Monk's eye popping out reminded me of an infamous part of NZ television that is now part of Kiwiana pop culture. There used to be a puppet on childrens television back in the 90s called 'Thingee'. Once on live television his eye popped out on national TV. It's a piece of classic history now.
I was watching the show the time it happened, Thingees eye just plopped out... was quite funny lol. Rip Thingee, the replacement puppet was never as good as the original... hell I remember when Thingee was introduced as an egg on the show, for a month or more they speculated about what was inside, when they hatched it was quite a big thing for us kids at the time, out popped the Pterodactyl and then they had a competition to name him. Childhood... miss it sometimes.

In hospital in the 70’s. Lad in the next bed was distressed cos one of his eyes had popped out and was looking at his foot. Monkey took it well, all things considered.
