That's a nice looking A1200, I hope to see the bids roll in for that one. Very much looking forwards to the big day. I've even cleaned my dinning room so it does not look bad on camera.
17:07 It seems there is not a standard naming convention for soldering iron tips, but for this I would choose a small chisel tip to get the most surface area contact between the soldering iron tip and the leg and pad. At least what JBC considers to be a chisel tip, with both sides of the iron beveled, and a flat front. I believe the flat front is the key here, and they have both thick and thin versions. Not sure what the size of the pad is here, but I often use either 0.8mm or 1.2mm chisel tips for through-hole work. I only use beveled tips for SMD work (at least what JBC considers the bevel type, with only one flat beveled side).
Those cases are just lovely! Really looking forward to seeing what this goes for. One thing to note with the PiStorm, I had a weird problem with mine when used with internal IDE (CF card). I would get random read errors that didn’t happen when the PiStorm wasn’t attached. Never got to the bottom of it, sadly.
Aaaargh Monkey Island, my all time favourite game on all platforms 😍 another cracking video Lee. Looking forward to Saturday 🔨 sold ££££s cheers Mike 🇬🇧
Such a beautiful and truly amazing looking machine, just wondering if your keyboards "Caps Lock" LED lights up with it being plugged into the Keyrah board though. I have my A1200 "FrakenPi" all built inside one of A1200.Net's reproduction A1200 cases where i have a Keyrah V2 and an original A1200 keyboard. My "Caps Lock" works when typing BUT the tiny LED doesn't light up. Just wondering if mine might have a blown LED diode for the "Caps Lock". Please let me know if yours does or doesn't light up if possible. Thanks so much Lee :)
I didn't notice when testing, and sadly the whole lot is now boxed up ready to send, so I'll not be able to test for you. I'll try to remember to ask it's new owner if they can test that
Aluminium tape. I had a bad experience with kapton when recapping an a600 and melted the audio ports plastic despite using multiple layers of kapton. I was quite shocked. Have had much better results with aluminium tape.
@@MoreFunMakingIt Actually, I was going to say aluminum tape because it behaved as if it was thick, but I didn't because I thought the adhesive might leave some residue, but apparently not.
Well done Lee and Chris! Lovely build that has to be worth a meaty bid
It's meat legal tender. Wait! Steak can get tender!
Wow! What a machine! 😱 Am already envious of the person who gets this. 😎
I love that you leave in all your mistakes and do-overs - much more realistic!
What an incredible build!!! Good luck for Saturday.
Thank you Neil!

Thank you for disturbing your domestic bliss 😁
Neat trick with the hot air and ground. GL with the auction, hope you raise heaps.
Solid caps for eternity!👍
Such a nice machine. A true dream machine.
It really is!
cheers from germany - well done!
Great video! Love using my 1200 and hoping to get a replacement case for it soon.
I know a guy... 😆
@@MoreFunMakingIt Problem is £££, or lack of it.

I didn't realise how much stuff you have packed into the checkmate case until watching this. Great job, looks excellent 👌
It's well stuffed!
Awesome product!! And video. I can smell those miniature donkeys in sight 🐴 😁🤣🤣🤣🤣
Smell the donkeys!

Very nice build!

That will be fun for the new owner to sort out 😁
CaffeineOS is perfect for PiStorm Amigas. I run it on my A500 and A1200
Old man noises... this hits home.

Cheers Mike! The music of Monkey Island always sends a shiver down my spine. It's like distilled memories of that time.

I'm still yet to see one of these cases with an A1200 and either zorro or pci slots inside.
They mostly come out at night, mostly
What are you using as heat shielding for adjacent components? Is that just aluminum foil? More effective than Kapton tape?

Lee, I've suddenly changed my mind... Can I have it back please 🙂
