hold the sticker. I find it helps with the initial alignment and doesn't mark the sticker. And you can just roll it off when you do the ladt wee bit.
    I must try the soapy water system.

    At one point Lego suggested using window cleaner. Not sure how well it works.

    • @SuperSecretBricks
      @SuperSecretBricks 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Window cleaner works nicely. Alternatively, a drop of dish soap in a saucer, mixed with just a little water. You want the solution to have some kind of viscosity and to be slippery.
      Then dip your tip of your finger in the solution, apply it to the whole surface of the part.
      Slap the sticker on it, and the you can slide it to the right position.
      Finally leave it to dry.
      Works wonders, I'm doing this to build all my sets (including Sanctum Sanctorum).
      He tried soapy water, but there was just too much water in that glass

    This is a huge issue if you have a tremor (shaky hands). It's a hereditary genetic condition and makes precision work extremely difficult.
    As good as TLG is with diversity/inclusion (Harry Potter notwithstanding), their inclusion of stickers in almost everything now is such a weird outlier for those of us who aren't physically able to apply them.

    I've never had a problem using tweezers. It takes a few attempts to get it lined up due to the "static" you mention but I always get it near perfect and never leaves a mark or damages the sticker.
    Lego including this amount of stickers in a set feels like a %#&* you to Marvel fans.

    You should wipe the pieces off first so that any oils from the skin are removed so the stickers adhere stronger. Secondly, as much as Lego charges for their sets, there should be NO stickers when competing brands use prints on their parts.

    Lowers the sets value if used

      It's a slap in the face every time Lego uses stickers when other brands use all prints and price their sets cheaper. That said, a great way to apply stickers is to use an Xacto knife to peel up the edge from the backing sheet and lay it on the surface with the knife. Needless to say, use extreme caution with your fingers as those knives are exceptionally sharp.
