Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Mylene Farmer reaction made possible via PATREON with "Optimistique-Moi." Mylene is caught in the middle of a tightrope in what appears to be a circus show. Lots of symbolism in this video; but also lots of eargasmic sounds; that puts me over the edge! See why I think this is on my top 5!

The Mylenium Tour version is one of the worst thing she ever done. She sings like if she were singin for 5 years old kids. Nothing compare to the studio version. The studio version is my 3 favourite songs from her but the live version is kinda ridiculous… but the outfit is wow
One of my favorite
Mylene is a world-class empath. This is my conclusion after hearing her poetry and lyrics and watching her performances. She is able to reach deep into the hearts and souls of her audience even if only through the digital screen. In that regard, she is a goddess who stands easily in the company of Floor Jansen and Simone Simons.

Sur l'album dont est extraite cette chanson (Innamoramento) c'est Mylène Farmer qui a écrit les paroles, et Laurent Boutonnat, son pygmalion historique, a composé la musique, mais concernant cette chanson, Mylène Farmer en a signé seule la musique et les paroles. Innamoramento est un de mes albums préférés avec : L'autre, Anamorphosée et Ainsi sois-je.

- "dernier sourire" (a song for her father) - "optimistique-moi" (dance)
- "innamoramento" (a wonderful song!) - "medley" with "libertine" " sans contrefaçon" "maman a tort" and "pourvu qu'elles soient douces" (besides for the latter you have to see the 2009 version, very sexy)

I think she also wrote Mefie-Toi out of that album. Of course it's not as complex as the Boutonnat compositions but it has a great beat and instrumentation and fits well with the rest of the album. After all it was single that attests to its quality.

That's one of my favorite song and video by Mylène. But not so famous. You can watch the live version from the "mylenium tour", a Masterpiece. (by the way you should watch "Mylene is calling" then "optimistique moi" at the same time because they are connected and combined in this show). Enjoy !

It's one of my top-5 of hers as well! It is right there with California (imho the best one!), Pourvu Qu'elles Soient Douce, Vertige and Desenchantee! Also honorable mentions - Tristana, Psychiatric, Regrets and Je T'aime Melancolie! These are some of her most catchy song listed!...Unfortunately i'm not a huge fan of her 00's and 10's era albums, the only exception is that single song with Seal on the boat - Les Mots! (beautiful cinematography too, nice warm colors and tentalizing atmosphere!)
With that said i have at least 30 Mylene songs (maybe even more!) selected on my favourites playlist from her entire discography and considering how selective and picky i am usually thats more than with many others with only few exceptions, like Alan Parsons Project, Enigma or Chris Rea for example!...
Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Mylène Farmer. Optimistique-Moi is a song as a fourth single taken from her fifth studio album "Innamoramento" released on February 22, 2000 ranked no.7 for 2 non consecutive weeks and becoming top 18 of airplay radio, selling 130,000 copies becoming silver disc.
The song is considered by the fans as a potential hit and the strongest title of the Innamoramento album but it was not until the beginning of 2000 that it was finally released as a single.
This track is one of the four 100% Mylène Farmer songs from the Innamoramento album since the lyrics and music are by Mylène.
It is besides the first song of which Mylène composes the music which becomes a single but it's Laurent Boutonnat who designed the arrangements (as for all the titles of the Innamoramento album).
The text hints at an incestuous paternal relationship: "Aussitôt Tes calins Cessent Toute Ecchymose". But the lyrics are often ambiguous and obscur, allusions making us think of this sulphurous and forbidden theme, Mylène wishing above all to suggest.
The music video, shot in Prague, was directed by Michael Haussman. There are two influences in this clip : Charlie Chaplin's Circus and especially Santa Sangre, a Mexican film by Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Mylène finds herself as a tightrope walker in a circus, surrounded by malicious beings in a gloomy place, thus finding herself a prisoner.
She will find her freedom thanks to a magician who invites her to enter a box wearing a long white coat. She thus escapes the horror for a new life even if the exterior is not as pleasant but the main thing is to find freedom.

We recognize the actor who interpreted "God" in Mylène Farmer video clip "Que mon cœur lâche" (1992) directed by Luc Besson. Clip to which you've already reacted it seems to me.

I'm a very big fan of Mylene Farmer but this is one of her songs I really don't get. I don't like it, never did and i really don't get the appeal this song has on some people. Granted it's one of those rare instances where even the music is written by Mylène herself and not Laurent Boutonnat. But maybe that's it for me. I usually like Laurent Boutonnat's music very much, and here I miss it even more. The music video is nice though, especially the end : where she's free, I really love that part.
As for the song itself, it's not because the music is written by Mylène herself that I don't like it because in the same album : "Innamoramento", she also wrote the song "Et Si Vieillir M'etais Conté" completely by herself, and there I love the music very much. But I really can't stand to hear "Optimistique-moi". Something in it rubs me the wrong way. I've only listenned to it in full only a handful of times. I just can't stand it. It's unbearable (at least to me). I think it's because of the sounds used on it. I don't think they're pretty or easy on the ears. It's noisy and to me it's a bloody mess.

Strange song and music (when it was produced at the end of the first thrid of her career) cause :
_ she sings and vocalises all the time, even during the break (this may disturb some people)
_ the music is too "heavy" with many sounds and layers... dark, metalic and loud sounds (Mylène's brain is too heavy and confused... or is she angry with someone or herself ?)
_ at this time, Laurent Boutonnat's musics were more logical, subtle... and soft (time to breath !!!)
